Top tier sub shop. Be sure to order the paninis and don't forget ice cream for desert (I recommend the huckleberry if they have it).

I love a good sub shop. But my roast beef sub literally only had two thin slices of meat on it. It was laughable. They could double the meat and it would still not be enough. I know things cost more now but charge me more if you have to. Just don't make me open my food at home and feel completely ripped off. $13 for some bread and lettuce. Service was fine, just not enough meat to count as a sandwich anywhere else on the world. read more

Friendly service. We ordered the grilled Italian Panini. As we watch the gentleman make the sandwich was fresh ingredients, we got some insight onto the town of Legrand, Oregon. The Panini was thin, but very crisp and flavorful. My husband and I shared it, which was plenty. We also got two bags of chips and an iced tea. I would give it a solid 3 1/2 four stars quaint inside brick covered façade inside the building itself. I would return and recommend. read more

I really wanted to love this place but if I could give it a negative 20 stars I would. They set their own hours and pretty much open and close when they feel like it. I showed up during their open hours and they had a sign in the window saying they were closed for some gonzo reason. This has happened numerous times in the past. This last time I arrived at 6PM, an hour before their posted closing time and they were inside, door locked, ignoring me. This is a real problem for me since I head out to Cove early in the morning and need to pack a really good sandwich for lunch. But this place might as well be out of business for all the good they do me since they are never open even during posted regular open hours. If the people inside had any class, which they obviously do not, someone could have come to the door and told me wazzup. So minus 20 stars for being a bunch of arrogant SOBs. This place could well serve up the best sub sandwich on the planet but I guess I will never find out. After busting my butt to get there during regular open hours only to find a locked door, this place is now radioactively toxic to me. Thanks for nothing dipsos. read more

Sandwich was good and the small huckleberry ice cream cone hit the spot. Plan to return next time I'm in town

We stopped here as we were traveling through and found it on yelp. Reviewers were right, it was friendly, clean and the food was fresh and good. Lots of meat, no skimping on it,and the tomatoes were so thick (if you like fresh ones) . Can't say enough about it. Well worth the stop, skip the other sub shops. read more

Was working with the Railroad and Boss sent me to get food. I'm glad I found this place is awesome. The Sub were huge loaded with meat and veggies. Friendly staff very clean place. If your hungry this is the place to go. read more

Always busy, always friendly service. Fresh ingredients, tastes really good. Very nice selection of subs. I go there a few times a month for business lunches. Never had an issue. read more

Brought our team in to eat before our game, was probably the worst sandwich experience we've ever had. Spent over $100 and didn't get $8 worth of food. Owner should be embarrassed that this product is being sold as a sandwich. Online Pictures are no where close to what you get. Very disappointed, only way it could have been worse is if the bread and cheese was moldy read more

Sub Shop - Grilled cheese supposedly.... $5 - Sandwiches Near Me - La Grande, Oregon

Nice local downtown sub shop. I would rate the actual meal as average. Way better than a subway but not amazing. The serving size on the other hand is huge! I'm a big guy, but half a sandwich would've been plenty! read more

Updating my review from 2 years ago, looks like prices have gone up a bit, and unfortunately little attention to detail on the order. On one of my sandwiches, they forgot to add peppers as requested, and on the other, they omitted lettuce and made it on the wrong bread. C'mon, guys, listen up. Not hard to take and execute a sandwich order. This should be a 3.5 star review. To their credit, they made it right when I returned. read more

VERY slow service. Phoned in my order at 11:55 am. Was told 25 minutes. Arrived at 12:30. They hadn't even started my order and there were only 3 other people in the place. Got my order at 12:45 and later discovered I didn't get the side of honey mustard I requested and no Mayo when I requested everything on it. Someone needs to manage those employees because they're losing that place some serious business. read more

The service was incredible! The young man was working tonight was super friendly, knowledgeable of the menu and quick to put our food out. The sandwich was super tasty, fresh and the bread was soft and yummy. Definitely coming here over subway! read more

Sub Shop - The Destroyer, fresh meats and cheese and soft bread - Sandwiches Near Me - La Grande, Oregon

We stopped into this shop as we were driving through town. We had seen some fast food billboards on the freeway but noticed this sub shop was close by and thought I'd try it out. Their sandwiches were SOOO good! The staff was friendly, good drink selection, soft bread, and some really creative sub variations. read more

Fast, inexpensive, and tasty! Doesn't look like much from the street but the staff were super friendly, and they make a perfect fresh turkey sub (made even better with added sprouts)! "Oh wow that's actually really good! So much better than Jimmy Johns!" according to my cold-sandwich-disliking boyfriend. This is definitely my new go-to when traveling through La Grande! read more

Quick and easy stop, not far from downtown, not far from the freeway. Well made sandwiches, lots of other options, and ice cream. read more

Sandwich was bomb. They forgot the condiments but it was still bomb. If you're in the area definitely eat here. The employees were Uber friendly. Everything was fresh. Super clean. If you use the restroom don't fall down the stairs. read more

I used to LOVE the sub shop, but the last several times I have been there I have received sandwiches with minimal meat -- like one slice! As a result, since this happened (x3 in a row) I haven't returned. I left my review at a three star because if they put meat on their sandwiches again, I think they would be great. I love the bread, the food is always quick, and the service good. I don't know if this is a cost savings technique, but I think it will backfire - go back to actually providing more than one slice of meat, please read more

The subs are great but, maybe a little too much meat to veggie ratio. One big sub is enough for two meals better than subway. Other than that the place is great. read more

This place was great! In town for work and came here for lunch. Ordered the chicken fajitas salad and it was amazing! Huge portions and cheap price. Come here! read more

My wife and kids went here this past weekend and were greeted by a worthless employee who was pissed that they wanted sandwiches 30 minutes before they closed. Seriously?!?! There was still a half hour before they closed and the lady came out and said very pissy "Are you serious?!?! We close in thirty minutes!" I can of course understand 5 minutes before and would leave or just get what ever was available, but this place still had THIRTY minutes. I understand this is La Grande, but you have a business to run, RUN IT. My wife, politely said sorry to her, even though she didn't need to be and wanted to respond back. Then altered the order to make it easy for the young girl who was trying to help her. The food at the sub shop is actually good, but as with all businesses in La Grande you will live or die based on your customer service because word of mouth travels fast. I hope this employee is not a current owner or manager because they need to be let go, and now to make way for people who will run this establishment properly. read more

I'm so sad to write this review because my sandwich was so freaking good and GREAT prices. While I was getting my food I saw a lady and a little girl in the area where sandwiches were being made. It was a two sided sandwich station where they share the sandwich toppings. The lady was making sandwiches without gloves! At one point she went in the back came out and started building her sandwiches still with no gloves. She grabbed bread and then put it back in the bag after grabbing something from the freezer and putting that in the microwave. The little girl was putting her hands on the station, touched some of the topping containers and even sat on the sandwich station. Finally the lady asked the little girl to go sit down. After I left I decided to call and speak with a manager. When I told her my concern she 1st blew me off my saying, "Oh yes that's Betty's daughter and granddaughter". I asked her who Betty was and she stated she is the owner. Her tone was like it was no big deal. I told the manager that it doesn't matter they still have to follow food safety. The Manager said very rudely " Well I will tell Betty but she is not here. They were making their own sandwiches." I told her but its gross because she was touching items that go on my sandwich, so no it's not just her sandwiches. She got more rude and said "Ok fine I will tell Betty." And then hung up the phone. **The staff making the customers sandwiches were following food safety!** read more

If you're driving through La Grande as I was, the temptation is to stick with what you know. Fast sandwiches or fried greasy food. Fight temptation. Drive a little out of your way and discover this gem of a sandwich shop that has a friendly atmosphere and inviting decor. Don't feed the hunger with a sandwich from Subway that is in no way appetizing. Don't settle for mediocrity. The subs here are excellent, on fresh baked bread with fresh ingredients at a great business. My sandwich was excellent and the price was great too. read more

Are you planning on spending an hour at the store and in your kitchen preparing a homemade sandwich with multiple meats and cheeses, onions and sauce? Oh and what about the soup? If you're like me probably not. Especially when I know of a place where they'll make it fresh, delicious and under $10. The "Destroyer" is top notch. By far my favorite sandwich. The new owner is awesome and friendly and the staff is reflects that attitude and definitely welcoming. Best sandwich place in Eastern Oregon. By far. read more

Astounded that this place only has three stars. Best sandwiches in town. Don't go to subway. Just don't do it. Not when this is around. High quality subs on delicious bread. Fresh tasting meat (I love the salami pastrami) and high quality cheese. Eastern students get a free drink with their purchase. An all around good deal. Solid prices and excellent food wins every time! read more

I can't tell you that this place serves the tastiest subs, but for the money, this place is pure gold. I had the #1, which is essentially a grinder. They allow you to choose your toppings, which I liked. My sandwich was too light on the wet ingredients (oil, vinegar, and mayo). The wheat bread was pretty lackluster as well. My wife really enjoyed her sub, though. What was remarkable, though, was the sheer size of these subs. Easily 50% bigger than we expected - for like, $6! We ordered ice cream afterward, and the single scoop was enormous! For $2. If I lived in La Grande, I would eat there twice a week at least. So, to summarize: good subs, great prices. Definitely recommend. read more

Nothing special. The salad I got was sad at best with the lettuce being shredded iceberg (the kind that goes on a sandwich, not really salad material) sandwiches were fine but over all we spent WAY too much on a low quality meal read more

Subshop is always good! It is reasonably priced and you can customize ANY of the sandwiches. Several flavors of ice cream are available and a lardmge kiddie scoop is only a buck! My personal favorites are the chef salad and the turkey/bacon/croissant. They are open 6 days a week, deliver for a small fee and offer catering. Support your local small business! read more

I can't believe it I went there and they have gluten free bread! I went with a friend who said they had gluten free soup and the owner started telling me about the bread!
