    Miller & Associates, Attorneys - Attorney/Partner, Joshua R. Miller

I deeply regret hiring Miller Associates. Why? Because despite all the money and trust I invested…read morein them, they failed to finalize my case, left me without representation, and five years later, I still haven't received justice. I hired them in December 2020 to help enforce existing court orders against an opposing party. The plan of action included wage garnishment and/or levying the opposing party's assets. My representing attorney, Bryanna, initially seemed very motivated about my case. I felt confident in her abilities and believed I was in good hands. However, in August 2022, Bryanna informed me that she had more pressing cases and would be handing my case over to another associate, Tom Austin. She assured me that Tom was "prepared and willing to pick up my case from where she left off to finish the process." He never did. Tom never emailed me, never called me, and never responded to any of my attempts to reach him--despite multiple written messages and phone calls left with the firm's staff. When I contacted the firm's paralegal, Melinda, she assured me that Tom would reach out with an update, but I still never heard from him--not once. My case sat idle in their office for seven months while Bryanna focused on other, more "pressing" cases. I wish she had been honest from the start and told me her caseload was already full before committing to my case. Eventually, Bryanna agreed to take my case back. However, during the final stages--after writs had already been submitted to the local sheriff to serve the opposing party's account holders--she abruptly left the firm. She told me there was no one available to finish my case and suggested that I find another law firm. When your own attorney tells you to look elsewhere, that says everything you need to know about the firm. She left my case in its final stages when everything was nearly complete, and no one stepped in to finalize it. Reading that message from her was gut-wrenching. This entire experience has been incredibly painful. My case remains unresolved, gathering dust. I haven't had the strength to start over with another law firm, and the disappointment has been overwhelming. If you're looking for a team that will truly fight for you and deliver results, please stay away from this law firm. They will let you down when you need them the most.

My son was trying to establish…read morejoint equal custody after his paternity was established in 2018, and every attorney we spoke with wanted $15K retainer. Sean overheard me say we had about half that available, and he came over and said he would do it. We had a one-day trial, and my son has had 50/50 since, but the mother continues to try to undermine him and eliminate his custody. I believe that parents should be as informed as they possibly can about the applicable laws and the process, but there are very few resources for pro se litigants. If you're expecting your case to be a long, contentious, stressful, drawn-out situation with the other parent bullying, lying and manipulating the court, then you'll need someone to help guide you on the best approach to try to reduce litigation. We recommend you call Sean for a consultation. One of the things I love about Sean is that he's an experienced attorney who cuts through the BS. He's a nice guy, which means you have to remind yourself you're doing business. Family law is part of a broader industry that involves all kinds of professionals. It's easier to deal with someone who understands your personal experience. We've had to turn to Sean repeatedly over the past few years, and we're looking forward to meeting Lauren and the rest of the staff. If you're a single dad or a partner, parent, sibling, or friend of a single dad, please connect at www.ineedmydaddy.org. It's a new site, and supporters are welcome to contribute. We're also working on a book about our experiences in the family court and have contacts for a documentary.
