I brought my Outback with 120,000 miles in to diagnose why a new high beam bulb wouldn't turn on. I worked with Christian on a Saturday appointment. Unfortunately since Subaru apparently no longer makes my headlight bulb, I needed to supply that myself for them to perform the diagnostic tests and replace it. However, the tech fixed a pinched wire and downward pointed bulb for my running light on the same side that gave the impression of being burnt out. I ended up running across the street with the car to buy a new bulb after he advised me to bring the car back on Monday even if I couldn't get an appointment. On Monday, I dropped the car off and they performed the diagnostic, determining that corrosion to the connector and wire of the high beam bulb was responsible for the bulb not lighting up. They fixed it and did not charge me for the repair. Even better, they offer a 6 mile-radius shuttle service via Lyft so I didn't have to bother someone on a steamy hot summer day to give me a ride back to the service department. They're easy to get into and out of. Christian was a star in reaching out for updates and communicating what I needed to do. I had a good experience here -- the waiting room on a Saturday was spotless and empty, with free WiFi. He was exemplary throughout for telling me what happened. I wish I'd known about the headlight not being carried anymore as I could've dashed across the street to Walmart to pick one up. read more

I felt like they were not willing to have a reasonable negotiation and they handed me a piece of paper with their "best offer" and basically left me in no other position than to leave. I didn't like their attitude at all. I ended up driving a little out of my way, and purchased from a dealer that was exceptionally willing to treat me like a valued customer. read more

Took my 2008 Subaru WRX in for a rear brake pipe recall (interior removal necessary.). (Car was there from June 22 to July 8, 2026. Service advisor wouldn't return calls nor give me updates on if they were waiting for parts or what was happening.basically got ghosted. then finally they tell me they're working on it and some bolts broke they need to charge $700 to drill and tap 2 bolts for the subframe. I'm like ok the price is high but let's just do it so I can get my car back. They finally call me to pick up the car from the recall job. I get in the car and the my newly installed coolant and oil pressure gauge's in my center console are not working. I walk back to the counter and it so happens the mechanic was standing there with the SA. I tell them that the gauges aren't working and the mechanics response was "well the wires for those are such a mess back there I couldn't figure it out. (I just wired those gauges in and tucked all the wires neatly 2 days before I dropped off the car for the recall.) SA butts in asking if the gauges were working when I dropped the car off, I said yes. They then took the car back and the mechanic said "oh one of the power pins must have got pulled out" and he proceeded showed me a photo. I get the car back home and now the wires for the gauges are a complete mess butchered by incompetence. The mechanic couldn't ever be bothered to Tuck the wires. One of the wires was snagging on the gas pedal and a complete hazard in a sense that it would have hooked on the pedal stuck and stuck it on. Extremely dangerous and unprofessional. Took photo proof as-well. So that's one issue. The next is they dropped my fuel tank to do the brake pipes. Standard JOB no big deal right? Well, now everytime I fill the car with gas the car runs so rich for the first few minutes that it's so hard to start it and it's almost as if someone made a mistake on the order of putting back the fuel lines / EVAP lines. I'm lucky enough to have 2 post lifts at my house and have all the tools to figure out this issue on my own. I do however feel bad for all the other normal non car people that bring their cars here and get shown this amount of incompetence and inexperience. Avoid this dealership like the plague. If you have a Subaru with nice/expensive parts this is not the dealership you want to go to. read more

Took my 2019 Legacy in for an oil change. The write person assumed I wanted a tire rotation but I did not and it was stricken. The difference between the price of a four versus six cylinder was not observed by the write person. My low tire pressure indicator was acting up. They charged forty dollars to examine and did not come up with an answer or telling me of the cost in advance. In the meanwhile the tech re-learned to computer and problem fixed. THe second write up person attempted to sell me four unecessary presure sensors for $600.00. How's that for incompetence or dishonesty. read more

They claimed that the timing belt on it needs to be replaced - 6000$. Do not come here unless you enjoy the thrill of being scammed. Coming to a car dealership alone as a girl means you need to fact check everything. However the service I was provided was absolutely appalling. Coming in I was looking to get my policy's twice-a-year maintenance and oil change as well as a tire repair. Sean Lucken would have charged me $120 for an oil change if I had not asked him to check my policy again in which he said he did not have access to view at his desk. After checking, my charge came out to $0.00 for my oil change. If you have a lifetime warranty and free services, make sure to voice it to the workers as they obviously do not check. When notified my car's popped tire was unrepairable and a replacement was needed, I clarified that I only wanted one tire and not the full set replaced. Sean quotes me $647 for one tire (not including cost of labor).After requesting an emailed proof of charge and time to decide, I price checked the car part to Subarus site where the exact same tire was retailed at $142 per piece. Knowing this, I clarify I want one tire and in response he says the tires are special pre continental sport tires and so, are more expensive. When I inquired where the extra ~$400 charge was coming from he said he would check with another coworker. After checking and calling back, he provides a new number at $158. He apologized saying it must have been a typo but working at a dealership day after day, I am not convinced staff wouldn't know one tire never costs $647. Giving him the benefit of the doubt I ask if any of his tires are sold for $600 per piece in which he says the cost for 4 tires ranges up to 1k+ but evidently one tire is never $600. I do not enjoy being quizzed at risk of losing hundreds of dollars. Never coming here again. read more

Called the dealership to arrange a Lyft to pick up my vehicle...had to leave a message. 20 minutes, no call back. Called a general service #...get an apology, "we'll get right on it, expect a message from Lyft." 20 minutes later...nothing. Call back, leave a message...25 minutes later, nothing. Called again...they had messed up. I said I'LL call Lyft, please reimburse me. "Oh, yes." I finally get there...oh, you'll have to send a copy of the Lyft receipt, we can't take it off of the bill. The couple times I have given this dealership a chance, I have been left let down, disappointed and upset. Service and sales personnel are unhelpful and often just send you back and forth between the two. Conveniently they seem to alway be attempting to use a new 3rd party customer service phone line or their system that happens to hold all their records is completely down. It is always something with them. Regardless if you are able to show them the records you have on your end, they are unable to keep any promise and from what I can tell, really aren't trying too hard to personally make your experience good. I was told as long as I come an hour before then it will be fine, the total would be 95$, the tire rotation is free. So, cool, don't have to make any appointment I can just come after work when I have time. Seems like it will be easy from here. Get there later in the day, nobody comes to talk to you after the doors open and close for five min. Someone came and I had to hear a lecture about the timing even tho I just got off the phone earlier in the day about the right time to come. When he came I guess he came and stood outside my car window and just stared at me while we talked because I had no idea he was there. Why not knock? Then he said his tech said he is willing to stay for me (to do me the favor of letting me spend my money at his company) and that the total would be 35$ higher because now the tire rotation is no longer free. Anyhow, who can't lose their mind when put into such a crappy customer experience? Shame on you guys. I recommend the owner give Subaru over on Hall a call, they have 4.5 star rating or something last I saw and for a good reason. He took his time, answered all my questions and did not rush me out of the dealership. I ended up leasing a new Outback a few days later. I have wanted to get into a Subaru for many years and was finally able to do it. The team at Suburban has made this experience the absolute best I have had. They care about their customers and even were sure to include a "Chew-ba-roo" for my puppy!! I've had all of my car's services done at my old dealership in IL--and I should mention I've had my car in for every recommended service. And I grew up working alongside my Dad in our garage, so I know cars, and I know enough to know when someone is trying to sell me what I don't need. I booked my appointment online for service work for my 132k Outback, making sure to put on a note mentioning that I wanted them to check my serpentine belt, since it sounds noisy. When I showed up the guy at the service desk (Anthony?) told me service work would be over $2300, and listed out all of the work they said I "needed." Since the quoted work seemed extremely unnecessary I told him I'd just get an oil change; I promptly went inside and called my old dealership--one thing I like about my old dealership is that they don't sell me services I don't need. After chatting w a mechanic there who assured me I didn't need all those listed services I scheduled a more through appt. w them instead. I also ecided I won't ever come back to this dealership. The silly thing about tactics like this is that they've lost my business for good, not just all the oil changes, but the $40k+ I was planning on spending there on my next Subaru (had I liked the place). They never checked my serpentine belt, which I'd forgotten to ask about, assuming they'd see my website notes; goes to show they don't read the booking notes. Best thing I can say about this location is that at least I got a clean car. read more

Very disappointed. I had purchased my subaru Crosstrek from Ann Arbor suburban & needed a oil change. I figured that I would take it to the Subaru Suburban to keep things straight. I called to schedule an appointment & the women at the service desk was incredibly rude and short with me. It started when my phone connected to my car, so the call was transferred. A quick, easy fix. I apologized & clarified what happened. The women was extremely rude and short from there on. I had a bad taste in my mouth & decided to take my car to Hodges Subaru. When I called to cancel my appointment, I had asked if I could talk to the service manager to tell them my experience. (For perspective I'm 22 years old, not a sensitive Karen) Unfortunately, I wasn't able to speak to the manger, but I was able to talk to someone else and cancel my oil change. I remained calm & clear when talking to this person. But to my surprise, this person was even short and rude to me too! Im glad that I decided to go to Hodges. So far my experience has been much better than my phone call with Subaru Suburban of Troy. read more

My son and I had a very good experience with our salesperson Nuo Gojcoj. This was my sons first car purchase and Nuo worked flawlessly with our Credit Union for the loan and had the car in the shop to make sure it was as perfect as it could be for a used car. I noticed this is a very busy dealership as Subaru's sell themselves but Nuo certainly treated us like we were spending alot on a new car and that was a great first experience for my son and I'm thankful for that. While buying a new car is never an easy experience, Suburban Subaru certainly went above and beyond to make it the worst experience I have ever had with purchasing a new vehicle. On 26 Aug, I was looking at the stock listed online for Suburban Subaru and I saw they only had one vehicle left that I was hoping to buy. I wanted to act fast, so I engaged in the online chat their site offers to see if I would be able to have that vehicle held for me until 30 Aug when I could make it in to purchase. I was asked for my name, email, phone number, plus the vehicle VIN and stock number. I was told it was no problem, and received an email from Taylor Corbit stating that I had an appointment on 30 Aug at 2PM with Dustin Ciccarelli. I called the phone number I was given in the email on 27 Aug to verify that we were all set for the meeting on 30 Aug and that the particular VIN I provided was being held for me. I received a voicemail back on 28 Aug saying that we were all set for the test drive of the vehicle I was interested in. When I arrived today, no one seemed to know why I was there. Once they looked into the system, they saw I was here to test drive/buy a 2019 Legacy but they could not find the keys. As it turns out, they sold the car 27 Aug to someone else. What was their plan for this meeting if the vehicle I wanted to buy was sold? To make matters worse, they don't have ANY 2019 Legacy's in stock. So what was I supposed to test drive? I assume they just hoped they could talk me into buying something I didn't want. They tried selling me a 2020 model (which they don't even have in stock yet AND does not offer the 0% APR I was going to get on the 2019 model). The part that really pissed me off was that Dustin didn't even seem sorry. He blamed the "3rd party" who manages the online chat, blamed me for not leaving a deposit (I was never asked to), and said I need to understand where he is coming from. Seriously? No apology for wasting my time or trying to make things better in any way. The 'best' I was given was an offer to get a different car in 4 days with no compensation whatsoever. I had been told that Subaru had great customer service, but the experience I had with this dealership was the worst I have even had. read more

I'm pretty patient when it comes to calling for service... but the phone rings for 3-4 minutes before someone picks up to direct your call, then they transfer you to service and no one picks up there either, or you get dumped right into a voicemail. I've left voicemails before and have never received a return call. If I didn't have one of the Subaru packages I purchased for an oil change/tire rotation, I'd 100% go somewhere else bc this place is so freaking frustrating, they have a clear capacity issue and obviously need to hire more hands. read more

I took my husband's car in for service on Monday for an 8:30am appointment since I didn't want to have the 8am appointment. I got there early and the service staff was excellent. I was able to ask questions regarding a recall on the Subaru and also the routine service. The service advisor was great. I was able to clear up issues with a warranty question and why the dealership had not called my husband back. I waited on site. One thing that was sub-par was that the service staff told me to help myself to coffee or water/snacks. On this particular day, I wanted coffee (which is rare) and there was no coffee in the dispenser thermos there. After being disappointing I went back into the waiting area and just sat down. I could here some of the people working there yelling from one office to another to have conversations. One gentleman asking someone for McDonald's and another talking about the costs and time to take the train to Florida and how it took three days. The waiting area had some water bottles and garbage on a table and on one of the seats. I found a clean area to sit and just relaxed while I waited. About a half hour later I could see the routine service and recall was completed and the car was parked outside. After waiting about 10 mins I decided to go back into the service area to check with the service staff. He was polite and told me he was just doing the paperwork for the car. I made a payment for service and was on my way. When I got into the car, I realized the car wasn't washed as the same dirt stains on the windows and I am unsure if the coating for the front windshield was applied. While checking out the service staff went over and assured me it was completed so I let this go. As I left the dealership, and was nearly home I started to notice plastic on the floor of the passenger side floor. I realized it was the garbage from the air filters that were changed. While minor, the service staff did not clean up after themselves. Took a picture and will be posting here on Yelp as evidence too. read more

Beware of this dealership. My son took his car in for the 120,000 mile service ( which would have included brake inspection). and told them the car was making a noise. They charged $1500 and said it was all good. The noise never went away so he went back and they told him it would cost over $4000 to fix! We took the car to a different repair shop where they fixed it for $1900. They showed us the parts they removed (wheel bearings, control arms, rear brakes and rotors) and confirmed it all would have been obvious during that $1500 service. Do NOT go to this dealership! A little disappointed to see so many negative reviews here. While we have not purchased our Subaru's here, we have had all service done on them. I couldn't be happier with the service department, specifically Andrew. The team caught a serious and potentially dangerous issue with my control arm during an oil change, they said it needed to be replaced, gave a fair price as compared with our nondealership affiliated mechanic, and told us we would have my car back the next morning. However when the part arrived broken, knowing that I have young kids and a crazy schedule, they apologized profusely and provided a great rental that would accommodate 3 car seats. They told me to keep it until my car was done (leading into a holiday weekend) at no cost and we're kind, and timely. I was almost bummed to get my car back. . I wish I would've read the reviews before I came here & eventually got suckered into buying a car here. I have never felt as taken advantage of as a single woman as I did here. I signed on a car I was going to pick up the next day & that night when I got home, the dealer called to tell me they accidentally gave me the wrong carfax & to sign some new paperwork so they could have it fixed when I came in to pick up the next day. After getting my money, they didn't even walk me out to the car, so when he gestured to what was not the car I signed on, I got the confused woman treatment. I felt completely taken advantage of. In addition, the car was DIRTY, sticky and had glitter all over the drivers side & when I remarked, their excuse was their cleaning dept made minimum wage... They're a poor representation of Subaru as a company in general. Just go to Hodges. I ended up trading mine in for the car I actually wanted, had a pleasant experience & got treated with respect. I'm currently trying to get refunded for my warrantee they overcharged me for & it's obvious they're going to keep dodging me & I probably won't get the $1,200 I'm owed. read more

In for routine service November 19. I was told there were 2 recalls but both had been "taken care of". A couple weeks later, got a phone call about "scheduling recall repair". Told that person that I had been told it was done. Few days later, get recall notice in the mail. When I called to schedule, I was told that only the parts had been ordered in November and the work had not been performed, as I had been told. I am told this will take 2 hours and they will shuttle me home and back as long as I live in Troy (even though it's a couple more miles than the 5 that is their policy). I arrive for my appointment only too be told it is not possible for them to shuttle more than 5 miles and they can't provide a rental car. Now I am waiting. Good thing I didn't have to be at work. Hezkiah Bush for the win: patient, accommodating, went on multiple test drives with us; we couldn't decide between the Outback or the Forrester, and eventually settled on the Crosstrek. We drove each, looked at different trims and pricing. We didn't feel pressured or rushed into anything, but it was obvious that we were trying to leave with something and we didn't want to break the bank. While the prices on the website are for the base models only, and don't include tax or anything, we ended up about 340/mo for a lease. We also got the wear package for scuffs and dings. The advertised price is merely for the car which is not helpful in thinking that's all you've got to pay a month. Just saying, because it was something we weren't aware of when checking out the cars. However, that's not Hezkiah's fault but more on the deceptive nature of car sales in general *steps down from soapbox*. Anyways, go with the kid, you won't be disappointed. read more

I had a fairly good experience here but there was on thing that happened that gave them a 2 star rating. I paid them $225 in document fees, which is substantial enough already. They gave me a new plate and registration and they messed it up. My plate didn't match my registration. I never noticed this because they assured me everything was great when I left. If I had gotten pulled over I would have been arrested or detained at least. They fixed it but when I asked for a partial refund of the document fees because of their mess up, they said "the deal is done, sorry" and refused. Which I know is a lie, they could give me money back they just won't because they are greedy. Shop around before going here. read more

The work they do here is good and the service is excellent. However, their phone service is terrible. I got my car done as the time as my brother and mine finished early so I drove it home, but my brother left. I got a call 30 min later from someone saying my car is ready. I thought they meant my brother's car and accidentally called me. I called this dealer back to check and the lady kept me on the phone for 10+ minutes asking me several questions about the car, my name, and number. After all this, she states a representative will call me back. What? To just ask a simple question if my car is done? That just seems...insufficient? After some convincing she finally connected me to the service department and they were able to answer my question in about 2 seconds. It's really not a big deal but just super annoying and a waste of time. They should really train their phone people better. read more

Horrible service. I went there for multiple oil changes and each time took over an hour. The last time took over three hours! No one from the service department even came to tell me what was taking so long. Another person came after me for an oil change and warranty work and they were out of there in less than an hour. They don't even service the cars at the dealership. Instead, they drive the cars over to the Nissan service area. The only good thing about the place is that some of the sales peoole are helpful. I don't think the kind lady that sold me my car works there anymore. I go to Hodges Subaru now to get my WRX serviced even though it's in Ferndale. Oil change is done in kess than 30 minutes and the service guys check up on how you're doing. I'm usually home in less than hour. Suburban is less than 5 minutes from my house and it takes longer there than another deakership that's about 20 minutes away. read more

I am only evaluating this dealership on our pre-sale dealings with them. Because of this experience with them, we opted to buy our car from another dealership, and have not used them for Service. Our salesman, Mike, promised us that he would beat any other Subaru Dealership's offer. I came to him, ready to buy a car from him if he would keep his word about beating the offer I was given by another dealership. He went back on his word and said that he couldn't beat the offer, and would contact me if he could "match" it. I was annoyed about this reversal, and further annoyed when he didn't even contact me to "match it". The way I see it, he backed down on his word twice. Therefore, I bought my Legacy at another dealership. I don't want to deal with a dealership who makes promises that aren't kept. Other than this issue, Mike and this dealership appear average. Just be wary of them making sales promises and then not keeping them. read more

Please, read everyone's review before going here. I wished I reviewed this before coming to this dealership as I experienced some of the same issues people had stated. The sales person Mike did not make the car buying process easy. He didn't walk us through the process so every time he need something from you (info, documents, paperwork), you're scrambling in getting to them, versus "while you wait, we'll need these items from you" They then hide behind their manager's office or service other people while you're sitting there waiting for them to tell you "it'll be another 10 min". Wait was that because you were busy helping other people out? He brought back the initial negotiation paper work and the numbers didn't make sense, the addition was off and they were missing the taxes, so when I pointed it out to him, he was puzzled and clueless, then ran off to get the "real numbers". OH the kicker, after I bought my subaru from these guys, I had some issues with the paperwork (1 week after purchase). I called 3 guys that I worked with (twice, left a voice mail) at the dealership, no one ever returned my call. So now I can't use my car until the paper work clears up. Overall the car is good, but the process and the experience with the Dealership is bad. If you go here, my tip would be go talk to several of the sales reps to see who you're comfortable with. read more

Communicated with this dealer over email about a vehicle, and the woman told me that I could come in and test drive it (she worked at the front desk, I believe). As soon as I walked in, the salesman told me I couldn't test drive the vehicle I inquired about. Really? You should have told me that before I came in... instead of having me drive all the way there to leave me disappointed! On top of that, they were extremely unwilling to negotiate on the vehicle I wanted. They also wouldn't give me a trade-in price of my vehicle until I was for sure ready to purchase a new one.
