I just got a side salad and was impressed by the quality - the lettuce was crisp and I loved the dressing. So when my husband and I were going to my mom's house to do some work while she was away, I did not hesitate to recommend Roots. I got a shrimp po'boy and he got a pulled pork sandwich. He felt the sandwich was a little dry, not much sauce but it had a lot of flavor (we got carry out so we couldn't really ask for sauce after the fact and it was the first time we had anything there other than that side salad). I did see other sandwiches saying the meat was smoked so maybe that was more like what the pork was vs a saucy pulled pork. We both really enjoyed the fries. My shrimp po'boy as very good - I am used to po'boy being on the spicy (Cajun) side and having to ask to have them reduce the heat level but this was not the least bit spicy at all as originally made. Everything about it was good and I would order it again! Btw - when I was picking up my side salad to go, I did see they have monthly specials. If I was not in a rush to get home, I would have ordered the smoked meatloaf. Hope to see that on the specials menu again.

The booths are nice and deep, with seating for at least eight people. My group of five was able to spread out and be comfortable. Our server was very kind, and was patient with my autistic son. The first course was the butternut squash soup. I've never had it prepared this way, I believe they mixed in some high-quality maple syrup as a sweetener, it worked beautifully and was delicious from first spoonful to last. I ordered the fancy burger for my entrée, and while I had to peel the tomato and lettuce off of it, the balance of the sandwich was perfect. Nice and juicy with crispy delicious bacon. My wife and son split an order of ribs and they looked delicious also. I found it wonderful that they had homemade ranch to accompany my tater tots, I'm such a kid lol. The setting is delightful, and the food is great. I would love to come back sometime!

Monday, 9/30/24…read more Review #498 "Where everybody knows, your name...And they're always glad you came!" This is another Local diner for Breakfast and Lunch in Almont called Maria's Place. My niece is a local in Almont and while visiting her for the day back in November 2023, she treated Me to a delicious and plentiful lunch here inside Maria's Place at 141 S. Main Street in downtown Almont. No street parking therefore park in back and use their convenient back door. The deco inside is old fashioned so check out the views all the way around. This restaurant is certainly a family place of traditional dining serving large portions too. The Menus are designed with Big Appetites in mind, so enjoy and clean your plate or take the rest home. The staff truly enjoy their jobs as they smile! Create Your Own Omelet with 3 eggs, 12" wrap sandwiches, appetizers, salads, grilled sandwiches, Homemade Soups and Chili, Breakfast Bowls, Big Burgers with .99 add on. Crazy Big Burgers come with fries. Kid's Menu has several options that My Great Nephew enjoyed too plus his chocolate milk. :-) And a coloring book with crayons to use. Check out Today's Special Board & Dessert Board too for an example from the photo I posted. Maria's Place serves Special Large Meals. So eat lunch as a dinner meal since their dining hours are 7 AM - 2 PM, Monday through Sunday. I enjoyed My visit with the local efficient and fast employees and the Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup and a Chicken Salad Croissant that was loaded with fresh chunks of chicken meat. The place has a outstanding atmosphere, hard working staff with a passion, and delicious lunch. I still need to get back here and enjoy their famous and stuffed omelets! Smaczne I say and Local they are! Phone: (810) 798-3308 for carry out orders too. NO Reservations. This Business is listed on the DDA list - Downtown Development Authority. Sincerely, Karen N. SpecialK :-)

Great menu. Good food portions. Very friendly staff. Love this place. I couldn't recommend it more.read more

Review #473 May 31,…read more2024 - Friday *History Lesson... Founders: Roy W. Allen Frank Wright = A & W Restaurant WHQ - Lexington, KY Fast Food with distinctive Burgers and Draft Root Beer & Floats! I cruised from Macomb to downtown Almont to eat a quick combo dinner before watching My Great Nephew's T-Ball game. I can certainly say that this A & W location (No too many left in Michigan) has a variety of delicious hot food served by several friendly staff employees with speedy service and accuracy. My photos show crispy and crunchy 3 piece chicken tenders and fries and their famous A & W Root Beer brewed fresh daily. After ordering a combo meal, I was given a medium cup to fill my drink and have seat. Then my order was promptly delivered in 8 minutes to the booth table. I didn't get her name due to no name tags... smh but she was kind to ask which dipping sauce I desired: Honey Mustard, BBQ or Ranch. I enjoyed all three one sauce for each tender. :-) I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner and it was worth the 30 minute drive. The dining room was colorful and clean with many advertisements and history photos too. Photos attached. I look forward to return here to taste a Coney dog or burger next time with a famous large Mug of Frosted Root Beer and their New Summertime "Strawberry Watermelon Cream Freeze!" :-) Join their Mug Club at www.awmugclub.com. This A & W is located at 4549 S. Van Dyke Road in front of Vinckier Foods and near the water tower as a marker. Happy hour is 2pm-4pm every single day of the week and again from 8pm-10pm. If you're as addicted to these milkshakes as me and my family are- now you can get them at 1/2 price 2x a day! We made the ridiculous mistake of ordering the large milkshakes the first time we came here. I ordered five large milkshakes which were 36oz each! You should have seen my seven-year-old twins with these milkshakes! They were bigger than them! They offer chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. All complete with a mound of whipped topping and a cherry! Since that first visit and the gallon size larges I have learned to get my self in the kids the regular size. Happy hour means half off the menu price for milkshakes, making the regulars only $1.40. That's a great price in my book even if I am buying seven. The employees have always been friendly, efficient and as fast as they can be. Listen, this place gets BUSY! During Happy Hour you can easily find six cars in line. And the milkshakes take an extra minute to make because they are the real deal. I've since learned that you can phone in your order and either walk inside for pick up or drive through the drive-through for your order. And yes they are open during our current COVID-19 state. Again, the drive-through is open or you can phone in your order and walk inside to pick it up. This place is a little drive from me, but it's THAT good I don't mind. I definitely recommend this place and I will definitely be back... probably tomorrow! Oh- Tuesdays are for 1/2 off coneys! Can't wait to try one of those!
