That would be Blow Outz and the wonderful stylist/owner Tanya Lyles. And through it all my hair has remained healthy and vibrant thanks to her care and tips. Tanya is a savvy business owner and her shops have always been comfortable and well maintained. I'm tender headed and very particular about my hair - not too big, not too greasy, and a trim means a trim not a cut! She has always accommodated me and has yet to disappoint. Also, she doesn't try to sell me services when I don't need them (meaning if I don't need a perm, a trim, or color, she says so) , the salon is always clean, and I really enjoy the conversation. Lastly, my time is very important to me and I do not have time to be in a salon for 3-4 hours, and with Tanya, I don't have to worry about this.... it's one of the things I appreciate the most!

Title: I Walked in Like a Princess, Left Out Like a Queen!…read more Trust is something that's built over time--and when it comes to our hair, especially Black hair, that trust is everything. We are the largest consumers of hair products, and as someone who has been natural since 2014, I can tell you: finding a stylist is no easy task. Meeting a new stylist for the first time can be an amazing experience... or a total nightmare. Yesterday, I had the amazing kind. From the moment I stepped into her beautifully decorated salon, I was treated with respect and dignity. She listened to my concerns (my edges were thinning and my hair was dry), and we scheduled exactly what I needed. When she came outside to greet me, I instantly felt my anxiety melt away. And yes--they say how a stylist wears her own hair is a sign of the service you'll get. Well, hers was flawless. She's professional, knowledgeable, and knows exactly what she's doing. She gave me hair care tips, a gorgeous cut and color, and an energy that's contagious. Let's just say--when I left, I wanted to do a backflip (but I value my hair and my back too much to try it). My TWA is together. I now have a stylist I can trust, and that means everything. If you want someone who listens, cares, and will make you feel like royalty, go see her. You'll walk in like a princess and leave out like a queen. I promise you--your hair, your confidence, and your spirit will thank you. #TWA #Platinum #NewStylistWhoSlays

Located in Capital Heights, at my first appointment, it was kind of hard to spot. Be aware of the parking, as some of the spots are assigned. Upon walking in, use the door on the right to access the nail salon. Appointments are made online, and Tenecia prefers that appointments are made at the half hour only. No problems there. Nice selection of colors to choose from, and the place is clean. I noticed that Tenecia takes the time to clean the bowl in between clients, which I totally dig. Also, she uses new new tools, like emery boards, and buffers for each person. My first appointment was a gel mani (with designs of course) and a pedi. Let me tell you, it was one of thee best pedicures that I have EVER had. She is absolutely excellent at what she does. I loved the gel manicure as well, because she actually does a manicure; you know soaks the hands, trims the cuticles, massage, and the like. She totally takes her time. My nails were shaped beautifully, and they actually grew! Woop! My only issue, is that my mani didn't last as long as I would have expected, but that could totally be me, because I'm super hard on my nails. Oh, another plus is that she totally accommodated me (in between clients) when I chipped my toe...see uber hard on my nails. No matter here though; because, my services were done well, and it is fairly priced. I will definitely be returning.

Since slots fill up fast, I went ahead and booked for the rest of the year. I needed to find somewhere that was preferably black owned since the other place I found took entirely too long. The parking is very limited and the lot is kind of tight. There's a parking lot on the other side, so I parked there and walked the short distance over. The inside of the shop isn't very big. However, it wasn't crowded, so I think it wouldn't be a problem. Also I wasn't positive as to how to book nail designs, but Tenicia explained with no problem and now I know what to do when scheduling. Even with this, she was still able to accommodate me within my appointment time. I really appreciated that. I read a few reviews about Tenicia's attitude, but I didn't have an issue. She wasn't talkative, but I wasn't really looking for that. She came off as professional and cordial and that was perfectly acceptable in my book. I really enjoyed the service and the work was awesome. The work was fast, but high quality. After 10 long years, I think I found my spot. https://www.styleseat.com/teniciaingram?utm_campaign=email_profile_User
