There's just something about the breading in these tenders that tastes so good. I'm also not a huge fan of fries and maybe it's because of how many times I order fast food. Most of the time I receive soggy unflavorful fries but these fries are delicious and have just the perfect crisp, in my opinion. I love to order my chicken tenders with a side of country gravy! And let's talk about the rolls! The rolls are so good!!! Sometimes when I just wanted a small meal, I would also order the kids meal. It was the perfect portion. Plus, I grew up in the Philippines drinking Mountain Dew, so that drink holds a sentiment for me. Anytime a restaurant has Mountain Dew, I get very excited and will always choose Mountain Dew over my regular Coke Zero. I can't wait to visit home so I can enjoy one of my favorite fried chicken places again.

Upon me entering the restaurant, you get this immediate feeling of "old school" burger joint. All the retro games that are there for your enjoyment while you wait is a very nice touch. I ended up ordering a Starlight Burger combo with chili cheese fries. My burger and fries were made fresh to order, though I wish the patty was a little thicker, but no complaints. The burger was seasoned and cooked perfectly. With the tangy mustard, stout onions and sweet tomatoes all adding to the amazing flavor. Now let's get to the chili cheese fries. I am a fanatic for chili cheese fries. This was probably one of the best I've had in a while. Not only did the chili and cheese cover the entire portion of fries, but it mixed and cohered like Jack and Rose from Titanic, until I came along and tore it apart. This place is forever on my list when I come to McAllen and should be yours too.

Nothing compares to these. Every time we eat there, we ask, "What is it about the beef that makes them soooo good?", so finally we asked. The simple answer was that they let the meat speak for itself. Nothing but fresh, quality beef and a minimalist approach to spice. The lettuce is always fresh and crispy, the tomato is cut at just the right thickness, the onion never includes parts close to the dry outside or hard caps, and always plenty of pickles. If you haven't been there, give it a go, and if you're lucky it'll be on one of the days they have live music that is never too loud and always from solid talent. Server Amos is awesome!
