When I brought up some issues with my hair they suggested some products, but were not too pushy about getting me to buy their products. I bought one thing, and I did not ask for a breakdown, shampoo, conditioning, cut and styling for long hair was probably around $80-90. If you leave a nice review, they will give a 10% discount on products. I was also told they do free touch ups and trimming for bangs, so that will come in handy in a week or two.

This place is so much more because of the staff. So the store front caught my attention initially. It is off 104 Ave. Great locale. Parking can be found easily across the street in the Harveys and Best Buy parking lot (street parking is a pain and the Dennys parking lot is iffy. Not sure if they tow?) The building itself looks like a historic brick build. The salon is a glass house. So much natural light! It can get quite warm on a sunny day. And shockingly, that much natural light can make every blemish on your face come to bite you. The lobby has your standard fare - tea, coffee, water upon arrival. Grest smelling soap and warm towels in the unisex bathroom. Updated and modern furniture. Skincare and haircare lines are promoted and beautifully displayed. But man, it's all about the people that work there! They represent style! Blue hair, purple hair, dreads, braids, shaved, tattoos, piercings....and skill. I've gone to the salon with and without a beauty agenda. I've seen 3 different stylists. They've nailed my vanilla look. I walk out of there bouncing. Things to know: Make an appointment. Of course when he moved to the south side, I followed as well. Although I have seen him cut hair of all types of heads, I personally believe his specialty is Asian hair: thin and silky. Haircuts are pretty standard: a nice wash of shampoo and conditioner which I honestly wish in a perfect world I could start my day off by someone who washes and massages your head. Then Decca asks what I would like. I'm a little adventurous so I usually ask if he has any creative ideas and let him do his thing. We always have the typical customer-hair stylist banter of how things are going, travelling, and eating. Once the cut is finished, your hair is rinsed and dried and styled if you want. Typical haircuts for males are about 40 minutes and come up to about 28.50 without tax. So far no complaints from Decca and if you're looking for a change, I would definitely recommend him. Pro tip: book an appointment at least a few days in advance, his schedule gets filled pretty quickly! Tuesdays are his days off.

When I lived in Edmonton in the 90s, I found Hairisma in 1992, and it was the only place I went for the final four years I lived there. Even if I knew I was visiting, I waited to cut my hair until I visited and booked a haircut here. The stylists here are pretty busy because they have a lot of clients so it's good to book in advance and not just walk in. They are excellent at what they do, and I remember them getting my cuts right every single time. Believe it or not, several of the gals I went to in 1992 are still cutting hair here. That's longevity! They also use Aveda products so quality is tops for what they are putting in your hair. Randomly thought of this place the other day while talking to my parents who are also longtime-loyal clients at Hairisma. This will probably be the only review I write for a salon, but it's an excellent one!
