Finally got to try one of Migg's sandwiches today. Wasn't disappointed at all. Got the tuna salad…read morefocaccia sandwich with a brownie for lunch. The sandwich was just right, not too much tuna, not too little. The fresh focaccia bread was also delicious. There were a couple of thinly sliced pickles in my sandwich, a nice touch that provided good taste contrast to balance the tuna fish. At Fr. 7.50 a sandwich, it is quite a good value. The brownie was yummy too, not too greasy and not dry either. The shop itself was also nice, very small but elegantly decorated with brightly colored paintings on the wall. The shopkeeper is a polite older gentleman who spoke English well and patiently explained to me what my options are since it was my first time in his shop. He also offered me a take away bag before I asked for one. His pleasant attitude makes me want to go back and buy more sandwiches from him. TIP - Migg's is a small family operated shop, so cash only, no cards accepted. Also, call ahead to make sure the owner is not off on holiday so you don't trek over and end up walking away hungry like I did last week.

Mmmm lovely. First:…read morethis is a small little shop, family run, with a case of sandwiches and other goodies that are made fresh every day. When I walked in, I was greeted warmly and all of the sandwiches were explained to me (since my German isn't so good!). I was also informed that he had some soup in the back, a mixed vegetable. (In addition to the vegetarian soup, there were also at least two meatless sandwich options, one with gruyere cheese that sounded incredible. I really like that there were some solid choices if I didn't want to eat meat that day.) After thinking about all of the choices, it came down to either the roast beef sandwich with mango chutney, or the tuna sandwich. I asked which was recommended, and went with the tuna sandwich (the nice man helping me, presumably the owner, said "I've been making these for 26 years, so..."). I also grabbed a chocolate brownie with walnuts. Both together were CHF 11, which is quite a good price for lunch in Zurich. The verdict: absolutely completely and totally delicious. :-) The tuna sandwich was on a fresh focaccia bread that was soft and tasty. The tuna mix itself was excellent and generous. And the brownie was divine and clearly very fresh, not greasy, a perfect texture. I think this is going to be one of my new favorite Zürich lunch spots, particularly after my gym which is right around the corner. Highly recommended!!

Right in the front of the store is the made for take out foods, such as sandwiches (which there is a turkey sandwich with mango sauce that I like), salads, wraps and sushi/sashimi. I normally get the fast option of sashimi (available in salmon, tuna or both) with rice and a miso soup - the sushi/sashimi are priced well and are of ok quality (vs buying your sushi from Migros/Coop, eek). There is also a hot foods buffet (Asian) but it can be pricey so watch how much you pile on! Inside there is a Japanese noodle soup area, which I have tried once - it is okay, but nothing to die for.

We ended up eating the sushi boats. We are from San Francisco, so it is possible that my perception is bias by our verity of delicious sushi restaurants, but I got a very mediocre 4 piece salmon role ($14) and my husband got a tuna rice dish with egg and seaweed ($19) with 1 water $4.5) and 1 beer ($4.5) and this came out to $45!!!! WTF???? If this was some amazing sushi than maybe it would be worth it but for cold, mediocre and less than well cooked rice sushi ?!?! Come on!!! The service was good though. But if you'd like good sushi this is definitely an overpriced, less than tastey option!
