I am upgrading my review of this Jack in the Box from a 2 to a 4. This particular Jacks shares a…read morebuilding with a Stripes convenience store and gas station. So parking is limited, but there is an adjacent parking lot which is always mostly empty, and is where the overflow parks. There is an open walkway between the Stripes and the Jack's. Because they share a building, the inside dining room is also smaller than some in the chain. I've sometimes come here just because traffic is less than trying to get to other locations in the area. Since my last review, it seems the management has done a better job. Everything appears clean, the clerk has been friendly, they have gotten my orders right, and the food has been fresh and on par with the others. You can order with the app, online, at the kiosk, or at the counter. I didn't want to stop to use the app, so I ordered at the counter for some take-out. When I was handed my order (calling me by name), I was told there was no marinara sauce for the mozzarella sticks - that would have been good to know when I placed the order. The drinks are dispensed from one large dispenser that has a touch screen to choose your beverage of choice. I am not fond of their choices, as most contain way too much sugar, artificial flavors, and / or tons of food coloring, so I chose the Minute Maid lemonade. One thing I appreciate is that breakfast is served all day. So, in case you prefer an egg and cheese biscuit for dinner, it can be done. This entire corner is being developed, so across from Jacks there is a beautiful new Murphy USA gas station and convenience store. Catty corner from Jacks is a Whataburger. Across Closner (Bus. 281) is the Junior Supermarket and small shopping center including a McDonald's, Little Caesars, Church's Chicken and a new Starbucks. North Edinburg is growing up! So perhaps that's why this Jacks has improved their performance.

They are located behind Vera's Drive Through on the corner of Richardson and Kenyon. I've ordered here before and it has always been very good. Their tacos (al pastor, bistec, tripa) are delicious and filling. I've also had their tostadas and papas. This time I ordered the papas con carne bistec. This is a huge baked potato, topped with butter, cheese, and chopped bistec. It is served with totopos and salsa, wrapped in foil to go. I thoroughly enjoyed it and barely finished all of it. It was $10. When I have been before, it was a man running the place. This time it was a lady. I detected no difference in food quality or service. The service is friendly and efficient. I called ahead to place my order, and it was ready in less than 10 minutes. The dining room is a covered and screened in porch. They have some dwarf palm trees planted around to provide a backyard ambience. There are fans for hot weather. Tables are plastic folding tables. However, it seems most come here for the take-out. The dining room looks clean. There are no restrooms except for the ones at Vera's Drive Through across the way. I assume El Totopo's customers have access if needed. I cannot say anything about bathroom cleanliness as I've never entered there. Overall, I recommend Taquería El Totopo. While it's not fancy, they offer delicious food at competitive prices.

As I was placing my order, he abruptly interrupted me through the speaker and said, "Anything else?" I responded, "Can you add a medium fry?" Before I could finish, he cut me off again with an irritated tone and repeated, "Anything else?" Keep in mind, I was ordering only a couple of items and communicating clearly in English. I was planning to add another item, but before I had the chance, he rudely told me to "pull to the first window." This was my very first interaction as a customer in the drive-thru, and it immediately felt rushed, disrespectful, and unprofessional. If he dislikes his job that much, why is he working in a customer-facing position? No one expects every fast-food restaurant to provide Chick-fil-A-level customer service, but basic courtesy and respect should be expected. Being bothered by a customer ordering two simple menu items is unacceptable. When I reached the second window, I asked the employee if the person who took my order seemed upset. The manager wasn't even present. Instead, a young employee was left dealing with frustrated customers because of his behavior. She laughed and told me, "That's the manager." She also mentioned that she had already been cursed at by three customers because of him. That is not fair to the employees working the window. If a manager chooses to be rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional, they should not be hiding behind younger staff members who are forced to deal with the fallout from customer complaints. His absence when issues arise says a lot about his leadership and professionalism. This experience was embarrassing for the restaurant and completely unacceptable. I will not be returning to this location, and I plan to contact corporate regarding this incident. Corporate Please don't let one miserable person run a whole restaurant.

It is chicken you can get from any other chicken place. It is freshly made, but that is the only positive I have for the chicken. We tried the strips which were dry and the wings. 2/5 We tried the soy garlic and red hot spicy sauces. The soy garlic was an okay processed sauce. The red hot smelled and tasted like it is ketchup based, so for me, gross! It was supposed to be really spicy and it was not. 1/5 The curly fries were hot, fresh, and seasoned well. 4/5 The mandu was store bought gyoza and it did not come with a dipping sauce as mandu usually does. 2/5 The lunch special was a good price but otherwise this is definitely overpriced. If you are ever in the San Antonio area, try Pelicana, it's AMAZING Korean chicken.
