Only thing id say beware of is they try to raise the price of everything so you'll more than likely pay double than what the total shows for your booking. Unless you just get regular nail polish with no shape, you're going to pay a lot more for quality that can be found at any nail salon honestly. This location cant really do any unique stuff. Additionally, one lady was only using AAVE (African American Vernacular English) with me which made me extremely uncomfortable because I was the only black customer in the salon. Vinings Location, a bunch of rude racist women work here!!!!! I have been to this specific location 4 times since moving to Cobb County. Please note I gone to Sugar Coat sine it opened in VA Highlands so I'm very familiar with their attended and service. This location should be locked and shuttered! I just moved to Cobb late last year so this is the location in Vinings that's now closest to me having moved from Brookhaven. Yesterday 27Jan my appointment was at 6pm, I arrived on time and no one greeted me. No one! I stood for 5 minutes and no one was at the desk nor looked up to acknowledge my presence. I waited some more. I was asked to move so someone could pay, yet never greeted nor checked in. I left and went to the restroom and came back and sat down. A Black technician spoke and asked had I been checked in and I replied "NO" no one has even spoken to me. A snappy young lady walks over then asked why I was there, spoke to another lady in their shared language and that lady punted at the station for me to sit in and they said "Sorry" over her shoulder. As I sat annoyed and confused because now it's 6:20pm a lady comes over who speaks absolutely no English and we sit in silence as she points to services and I still smile and agree as I nod. Pal ease note I said what I wanted when I made my appointment. My pedicure was again terrible, the bottom of my feet look the same way they did when I walked in. I called another lady over and she argues with me that I had bad calluses and needed more expensive pedicure. This happens when I come to this location. I thought I was dreaming it I wasn't. I get pedicures every 2 weeks and I do a light maintenance at home. This issue is the work was not done, the simplest pumicing and pedicure maintenance on a $30 Essential pedicure. I paid over $30 with a 20% tip included. I am disturbed, again disappointed and now angry at the repeated poor service and treatment at this location. I've returned thinking it was just a bad day but now I know this is how they treat people, well me anyway, a Black woman who has watched a different treatment given to the White women who come into this location. Well. When you walk in the spot looks very nice and upscale. The manicure and pedicure though is rushed. I went with the escape to Fiji which is their most expensive option. The massage was about two minutes per foot. You could tell that they just want to move people through the seats as fast as they can. I should have read the reviews. I'm new in Atlanta and am pretty particular about my nails, so the bar was set high! After reading reviews, I made an appt for a gel mani with Genae today. The salon is beautiful, first of all; looks more like a spa than typical nail salon. I also love that they use new buffers and files on customers (and allow you to take the kit home if you want). Genae was so sweet and had a great idea to do two different color coats to get the color I wanted. My mani looks great -- not too thick, evenly applied. I'll be back. read more

I always go to the one in midtown...which was perfect! I called today for an essential manicure. I get to the salon and she soaks off my gel polish and proceeds to use the cuticle pusher to remove my polish, she does this in a downward motion instead of up and really yanked on my cuticles. She ask me to pick out a gel polish I told the man on the phone when I called I wanted regular polish, she Told me I can't do regular after gel and it will be $35. I told her I wanted regular polish since the last gel I had only lasted a week. She files the bed with a nail file and that hurt even more. I repeatedly had to tell her there was still gel on my nails and had to point out all of the spots that had gel on them. I asked her if the nail should be smooth after a manicure and she says we can't do that after gel and to come back in 6-8 weeks. My nails looked shredded and flaky after the manicure when they should be smooth. When I was checking out I asked if I got the essential manicure which included a massage and he said no she did the express. I said when I called that's what I asked for the "essential manicure." He didn't really care and still rung me up for express. Not a good experience when your nails still look terrible after. Should have stuck to the one in midtown. read more

I like the environment though a bit small, the ventilation works great. There were no trace of nail polish or acetone like most nail salons. They work a bit slower but they use a lot of products to paint your nails so mani-pedi was around 2 hours long. My nail tech didn't talk to me much like "customer-avoidant", if there's such term. Pros: Ambience, ventilation, results look good Cons: Slow, anti-social nail tech, not creative Sugarcoat promise to provide a complimentary nail kit so you don't share with others but I never received one even after mentioning it. Did they change their minds and decided to share tools with every client unlike what their website list it as? I had to tell them how to design my nails because they weren't creative enough to do so. This is the only place you should go for mani pedis. I've been going here since they first opened and when I say I have always walked out refreshed and with some amazing nails... I've never been disappointed!!!! The quality of the service, the store, their products is beyond any other nail salon I have been to! Last week I went to palazzo nails for a manicure right before a wedding and omg it was horrendous. And the difference of how each of these women treat your nails and take their time with you is what makes this place my go to. Some people complain about the price but even at palazzo I paid $40 and got absolute crap for gel nails (I will post a picture for comparison got a white glitter gel mani). Overall the salon itself is beautiful with a wide range of services and color selection you really can't beat it. Not to mention how long my manicures always last. I really wanted to love this salon. The atmosphere is so enticing and definitely looks more appealing than most nail salons I've been to in the past. The chic decor and modern look to the salon really attracts the client here. I drove by the salon on the way to work and saw a sign that advertises "Mani/Pedi for $35" and decided to try the salon. What the sign doesn't tell you, is that you are paying $35 for the "express mani pedi" which doesn't include much besides nail shaping and a color change. If you want to upgrade to gel, they add on $20. The hype about this salon is definitely overrated. I've never had a more basic pedicure in my life. The nail technician scrubbed the bottom of my foot with a pumice stone for only a few seconds, applied lotion, painted my toenails and my pedicure was over. Personally, this service is not worth the money for things I can do at home on my own. I will probably return for the manicure, however it also does not include any of the essential services either besides nail trimming and polish. I applied their lotion on my hands after the tech was done because I guess that service is not included for the express manicure. I will not be returning for a pedicure, unless I upgrade to the "Essential" pedicure for $28 and $18 for the manicure. You come to this salon for the atmosphere, not the services unless your ready to splurge. read more

About two days later, my manicure was chipped, despite me paying more than I normally do ($45 for what is considered their 'regular' combo) but my pedicure is still flawless. Didn't like the greeting I received ('Do you have an appointment?' instead of 'Hello.'). They didn't seem interested in the fact that I was a first time customer. The service overall was kind of half-assed, especially my 'foot massage'. And if you're going to make most of the decor in your place white, you should be extra meticulous when it comes to keeping it clean. This place doesn't get that - along with other things. Maybe they feel like they don't have to try because they have built in clientele (aka the ladies of the neighborhood), but I prefer my salons to try a little harder. This place is a joke. I've been here multiple times, only because it is close to where I live. This was my first time at the new location on Pharr Road. After tonight, I think I will avoid Sugarcoat. My manicurist was quiet, I didn't think much of it. But she soon became rude. When the manicure was nearly finished, she began to paint my nails; I noticed that they were not very clean. I kindly asked, can you get that please. She said, "I think it's a stain." I said, "really? because this one looks like it too." She rudely replied, "did you not see me clean them with the stick. You have a lot of debris. They are dirty." I did not reply; slightly embarrassed, trying to process what was said to me. So please tell me why I am here getting a manicure, if not to MANICURE MY HANDS? She did nothing other than waste my time. My cuticles are dry, as I reflect on my Sugarcoat manicure. Wow! I got a basic pedicure and an Opi Axxium gel manicure at Sugarcoat today. The service was fantastic and I have to say this is by far the BEST mani/pedi I have gotten in a long time. My nail technician was Yordanka and I highly recommend her. Her attention to detail is impeccable, excellent cuticle work and perfect nail shaping. Wow! The new upgraded version of this salon is so incredible! The staff of women here are so beautiful and professional. They are so nice and REALLY take their time with you. They give their honest professional advice on colors and products. I read a few bad reviews on yelp and I'm not sure why people are so sensitive about the service they have received here. Seems unrealistic if you ask me. Maybe those women gave the technician nasty attitudes but we won't that side of the story, right? Maybe they wrote a bad review just to get a refund, wouldn't surprise me. PEOPLE FEEL SO ENTITLED FOR NO REASON! Anyways the atmosphere is so vibrant here, this salon is the cleanest salon I've found in Atlanta. I really wanted to like Sugarcoat. After opting for the $5 off coupon available via Facebook, and hearing rave reviews about the ambiance and "craftsmanship", I thought Sugarcoat had real potential. So I booked an appointment for 2:30 to go check it out, with high hopes of a fabulous experience. The salon is cute, and in a great location in Buckhead. But having to pay to park in the deck of the Eclipse condos then walk over wasn't ideal. Sure we did get reimbursed later when we paid, and there's the valet option, but you have to tip him. When we got into the salon it was packed. There's limited seating in the waiting area, but thankfully we were sat immediately after selecting our polish colors. Thank goodness I made an appointment. The woman who was assigned to me wasn't happy at all. She must have been tired from the weekend rush because the look on her face was totally sour. She asked if I wanted my cuticles cut, and I told her no because I was worried she might dig way too down deep in there. So she just soaked my nails, pushed down on the cuticles, and filed them (along with getting my actual fingers!) After I came back from washing my hands, she was about to slap on the polish but I asked her to stop for a moment to actually clean out the gunk from under my nails leftover from her filing job. After she was done with my manicure, I had to wait a few minutes for the pedicure, which is done at a plush couch/bench. Although this is very cute it only accommodates a half-dozen folks. They made me move from the manicure station and I had to stand awkwardly because there was nowhere to sit. When I was sat, she rushed through my pedicure, doing the bare minimal scrub and massage. My nails did come out looking prettily polished so it wasn't a complete let down; however, I won't be going back. Can I say how refreshing it was to walk into a clean, all white salon with large windows, mosaic tile and baby pink accents, and be pampered without feeling rushed? This upscale day spa runs the gamut on mani/pedi packages whether you are looking for a very basic polish change to the works... scruff, buff, masque, paraffin and more. They also offer waxing, massages, lash extensions and other services which I am sure are great. There is a long white table where they do the manicures so you don't feel cramped in a little "station". For the pedis you step up to a banquette and put your feet in the bubbly tub. For the pedicure, they were very thorough with the cuticle clippings, foot filing, scrub, and applying the lotion. The staff was very nice and the place is very quiet and clean. They also gave me my own buffer and file when I left - nice little bonus! Manicures range from $12-30 and pedicures range from $25-50 but they also have combos. Shellac manicures are $25 and they charge $5 for the soak to remove. They offer their space for little girl birthday parties which includes polish and a princess crown. If you have to pick up a gift for someone, you are in the right place because they sell jewelry, soaps, travel accessories, bubble bath, undies and more! I am laughing about one previous reviewers' comments about the valet parking. Agreed. That is my only reason for taking away a star. We had to wait in the cold mist about 8 minutes for the car. Granted, we were standing underneath the portico. Guess that beats walking down the dirty Manhattan streets with the cheap disposable flip flops that are guaranteed to cave once you have made it halfway down the sidewalk. But my best gal pal and I managed to do just this. We dragged our sorry azzes out of bed, walked in the speed of turtoise, drove to the nail spa. The owner wasn't too cheerful since we were late for 10 mini/little minutes. But the gal who took care of my feet was awesome, she wore the cutest tank top that said: got sugar? She really took care of my feet and made me feel super pampered. My best friend, however, had a girl who accidentally made her toe bleed. Although the girl was absolutely apologetic, it really hurt...so she got a $10 discount. Firstly, I left in plenty of time to make the appointment time, but because Pharr Rd's sign was down I ended up getting lost trying to find Sugarcoated. I called the Salon and told them where I was in the hopes they would be able to direct me to their location. This was a false hope. I spoke to no less then 3 different people, all of which directed me farther away from Sugarcoated. When my good friend got there she got a customer to help direct me, since the staff was completely unhelpful and just irritated at me. When I finally got to Sugarcoated, the manager lady told me they could not do the mani because I was late. This was understandable so I wasn't too fussy. Then when I told them I wanted a French pedi, the nail painter threw a fit. It was 45 minutes until they closed but apparently that wasn't enough time. The manager forced the nail painter to paint mine the way I wanted. If I had been refused, I would have just gone elsewhere. The nail painter had the worst attitude the whole time and gave me the most expensive pedi they had instead of what i asked for orginally when I made the appointment. When I left with my friend, my friend told me that the manager had been talking bad about me the whole time I was lost. I couldnt believe how rude she was acting to a paying costumer and completely unprofessional. My friend said the manager said things like, "If she isn't here in 5 minutes, then I'm going to refuse her service." and "I can't believe she can't find this place (with a mocking tone)." Also my friend used her GPS and still was 5 minutes late and they told her they couldnt do the manicure, only the pedicure because of her tardiness. Overall, the staff and manager are completely unhelpful. They did an ok job on my nails but I would rather spend my money at a business that appreciates my money and business. I came here to get my eyebrows waxed based on Rami's recommendation. He came here to get a pedicure and couldn't stop talking about how nice the salon was and how well he was treated. I can confirm that the salon is nice (nice meaning cute, but not special) and everyone was friendly. Apparently waxing isn't their forte as I wasn't very pleased with the process. I had to have the person go back and correct them at least 5 times (I'm really not that picky, I promise). There didn't seem to be any attention to detail. They have several chairs for spa pedicures and the basins aren't attached, which makes for a neat look (and is supposed to be more sanitary for some reason). Parking is easy if you use the valet. Otherwise be prepared to walk for a while from the parking deck in back. read more

I have several friends that have gone at different times and have said the same thing. I've been to Sugarcoat 2-3 times for an occassional natural mani/pedi when I don't feel like doing it myself. What I like most about Sugarcoat is that they focus on maintaining sanitary work conditions and tools. Service is also good. Last trip was this past Friday. My Nail Technician, Pammella, did an awesome job with my mani/pedi. She took me for my 4p appointment as soon as I got there at 3:45. It's 4 days later and my nails still look like i just got them done. It's a cute salon but because it's all white, it is time for a little sprucing up of the bench cushions and bowls which are starting to look a little dingy and scarred. Also, when all of the stations are occupied, you're forced to be a little close to your neighboring customer. So..It's not really relaxing or quiet. It's not going to be a "spa" experience per se but I'd definitely recommend Sugarcoat for convenience, good service and a great mani/pedi. Be sure to make an appointment. read more

I had a pretty good experience. It seemed very clean and the staff were all very friendly! It seems like it would be a fun place to take a group of girlfriends sometime. I did chip my nail after leaving, like I always do. I need to check into their "no chip" polish, since I seem to be so hard on my nails. This is a great salon. I have tried many others in Atlanta and only go here. They are the cleanest and use a hospital grade sterilizer to clean their equipment which other salons do not do. This is super important as there are many health risks if you go somewhere they do not do this! They always do a really good job on my nails as well, and if you don't like how something turned out will make an effort to fix it. They have a nice and happy atmosphere that doesn't feel like a cheap factory like many others. Every time I try another place I realize that I only want to come back here. read more

Sugarcoat is so great! They make a big deal about how clean everything is which is why I continue to go back again and again! They use the sinks that drain when they are done with them instead of the jettys (that harbor bacteria). It really is one of the best manicures & pedicures I have ever had. I wish I could go there weekly! Everyone who has done my nails has always been so nice about meeting my request. They do waxing and stuff also which I have always really liked their results. Totally recommend this place. I have walked in before and was able to get an appointment but I really recommend making an appointment. I would have probably walked out if I were by myself and went straight to a bar but it turned out to be a nice and relaxing Friday afternoon. I am going to +1 star since it's not fair that they get penalized for appealing to their target audience! We had dinner plans and the team got out out of there promptly. I think appointments are highly encouraged/recommended. Everyone was super friendly and all of the merchandise for sale was hilarious. Kept me entertained for a while.
