Alice is incredible! I've been waxing for years but thus is my first experience with sugaring and I think it's superior. My last Brazilian was in October so I knew it would be painful and I wouldn't be as smooth as I wanted; however, I was pleasantly surprised! Okay, so I just finished my second facial with Veronica at The Sweet Spot. I love when she uses her brush technique on my face; it's just very mindful and purposeful. You can tell that she's thinking of the customer every step of my experience. The results of the organic line of product she uses has my co-worker using the words "glowing" when she sees me! So, yesterday I had my first Brazilian wax and was booked with Amanda. I'm not going to lie, it was pretty damn painful..(I blame my genetically thick/course/wildebeest hair).. Let me just start off by saying that Veronica is absolutely amazing!! Just to give you a little background about me personally - I had been thinking about waxing (regular) and getting a Brazillian for years and years. I heard about the sugar waxing and had also thought about that for the last few months. I guess I was just always nervous and shy about baring it all so I never made the appointment. Until today!!! I called around 11am today and left a message. Amanda called me back I believe around 3pm letting me know that Veronica was either available this evening or tomorrow morning. I scheduled an appointment for this evening and actually showed up! Nerves and all! Once I arrived Veronica graciously welcomed me in and introduced herself, got me a glass of delicious strawberry cucumber water and immediately made me feel a little more at ease. She explained the process, asked if I had any questions and then we got to it! We had great conversation which made the time fly by and it also made me feel like I was catching up with an old friend I've known for years! She even gave me tips and advice about exfoliating and certain products to try. I received a full Brazilian and full legs with the sugaring wax and as scared as I was in the beginning the crazy thing is that I seriously enjoyed my time there! Alexis contacted me back right away and let me know she was available the next day! The shop is in a quaint area on Freeport with a private parking lot (between CKM and subway). Inside was super cute and very clean - I was highly impressed. I tried sugar waxing for the first time and I loved it! I did some research and Alexis informed me that sugar waxing is more eco-friendly (less supplies used) and does not burn the skin compare to regular wax. On a recommendation from a friend, I saw Amanda at Sweet Spot. She is super knowledgeable, friendly, and talkative, which makes the awkward parts of Brazilian hair removal not so awkward. Even though I've only had one session, I can totally tell the difference between waxing and sugaring. My skin feels less traumatized and healthier. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the aesthetician stayed in the room as I got undressed. That felt a bit more intimate than I would have liked. I get my legs done every 5 weeks--it takes about an hour for both--and Alice does an amazing job at working efficiently while minimizing pain and making sure she gets every last hair. I absolutely love sugaring and will NEVER go back to shaving...I literally threw away my razor. I went from having super thick, corse, damn-the-Vikings leg carpets that developed stabby stubble hours after shaving to gloriously hassle-free smooth legs for weeks.
