When we got there, we were impressed with the plexiglass between us and the staff, although it was a bit off putting to see the lady who took our order with her mask hanging from an ear. Nevertheless, the plexiglass was between us and the lady who brought our order to us wore a mask. I couldn't see if the cooks were wearing masks or not. This restaurant appears to be newly constructed and all the furniture was new and clean. The floor was clean, too. The food? We'll, I was disappointed. The Cole slaw was real strange. It has no mayonnaise and tasted like ground up salad. The Brunswick Stew was more like potato soup than Stew, very little meat or any ingredient other than potatoes was in evidence (although, it was not too bad as a potato soup). The BBQ had no flavor at all, so it required a liberal application of the sauce to be palatable. However, my wife ordered the whole catfish and declared it delicious. Her French fries were also good. Overall? While not something I would recommend to friends, I want to return and try some different items on the menu before I recommend against this restaurant. As a new business, they may get better over time as people give them feedback. I hope they succeed, as the facility is good and I love small town restaurants.

I had country fried steak with a baked potato, and my wife had shrimp and fries. The servers did a great job. I love the self serve soda fountain. Nice clean bathrooms. Huge seating area was very plain in decor with tons of wood timbers. No loud music blasting to disturb our conversations was very appreciated.

The mac and cheese was fine but not great, the brunswick stew was watery, and the banana pudding was super liquidy and tasted like sunscreen (my husband said soap lol). It was also mostly whipped cream somehow. The hickory bbq sauce was great, the hush puppies were fine with the cinnamon butter, and the cornbread was really good. The portions are also TINY for the price. Staff was nice but we will not be back.

You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. The gals working at the counter were very friendly. My daughter ordered a catfish po-boy and I got a dinner portion of their Lo Country boil. I should have had the lunch portion as I ended up taking half of it home. The lo country boil was the classic shrimp, sausage, red potatoes and corn. It was perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of kick. The cocktail sauce served with it had a perfect amount of horseradish. We also shared an order of "firecracker" shrimp. So tasty. My daughter reports her sandwich was tasty if a bit bready. The portion of catfish on the sandwich was plentiful. Sally Mae's is just off the interstate and worth seeking out if you are in the area.

Alvin Ord's of Bluffton is my favorite sandwich shop of all time, period. The sandwiches are…read moreconsistently, insanely good. The bread they use is similar to an airy pizza crust, and topped with their three blends of cheese that are melted onto the bread before the meats and toppings are added. I've had almost the entire menu over the years, but my favorite is the simple sliced turkey, with lettuce, tomato (which I opt out of sometimes just because I'm not a huge tomato on a sandwich guy, unless it's an actual tomato sandwich...), onion, and then I ask to add their garlic mayo and banana peppers, and sometimes jalapeños. Their turkey club is a second favorite if I'm craving bacon on my sandwich (they also have a jalapeño bacon!). Their other deli sandwiches are great, like the original with a mix of luncheon and other deli meats. I love their lesser known meatball sandwich and cheeseburger. My wife's favorite is the pastrami. The staff at Alvin Ord's are some of the nicest folks I've met in the restaurant industry, and they're always super helpful to new and old customers alike. The vibe of the shop is like a little beachside surf shop, super casual and comfy, with indoor seating at mismatched tables, along with two screened in porches--one that's dog friendly. I can't recommend this place enough. I'd eat here every other day if I could--and that's only because I usually turn my regular sized sandwich into two days of lunch.

They use a cheese blend round bun. It really isn't a turkey club. It's more of a turkey sandwich with the fixings of a club. What I did not like at all was the bread. It totally killed the sandwich for me. It left a bad after taste. I can't really explain it. It just wasn't good. The turkey was ok. For the price of the sandwich though, I would have expected more turkey on it. There is a much better option across the street. Try Downtown Deli. It is superior to this establishment. Again, just my opinion. Try it for your self.
