After a previous positive review I have to say I have tried for almost 2 years to be a loyal and respectful customer of sugaring NYC and it's just become so clear that it's not mutual. I previously utilized the Park Slope location. I decided to not return to the location because I was constantly being rescheduled. One day I walked in for my 1 pm appointment and was informed I wouldn't be seen for 30 minutes because my Sugarista had taken her lunch break....I was truly shocked that I was just expected to wait 30 minutes past my appointment time, with no notice or any apology. I then decided to utilize the 14th st location. It was great but I continued to be cancelled on constantly. Every appointment I had scheduled would have to be rescheduled. I just kept it pushing because I get it. I work in the beauty industry. I'm a hairstylist of 15+ years and I also have owned a business I know how it is. I've had sugarista's drop globs of hot sugar where they shouldn't and hurt me and I've never made a peep. I've had them completely ignore my preferences and just do whatever they want with hair removal. I chose to end my membership a month or two ago as I just feel I'd rather go elsewhere...I was informed I had two credits and that if I'd like to utilize these credits so I don't lose the money that they could freeze my account and charge my credits when I make appointments so I couldn't be charged further...I agreed, mostly to afford myself the time to find another spot. I then received a charge 3-4weeks after my last appointment on 8/26 (this wouldn't have been my previous billing date?) Frustratingly I called the shop to correct this. It's now been a week and no one has reached out. At this point I don't want want the credits. I want to be refunded and to never return because I don't deserve this treatment. I feel like an inconvenience to this business. read more

Kiesha at the 14th street location was amazing, she was super easy to talk and laugh with. She makes sure you're super comfortable she explained everything she was doing as she was doing it. she allowed for me to takes breaks if necessary. Even gave a bunch of tips and pointers. This was my first ever wax and she made the experience smooth and seamless. Will definitely be back for my next appointment in 4 weeks. I've been coming to this location for years and have been very happy with my experience. I almost always see Kemani who I highly recommend. She's skilled, efficient, and kind, plus hardworking and loves to travel so lots to talk about it. Sindy is also great too. I did have one horrific experience with someone else, so my advice is to stick with recommendations from Yelp and Google. In terms of the actual sugaring, I'm a huge fan compared to waxing. It's much more gentle on my skin and I'm barely red afterwards. Wanted to like this place but I left very annoyed. I arrived a few minutes late to my appointment and the girl Natasha that did my wax had an attitude the whole time. She was very aggressive when doing my wax and very rude also. If I wasn't going on Vacation the next day and in a hurry I would've just stopped her and walked out honestly. She was waxing me very fast and harsh like she had a hot date to attend lol. Then I heard her make comments about me in the lobby and the staff all started laughing (how unprofessional) No tip at all for her of course and I will never be returning to this unprofessional place. I didn't *personally* like being told what she's gonna do before she does it (read: I am terrible at waxes; I want no reminder of it haha) but that just made me think that she really cares for client comfort. Honestly, this location is cool. It is always clean and the staff are accommodating. I have received services here twice. The second time I booked with a new esthetician. I got ingrown hairs post waxing but I guess that is the risk involved. But in the end I prefer the maiden lane location because I found my favorite esthetician. read more

I went for a full bikini & was under the impression that they would wax the sides(as close to the labia as possible), instead it was literally the crease between your inner thigh & the sides. I was still left with so much hair and a crooked landing strip thanks to Dazaycia. & it's pricey! So many locations in NYC do the whole Brazilian cheaper & it lasts' I ended up going to the one in Cobble Hill as soon as I left to get the whole thing fixed! I usually go to Unique Threading on 23rd, but I screwed up and forgot that I have a photo shoot tomorrow. So I booked a last minute appointment with Sugaring NYC in Midtown. Immediately after, I got a phone call and was told that the esthetician available for that time slot "doesn't do faces." How does that even work? Ok, whatever. They rescheduled me for the Union Square location. The appointment was rough. When she proclaimed that I was "all set," I got up and looked in the mirror. I was stunned. We weren't even CLOSE to done. She had really only cleaned up the larger area between my eyelids and my eyebrows. There were still tons of stray hairs around my eyebrows. I pointed these out to her and got back on the table. When she said she was finished again, I looked in the mirror. Still not even nearly done. Lots of hair towards the inner corners of my eyebrows and underneath the arch. She had me hold a hand mirror and point to exactly where the stray hairs were because apparently she couldn't tell? I don't know how that's possible. But I did, and she flat out told me that she couldn't remove the hairs because neither sugaring nor the tweezers she was using would work. I was appalled. So basically, when you come to this place, you better make sure all your hairs are long, or you can only expect half a service? This place runs on their girly image with their wall-to-wall pink decor, pink scrubs, and cheap pink tweezers. They are all glitz and no follow-through. Go to a $10 eyebrow threading place instead, you will get better results for half the price. read more

The experience and being back there was amazing. The location most definitely is practice social distancing and protocol and procedures are being met. All staff members wear a mask as well as the customers. They is a sticky on indicating 6 feet apart due the small space. There is also hand sanitizer at the front desk for usage to any customer. It was pretty simple you get in and get out just show up on time for your appointment because since they've reopen they are soooo BOOKED. Therefore no complaint at all about my visit and this was my first time at this location. The lady that worked with me was Tatiana she was amazing and assured me that everything was going to be alright and she was right and she was so sweet to me.
