We debated for months on a proper celebration for my son's 50th birthday. Destination party, Mexico, San Diego or parts unknown. Busy family schedules had us decide on a backyard party. We needed food, entertainment and a bar and bartender who could handle a large crowd. Thank God we found Leena for the bar. I read her detailed proposal and complete self contained operation. All she needed was a 10x10 space and two electrical outlets. Say no more! After a few detailed emails over the next few weeks, I put down the 50% deposit and the plan came together. SugarCane Junkie came on time, brought the promised set up and all ingredients including a life saving hydration station. It was over 100 degrees at the start of the party. I did a test run Margarita and signaled we were ready to go! The party raged on with only occasional bar back up from the large crown. Leena never took a real break over the period of the contracted time. As the party grew to a crescendo, I asked for 20 shots of tequila (ended up being more like 30) for the birthday toast! The pour was quick, efficient and kept the party flowing. One of the considerations for a pro behind the bar was to limit the possibility of over serving our guests. I do know you had to cut off one guy (a plus one I didn't even know) and I hope my tip reflected my gratitude. Next day we all considered what event or occasion we could have you do next. Let me start off by saying, if I could give 20 stars, I would. I had the pleasure of working with Sugarcane Junkie this past weekend for my son's birthday party. From the moment I made contact to inquire about services, the owner (Lena) was nothing but professional and timely with her responses to my questions. She answered everything clearly and was patient with me, despite me asking a lot of questions. Her prices were reasonable and fair. Day of the event, the owner showed up on time and was able to set up fairly quickly. I had non-alcoholic drinks for my guests and I ordered their signature lightbulb cups which were a big hit with the parents. The owner was nice enough to make me a drink (without me asking- as I was busy running around doing party stuff). That drink was what I needed. It was light, fruity and sweet. I carried my cup around with me the whole party. At the end of the party, I was continually stopped by parents telling me that the sugarcane junkie vendor was so nice, personable, and professional and we had made a great choice in having her! They noted that the drinks for them and their kids tasted so good. Given my experience with this vendor after my party, I would pay double to have her back again. My most recent clients decided to have a dry wedding BUT they still wanted to offer their guests a fun and exciting beverage experience. I scoured vendors all across Los Angeles and Orange County and finally discovered SugarCane Junkie. Arlenna's first response was prompt and she gave us an estimate that fit the budget. She came out to meet with my clients for an in-home consultation, and we were all enamored by her joyful personality. Her hot cider drink was an immediate winner with all of us (this drink would be great with rum added as well), we also tried her Butterbeer (which was also delicious) and her signature frozen drink. We ended up going with the cider and a colorful frozen beverage. The couple loved the drinks and having SugaCane Junkie added to the magic of the whole wedding experience.
