I remembered seeing a deal in my inbox from Subway. If I buy a foot-long sub, I get the second one of equal or lesser value for free. After I finished shopping, I opened my Subway app and placed this order: - Foot-long meatball marinara sub on whole wheat bread - Foot-long cold sub on Italian bread - Harvest cheddar Sun Chips - Bottled Diet Pepsi I made one of them a combo, which explains the Sun Chips and Diet Pepsi. I got an estimated time of fifteen minutes for my order to be ready. I took my time driving over to this Subway. I didn't realize until I got to this small plaza that I have been here before. During the pandemic, I visited Zeal Burgers. Subway is next door. Cool! Parking can be a challenge. There are parking spots behind the businesses if there aren't any in the front. I found a parking spot a few steps away from Subway and backed into it. I then waited in my car until it was time to fetch my food. I walked in. I was the only customer. A nice woman came out from the back. I saw my order in a plastic bag on the pickup rack. One word: Wow! It was my first seeing a pickup rack at any Subway location. It was also cool seeing my order ready. I thanked the woman and the man talking to her, and left with my food. She wished me a great evening. I put my food in my car and drove home. I was excited to have subs for dinner. I had half of each sub for dinner. I started with the meatball marinara. It was delicious! This place didn't skip on toppings. The meatballs were large and flavourful. The toasted whole wheat bread melted the cheese and made this sub so comforting. I have a soft spot for cold cuts in a sub. My favourite sub at Mr Sub is the assorted, which has cold cuts. The equivalent at Subway is the cold cuts sub. It hit the spot with the perfect balance of cold cuts with veggies. I was a happy camper. This Subway is my new favourite location. The subs were excellent. They were ready when I got to the store and were yummy. I love harvest cheddar Sun Chips. I would have got the white chocolate macadamia cookie, but it was sold out. Subway makes yummy cookies. I tend to alternate between the chocolate chunk and the white chocolate macadamia. The Diet Pepsi was cold and washed everything down. It was perfect. Making a sub a combo is an extra $3.99. When I'm in the area, I'll return to this Subway. It's great. (99)

A couple Saturdays ago, I was running a few errands. Once I was done, I felt like visiting a diner for lunch. I did a search and found Poached Dreams Diner in Aurora. I didn't mind driving up from Markham to check it out. It was straightforward getting here. I parked in the parking lot and walked in from what looked like the back of the diner. There's also a front door with a patio that faces Wellington Street East. I was immediately greeted by a young, enthusiast woman. I let her know that I needed a table for one. She got me to a comfortable booth by the window. The catch is that you have to watch your step to get to your seat. It's a treat when I have breakfast out. I thought that I'd be getting french toast. Well, all that changed when I saw a heading for comfort foods on the menu. Nothing makes me happier than seeing open-faced sandwiches on a menu. It was probably during my days living in Winnipeg that I fell in love with such sandwiches and at least a side. New goal: come here and have every open-faced sandwich on the menu. I got cold water to start. It was refreshing and much needed after running errands. I ordered these items for my meal: - Diet Coke (2) - Hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and veggies My Diet Coke came with a glass with ice. I loved it. I wish the can was larger! I needed a second can for dessert. I loved my hot turkey sandwich. There was a generous amount of sliced turkey smothered in sauce over a slice of white bread. I got to choose my starch. I went with mashed potatoes. There was enough gravy over the turkey that I dunked my spoonfuls of mashed potatoes into it. I loved the steamed veggies. They were perfectly cooked. They also went into the gravy. The meal was delicious. I'd order it again. I felt like dessert. I asked if there was any. Baklava with pistachios. I said yes. I thought that it would be a square or rectangle. Nope. I got a roll. Cool! It was perfect. It had the right amount of honey. It was crispy and yummy. So good! I paid my bill at the table. I tipped and then tapped my credit card. I elected to have the receipt texted to my phone, which also signed me up for its points program. Yay! I learned that this diner has been open since June 2025. I'm always late to any party because I seem to live under a rock or in a cave. I'm glad that I visited this eatery. Great food. Great service. Great! I used the washroom before I left. The women's washroom was clean and had a full-length mirror. This eatery is huge. It looks like there's a cafe for those grabbing coffee and maybe a snack before leaving. I look forward to returning for more good eats and drinks. (148)

Facilities were clean and plenty of seating, especially for groups. Produce was fresh and tasty, everything was prepared to order and was hot, but the quality of the meat was not there for me. I believe I ordered an angus double and the meat felt very farce-y, more like a sausage than ground beef. Real gas station texture, to be perfectly honest. Also my first time trying poutine - the gravy was okay, salt is the main flavor profile, and the cheese didn't have that "squeak" everyone talks about. That didn't stop my sister and I from inhaling it, though. Decent enough to get the job done, I'll be trying other items if I get a chance to return.

Once the food came, I was in shock! My plate has 3 nice thick pieces of French toast on them, topped with loads of sliced strawberries, drizzled with cheesecake sauce and sprinkled with brown sugar.
