The visitors generally do a very good job of behaving themselves, which I personally am thankful for because the park rangers do absolutely nothing. Several times I have seen people fishing in the lakes around the park (which is also a STATE PRESERVE WITH CLEARLY POSTED NO FISHING SIGNS), and every time the rangers have been completely unaware. They rarely venture outside of their station. As a result of this the quality of this park is slowly degrading. Aside from illegal fishing there is now graffiti and other signs of vandalism in multiple places throughout the park. Come here while you still can, before long it will be a much worse place because of lazy rangers.

The walk is a half mile long through several ecosystems. Signs tell you about the areas. The walk is easy, and on a sunny day you'll want sunscreen and a hat. You can walk quickly and get your steps in going around several times. Or you can stroll looking for animals. The boardwalk is well maintained as you can see that boards are being replaced. This is a place you can bring the family, and come anytime during the waking hours. Except for about 25 yards of a sandy trail, the boardwalk is handicapped accessible.

All of the parks in Naples are gorgeous and the Golden Gate Community Park is no exception. This…read morepark serves the Golden Gate community located in the far northeastern part of the Naples. Golden Gate began as a development in the 1950s and 1960s from 175 square mile of Everglades swampland purchased in the late 1950's by Jack and Leonard Rosen, founders of Gulf American Corporation. Before Golden Gate, the Gulf American Corporation had success in developing Cape Coral. Neighborhoods in Golden Gate include Golden Gate City, Golden Gate Estates, Forest Park, Berkshire Village, and Safe Harbor. Unlike many west coast neighborhoods,, Golden Gate has no gulf coast access. It does however have many miles of canals. Golden Gate Community Park is located on one of the canals and has a launch for the type of small watercraft the canals are ideal for. Another draw to the park is the aquatic facility that has a 25-yard by 25-meter heated pool, a children's activity pool, a wading pool, a 177-foot open slide, a 122-foot closed slide, one 1-meter springboard and one 3-meter springboard. The aquatic facility charges a nominal entrance for residents. There is also a fitness center with treadmills, ellipticals, free weights and weight machines. You can purchase monthly and yearly fitness memberships. Other park amenities include a lighted little league field, lighted baseball field, lighted soccer/football fields, lighted basketball court, 4 lighted tennis racquetball courts, shuffleboard courts, bocce court, playground, restrooms, and picnic pavilions which can be rented. As a visitor, my favorite part of the park was the nearly one mile paved fitness trail. I love how this park offers something for all ages. Take the kids to the pool or playground, exercise at he fitness center, participate in team sports at one of the fields, or enjoy a picnic in one of the pavilions. The options for recreation are endless in this well appointed park.

I walked from Tigertail Beach entrance and needed to get off beach to meet family after a decent walk. The front guard was dismissive of my reading abilities of signs because it's "Resident's Beach." My apologies for having legs to walk there, guess I should avoid doing that in the future! I think the beach could use some better walk off points, and the plethora of condos and private residences, combined with the overall design of Marco doesn't give me hope for that to happen. Would be great to have more places to jump from beach to street though, especially with the sidewalks on the road nearby!

The beach is named after a Seminole leader and what makes it so special is that it is divided by a tidal lagoon. The developed lagoon side is an important bird habitat and it has amenities like a playground and restrooms. To reach the beach side you wade through the lagoon which is about 50 yards and which allows you to reach the waters of the Gulf. If you prefer not to walk through the lagoon you can walk around the lagoon to the south to reach the beach in about 20 minutes. The main part of Tigertail Beach across from the lagoon is Sand Dollar Island or Sand Dollar Spit. The area was an off shore sandbar completely surrounded by water until the winds of Hurricane Wilma and erosion connected it to Marco Island. It is known for its incredible deposits of sand dollars, giving it the name and making it a favorite spot to find sand dollars and shells. Adjacent to the park is Big Marco Pass Critical Wildlife Area managed by the state and it is a resting site for a variety of migratory shorebirds. Tigertail Beach is a birding hot spot during spring and fall migration. It is a part of the Great Florida Birding Trail, one of the longest running programs of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The trail consists of more than 500 wildlife viewing sites across the state. Things to keep in mind, if you are going to to the beach pack what you can carry if you plan on crossing the lagoon. Most people carry their belongings overhead. Parking is ten dollars to park or a Collier County beach pass. if you like a beach adventure and nature, this may be the experience for you.
