Only Porter and Air Canada flies here... so the airport is never busy... There are a small food court area with 1 food outlet?? They would also offer some table services too. I was asked to take the menu, have a seat and someone will be with me. During winter, a lot of cancellations! I was almost stuck here on New Year Eve due to fog... I really cannot imagine to stay here overnight or more! read more

Not bad for a tiny airport. There is a small bar/restaurant upstairs with views of the flight line. Don't expect to much, but it's o.k. Security is pretty quick because there are never too many passengers here at once. After you are through security there is nothing but some vending machines (which take credit cards) and two unisex bathrooms. No jetways here. You go out one of two doors to walk up stairs into the waiting plane. It's a small regional airport--so you get what you get. read more

This is a tiny airport, but of course Sudbury isn't the metropolis that Toronto is. AC and Porter fly here (AC with their smaller planes). There are 3 gates and you can essnetially go from check in, through to security to your gate in 2 minutes. You can see the gates right in front of you as you go through the security check. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. It does its job as an airport. I would take this airport over Pearson any day..lol read more

It's a great little airport - the security area is small and relatively new.... Today my flight was cancelled along with a couple other flights so the "lounge" (post security area) was packed and they only have 2 washrooms and two vending machines....needs a little upgrading. This airport is well used, because the parking lot was packed ! Nice airport, but would not want to be waiting here for a long time, cause there is nothing to do and no comfortable chairs to be found ! read more

The people are friendly, Avis rental counter is probably the best in the country based on my business travels. Very friendly and helpful. Staff at the airline(s) check-in counter greets you with a smile unlike some of the major hubs in Canada. The one thing to note is that there's really nothing available after you go through security so make sure you grab any snacks you'd want prior. As a lifelong resident of this community, I can attest that this "airport" is extremely lacking. The biggest drawback is that their extremely short runway is built near wetlands so there are often delays for the early morning flights because of fog that rolls in, and can be difficult for landing at night if there's any sign of rain or snow. I can't tell you the number of times I've had flights delayed, canceled or even turned back to Toronto due to "weather" issues. This isn't the airline's fault. It's poor infrastructure planning. An airport is supposed to provide quicker, more convenient travel but if it takes me less time and a fraction of the cost to drive to Toronto because of delays, cancellations and setbacks, what's the point?? As for amenities, there isn't much. A bistro on the top floor, and some waiting areas amongst a lot of wasted open space. A single line single security gate which further hampers flight schedules. The security team is "very" thorough. Often to the point of being obnoxious. For a 6 o clock flight, where 3 flights are scheduled to leave within minutes of each other, the single line is always slowed with random searches every 5th person (following the govt security letter of the law) effectively eliminating any efficiency in the process. Any minor infraction is flagged and your items are thoroughly searched. It won't matter if you arrive early. The check in counters don't open until 4:30am, the security gates don't open until 5:00am. So if you think that arriving early will help, it won't. If you must use the Sudbury airport, make sure you have ample time between connections, in the event your early morning flight is delayed, or you have to bail out and just drive to Toronto to make your flight. This is the tiniest airport I've ever been in. I guess that makes sense given the population size. There are only three gates and they are all right next to each other. Also, once you check in, there are only two washrooms for everyone awaiting to board to use. There is no fresh food available after you check in at this airport just vending machines for snacks. The seats by the gates are not even comfortable to sit in. Hopefully I won't have to come back to this airport again. Almost forgot to mention, the airport is quite a distance from the hotel we went to (Renaissance Hotel) & due to traffic it took us about 30-40 minutes to get there. read more

Sudbury's airport has improved a lot lately, but we still only have Air Canada and porter that flies here besides all the millionaires and billionaires private planes. No jets are allowed to land in Sudbury because the runway is not long enough. I've travelled all around the world and this is one of the smallest airports around, it looks big on the outside because of the size of the parking lot, but it is smaller than the airport in Thompson Manitoba. Sudbury could use a better location for the airport it takes about 30 mins to go into town after you arrive and there is no reliable public transit and a cab ride from here into town is fairly expensive. read more

Awful customer service from the minute we walked in. Before we said hello to the lady behind the check out counter she proceeded to spew nasty comments our way over a policy we had no idea of knowing before hand. We were polite back but were met with more condescending remarks. They think they are the worlds top important airport and I wish They would all judt come back down to earth and display a little more friendly canadian attitudes. read more

Sudbury airport is clean. The restaurant upstairs is run beautifully. Avis rental car woman who works Sunday morning is not nice. She needs to take a 'good host' class for tourism. Humph read more
