I had left my Cocker Spaniel there in May 2014 without incident. I am not a regular customer but SFK had been recommended by my groomer Pet Paradise whom I love for my dog. PP was to be on vacation during the week of Labor Day weekend and suggested I again leave my dog with SFK. I called well over a month in advance and booked a week for boarding. Kathy said NOTHING ABOUT NEEDING a current shots records on Wikka. (I had been in a car accident Mar 2015 and am having speech and short term memory problems so I forgot about a shots record and up to date shots) Again I talked to Kathy the day BEFORE I was to board WIkka and she mentioned NOTHING about a shots records. The day of boarding I called Kathy as I was running late and again she mentioned NOTHING about shots. Once I arrived and WIkka was boarded Kathy ask for the SHOT RECORDS. I stated I had not brought any with me as she had not asked for the records. The old ones were with AofA and she had not been to my current Vet. Kathy informed me that Wikka was overdue all her shots (she had the paper records from before laying on her desk so she KNEW Wikka was overdue but neglected to tell me after 3 phone calls!) and esp the Bordello that took 2 wks to get into her system to protect her and therefore SHE WOULD NOT BE KEEPING WIKKA period. I WAS SHOCKED!!!!!! My hubby and I were leaving that afternoon to go to Pa to see our daughter and grandsons. He had already taken off work, the motel was booked for that night and the lady to feed the cats had been paid $50. In cancelling WIKKA's boarding Kathy explained she was doing me the favor of NOT charging me Wikka's fee and saving her from getting bordello from the dogs she keeps (made no sense as she doesn't board dogs w/o the shot apparently). I left crying and upset as I now had to call my hubby who lost a days pay from work, $200 for the motel cancellation as they require 48 hrs notice of cancellation and the $50 to the lady for the cats who gave up her weekend to tend to my cats. We are out over $350!!!!!! This is outrageous as IF SFK had stated the shots records were required when I called the 1st time, I would have taken Wikka for the shots and there would have been NO problem in boarding her and my vacation would NOT have had to be cancelled! I DO NOT RECOMMENT THIS KENNEL as they are neglectful of information you may need to board there and have NO understanding and DO NOT care that they inconvenience YOU or cost you MONEY when the boarding is CANCELLED without notice.
