I'm surprised people haven't rated this higher. I came in with my rambunctious preschooler boys, who needed reminders (from me) not to run wild, but they were still active and wandering around. Employees were understanding and nice to them and me. One gal even said she knew what our life was like because she had two boys who were really close in age, too, so not too worry about their "energy" in the store. :) We found a great ride on toy for $20 (Radio Flyer Ziggle) that's $60-70 at online retailers, highly rated. They were nice about letting our 4 year old try it out in the store and we bought it. Their selection of boys' clothing is not great, to be honest. They had mostly girls' clothes. However, I found a few good items at decent prices and even a full 3 piece suit + matching tie for $7.95. Overall, I got some great deals and I was really happy. My two suggestions: put a few more interesting toys in the designated play area so kids will stay there instead of trying to play with the items for sale. Second, more boys' clothes! Other than that, employees were nice and I was able to find a few bargains. read more

Local, economical, and an environmentally good choice. Love shopping here! As the littles are in need of items that they'll quickly grow out of, this is usually my first place to stop and search. Generally I can find exactly that I need for much less than standard retail prices. I shop here for my son and daughter, as items rotate you never know what you're going to find! My family LOVES this store. They have great merchandise at affordable prices. I have grown tired of my wife telling how poor the employees treat her, how the pester her to not touch anything, and accuse her of theft (asking if she wants to buy the clothes she wore coming into the store). I was in the store this week, I try to visit the store when I'm visiting as I live in Richmond Va. I was in the store with my daughter, she was eager to see some particular dolls the store had on Facebook. We ask to see the dolls and the cashier was reluctant to let my daughter even touch the dolls. She did say we could see and put our hands on the accessories of the dolls as they were a cheaper price! I don't know what she was insinuating but it didn't feel right! I did confront her about the situation, and she acted as if she didn't know what I was speaking about. I've always felt uncomfortable in the store and didn't want to play the race card. I feel my money is the same color of each and every person. I don't mind being mistreated, But don't mess with my offspring! I will not be returning to the store! read more

When it comes to growing munchkins, there is no need to pay full price, so I can appreciate a place like Sugar & Spice. When visiting my aunt, she took me to this place so we could browse the selection of hand-me-down clothing, books and toys. I am sure it's a hit or miss type of place, since most thrift stores are, but the selection for my little boy was not the greatest. I saw some cool books on the shelf, and a couple of vintage toys that I would have gotten had it not been for my suitcase limitations. Overall, not a bad place... but better (and more) clothing for boys would've scored an extra star. read more

Sugar and Spice- Not so nice The employees I encountered were both super rude and most of the stuff is outdated or overpriced-no wonder they don't put their prices on facebook! They also literally have a sign stating that the toys on display are not for play- really? You put toys down where children will naturally take interest in them but expect them not to mess with them? Isn't that what would prompt someone to actually buy the items? I found that really silly. read more

This is a cute thrift store but for thrift clothing I feel like it was a little pricey. They did have a special for a certain tag color for 50% off but in the children's clothing I didn't see one item with that color tag in order to get anything for 50% off which is why am only giving it three stars. read more

My experience with this store was Horrible!!! Kendra is right when it comes to why paying full price but this store is way overpriced. The staff is really rude and really pretentious. We wanted to donate some items to the store ie: three strollers and some clothes, which they quickly turned away because they said that strollers needed to look new! Sugar and Spice, my sincere apologies for actually using my strollers for my kids before trying to donate them. If they wanted "new" products then they should consider becoming a normal retail store and not a "used" consignment store. read more
