Firstly, this store is full of cool items to buy... mostly around ocean/exploration/sailing theme. Lots of really cool stuff. I bought from here something that was carved from a reclaimed oil steel drum into the shape of a whale. I liked the idea behind taking something like this and recycling into a cool little piece of art. Also the dark/rust color of the item really goes with the dark wood in my room. I also bought this beautiful compass. It's built into a box which has a carving of a fisherman reeling in a mermaid... certainly looked distinctive and I liked it a lot. There were other beautiful items in there that I would have purchased if I had the room in my home. If your in Kennebunkport, check this place out!

Both my fiance and I were hitting them with questions along with requests for additional photos and they got right on it. The goal was to find a clean watermelon tourmaline. Which, I must say, is no small feet and required checking with several jewelers and hours of digging online. It seemed like it was narrowed to several but one in particular stuck out. So off to Boston we flew and then drove into Kennebunkport, ME. Side note...Kennebunkport is delightful. If you get a chance to go, hop on it. Okay so I have to say here we arent jetsetters. He was just pressed to find me the perfect stone and make me happy I was a little worried when we walked into the jeweler, it was much smaller than the website would have you suspect. When I explained I needed a bag, since I was doing more shopping in town and spent close to a hundred dollars, I felt I shouldn't have to pay an additional.25. Not good business sense to loose a customer over a quarter. If I was the clerk, I would have searched around and found some bag that perhaps a person consigning had left behind to give me as an option since she couldn't part with their plain brown paper bags that they use. The owner of this company should pay attention to this and instill some flexibility to their employees.

The lovely woman at the register was very helpful - and recommended a locals' favorite bakery that I should try - Boulangerie, A Proper Bakery. Apparently, their Saturday Babka offering is quite exceptional. They also have a comfy chair and magazines about Maine for your partner to peruse while you shop. My husband actually found a few points of interest to visit during our trip thanks to this little stop. I wish I could pop in more often!

I've bought many unique trinkets over the years, and I always find something special to bring home. Many items are very high-quality, therefore very expensive. There's also a variety of affordable artwork, trinkets, nice umbrellas... Really something for everyone. Whenever I'm in old Port or Freeport, I always make a point to visit. I hope the store is around another 20 years or more!
