Great choice of food on fixed day menu plus good beer and wine. My ribeye perfect and plenty of mussels as starter. Filled up quite quickly and served from 6-8 but we stayed till after 9 as did plenty of others. 3AA rosette so top restaurant and moderately high prices.

Ever the open minded traveller (and food lover) when I found out that I would be visiting the Wildebeest Arms a local popular gastropub run by a top local chef, I was excited! My excitement extended to elation when I learned that instead of Sunday brunch, Britts tend to enjoy something called Sunday Lunch, which is served in the early afternoon and most typically involves you consuming the traditional meal of roast beef with Yorkshire pudding - OMG! So take it from this Canadian, back home - in Toronto, there are a lot of places that offer a Roast Beef dinner, specifically Irish/English pubs, and you know what - they do alright by the tradition, but, more often than not, you're getting something overcooked and just missing a soul. I've never had authentic British cuisine before, and say what you want about it... but it's hearty, it's seasonal, it's delicious and just feels good! The Roast dinner/lunch special was about 20GBP if memory serves so in CAD $ that's about $35. Everything was incredibly tasty and cooked perfectly, however, some members of our party noted that sections of their beef was a touch over cooked. On the other hand, my order was perfection, my only complaint - and maybe it's the glutton in me, but the serving I received was much smaller than that of others at the table. I was a tad disappointed about this since it was the part of the meal I enjoyed the most. The size of my meat (pause for a laugh) aside, the entire meal including the YSP (Yorkshire puds), the potatoes and root veggies were all on point and cooked masterfully! I was feeling peckish still at the conclusion of my meal and somehow got talked into ordering another UK seasonal favourite for dessert - Sticky Toffee Pudding. OMG x2, this cake is basically like a piece of dessert concrete and if I had about 25% room left before, I was properly 45% over capacity following my consumption if it. But so worth every sinful bite, especially the to die for caramel sauce the whole dish sat in.. nom nom nom nom. I can't say I'll be back in Norwich in the near future again, but if you're traveling out this way and happen upon the Wildebeest Arms on a Sunday, add it to your travel plans Eatcrest Out

Find this one on the food court level of Chapelfield Mall beside the escalators. It's themed as an all-American diner that serves up American-style pancakes and breakfast, hot dogs, burgers, and milkshakes. Because they frequently offer student discounts--sometimes as much as half off meals, especially on student shopping nights--I've had a little bit of everything here whilst studying at the university. The breakfast plates are okay as are the burgers, and their chilli dogs are probably the closest you'll get to a Coney-style hot dog in Norwich. I was a fan of their Tabasco fry seasoning, which unfortunately seemed to have dropped off the menu (it was pretty spicy).

Good service and very clean. I recommend the All American which is streaky bacon, 2 chipolatas (small sausages), hash brown and two pancakes with eggs on top, with a pot of maple syrup, a bit pricey at £7.25 but very good none the less. Coffee is ok with free refills. This is a chain, but the food and service don't reflect that, it's always a good way to start a days shopping.

Caught in the rain again and considering how busy this tiny cafe was it was looking bad, however like Moses at the Red Sea the people parted on our arrival and we settled in for a breakfast. There are only five tables and three outside of the Unthank Kitchen, so it certainly is cosy. One pays for their food first up and on seeing the menu they certainly specialise in breakfasts. There are also various sandwiches, but many are big breakfast bap based. So if the breakfast is the speciality and the price an eye opening £5.90 (there were cheaper options but my word I was famished and the beer sweats were on) I was hoping for something special. There was the option of chips or hash browns, frankly chips for breakfast is a gastro crime, although you'll get more for your sterling. On arrival I was suitably impressed, an enormous plate that sat like a cuckoo in the nest upon the table. It was twos up all the way with two bacon, two browns, two eggs, two sausages with a pile of mushrooms and beans. The bacon was fried to perfection and the eggs perfect. The keystone holding it all together were the sausages, allegedly award winning they were something super. A good sausage in a cafe these days is hard to find, they're usually standard deep fried bread filled garbage, these had meat and herbs and tasted superb. The whole monster was washed down with a big free mug of Earl Grey and I contemplated the hours, like a crocodile digesting a wildebeast, I would have to spend with the breakfast in my belly. Only one gripe for this friendly and good value cafe, no black pudding.

It serves up a decent fry-up, ideal for curing those hangover blues. The staff are nice and friendly, sympathetic to your plight no doubt. I took my parents there and they weren't as impressed, it's not the Ritz, it's just cheap and cheerful with a nice outside terrace overlooking the road, ideal for people watching. Think of it more as a bacon and egg based Wendy house than some posh getaway to impress the folks with. Go to 103 for that kind of thing!
