Le Petit Mona was a nice change from this. You can get a sandwich, panini or pasta dish with tasty salmon or chicken or similar things with fresh lettuce and tomatoes and cucumbers and such, for a good price. They also have lots of nice bottled drink options like Arizona teas and the like. I've eaten here three times and have left satisfied and feeling good each time. Close enough to the train station that makes it perfect for a quick bite before heading out to whatever destination for the weekend.

I finally decided to make the stop around lunch time on a Tuesday and waited a little less than 10 minutes (the line moves quickly). I ordered a pain au chocolate and the pretzel gratinee. Together they were both around 5 euros which is pretty reasonable. They warmed up the pretzel which was nice. Unfortunately there was nothing special about either things to me that would make me want to go back. They were good, but nothing that stood out to make it exceptional. I've had numerous pain au chocolats and this tasted like the rest. The pretzel was good and soft, which I liked but the cheese was only in the middle and not much on the outside. I've had better tasting pretzels for sure. It was a decent place, but not as hyped up as it was made out to be.

I got a turkey sandwich with a delicious mustard sauce and it definitely hit the spot. My husband got the avocado special, which was basically guacamole and bagel slices. So, he was underwhelmed. First things first, this is a very small Italian sandwich shop and market. You're going to find fresh paninis, cold cut sandwiches, and an assortment of meats and cheeses for sale. I don't remember the sandwich I ordered but it was a vegetarian panini of sorts - it had cheese, eggplant, and some other veggies. After ordering at the counter you wait, and then go find a place to sit and enjoy your treat. This spot is located in the heart of Mainz and it's a busy location. The afternoon we stopped in it was PACKED with a line out the door so there were no seats available. Instead we took our meal to go and found a spot on the stairs of a nearby church to eat. Overall this was a super stop. Don't expect to sit down, or to find a restroom here, but to expect to be wowed with a wonderful meal.
