Or maybe I'm just tipsy enough, which is definitely possible, considering I usually come here after an hour or two at Dante's. The hot dog pretzel is definitely they way to go for a quick lunch, though the regular pretzels are good snacks too. Rauchwürstchen: This is the ultimate sandwich on the go. A long pretzel roll with one end cutoff then penetrated on a large metal rod then squirted with mustard inside and then a hot dog is placed in. Pretzels are delicious by themselves, but taste even better with a hot dog. And the vertical design makes this a lot less messy to eat than a regular hot dog or sausage on a roll. Raclette Brezel: Both raclette and pretzels are local favorites, so why not have them both at the same time? There were four sections with caked on raclette and those bites were delicious! Kinda makes you wonder whether raclette restaurants should start swapping out bread for pretzels. The thin pieces of pretzel without cheese were a little boring though, since it's not like they had any salt or other toppings.

But this was my first visit to the branch in Zürich-Stadelhofen. The small line moved quickly, the staff is fast and efficient. They know what they do. I chose a Chorizo Brezel (8.30 CHF) this time. And good news: It's as good as at the other locations! I'm glad they keep the standard and quality anywhere. At least at the locations I've tried yet. The Brezel with Cheese was very nice. Perfect balance between crispy and soft. Then a nice load of Chorizo. And lots of nice butter. And that's it. That's all it needs. A wonderful quick lunch. Price might seem a bit high. But for me that was lunch and for that the price was fine. They moment you take a bit you'll forget about the price and you'll just enjoy this very very good Brezel. At the other locations I also went for regular Salami, Cheese or ham. If you just want a small snack: Get a "Silserli", a smaller bread but with the same topping available.

I saw Brezelkönig and their display of fresh, yummy-looking pretzels and knew that's exactly what I was looking for. This small stand is located on the Bahnhofplatz (Floor -1) in the large and bustling Zurich train station, and prices are high (like everything in the country). The pretzels on offer looked gigantic in size, though, so it's a bargain if you want a large snack or something to share. I opted for a savory Swiss cheese pretzel, and it did not disappoint. My pretzel was one of those types that have a slightly chewy exterior but a light, fluffy interior. The Swiss cheese added the perfect sharpness to complement the pretzel. Brezelkönig takes pride in baking their goods in-house in Switzerland (their dough fermentation takes place on site, too), and they claim use raw ingredients without any additives. They sell a variety of pretzels stuffed and topped with all sorts of things, from sweet to savory to vegan and even hot dogs. Service was friendly and fast, and my pretzel was fresh and delicious. I'd definitely recommend this place and would stop here again the next time I'm traveling via train through Switzerland!
