My most recent visit was a real downer. Last Sunday I had a free afternoon. It was a gorgeous day so I decided to treat myself and my future dil to a little thrift shopping. At Style Encore I would usually see a nice assortment of Brahmin bags. Which i love. I cannot tell you how disappointed I was by my reception in the store that day!!! Ignored and marginalized are the best words I have to describe it. The purses are kept in an awkward place far behind the registers. So one has to stare up at the wall of bags then wait to be acknowledged for assistance. Not great but standing there several times with no acknowledgement from the staff is well disconcerting..especially when you need to pay for items you picked up. This place is OK- They use a ton of artificial smells, it's nauseating, and makes for a very unpleasant experience. It was overloaded with Glade plug-ins and Febreeze, so that's part of my 3 stars. Well organized, a lot of stuff, but the prices are high, $10-15.00 for used Old Navy Shorts. Cheap tanks from Walmart for the price of a new one. I'll pay top dollar for pre owned clothing, but that's for name brand stuff. This is personal one for me.. they resell knock off handbags. That's a no for me. Everyone is so nice here. I love that they have some Christian music on rotation at this store. Also, if you're willing to dig then you'll find at least a couple of things you'll love at great prices. They have a large selection of both men's and women's shoes and clothing, including plus sizes. They also have purses, jewelry and perfume. read more

The staff and policy are completely screwed up at this store. I dropped off items around noon on Wednesday the day before school started. I guess that's my fault that I chose a busy day, because my items were not ready until 530 and I was already deep in the middle of dinner, bath time, bedtime routine, and trying to get my kids ready for the first day back at school. I had my newborn and a very hectic day that Thursday (the first day of school) so I never got a chance to go back to the store to pick my things up. Finally, I made it early on Friday. Unfortunately, I was told by the staff that my things were donated by then. I knew that my extra things would have been donated by then and I told them that was fine, but that I wanted my bin that I had used to drop things off. I use the same bin for consignment and donations consistently throughout the year. Their policy does not state that my bin would be donated, just my items (which obviously my bin is not part of my donation items) but I was told by the staff that my bin was also gone. I got frustrated. I was not understanding why they would donate the bin as well. You would think that if it was such an issue that they would have gotten rid of my property, that someone would have called about the bin being left up there. At their sister store, once upon a child, I have heard the staff making calls about people having left bins up there for multiple days. Pretty sure this is a policy that would be nice to have across all three of the stores. When I asked the sales girl if they had purchased any of my items, she did not want to pull up my account because she told me that I had an attitude with her. Girl, of course I did! Another sales girl walked over and I asked her to pull up my account to see if I had any store credit since I knew I would not be getting paid out because I left my things up there past the first day. When she pulled up my account, she said it did not show any store credit, and the girl who had originally not wanted to help me told me that they must have passed on all of my items, which could be true... but honestly after the experience that I had, I'm not 100% sure that they didn't just take what they would have paid me out for and not allowed me to store credit since I left my bin up there overnight. I just lost all trust in their process. I love the once upon a child store, and will continue to buy and sell from them, but this will definitely be my last day going into salon encore. read more

I brought in perfect condition name brand items and she made an offer on 4: a black pencil skirt from JJill, a white button down from Athleta, a blouse from Banana Republic, and a new pair of wedge peep-toe pumps (Calvin Klein). She offered me $19. After looking around the shop, I noticed she has a ton of cheap clothing and not the name brands I brought in so I was a little surprised at how low the offer was. I have decided to sell on Poshmark and donate my nice clothes instead, it's not worth the aggravation. read more

Just a head's up about this store and Plato's Closet when *SELLING* items. When you return to finalize the sale of your items, they will bring forth a bucket that holds the items they wish to purchase from you. They will hide the more valuable items at the very bottom of said bucket (in my case, a Kate Spade wallet). They will let you "look through it but give stern warnings like "don't take them out of the order they are in" and one employee even told me I was mixing everything up too much, to keep me from sifting through the items. If I hadn't have gone to Plato's Closet before Style Encore, I wouldn't have caught on but Plato's Closet had actually done the same thing except with a pair of shoes. Due to the fact that I felt I was being hindered from giving the bucket a thorough look over, I asked for an itemized receipt of what they wanted to purchase from me. *She pretended to be incompetent about how to retrieve it and was hesitant to show me.* Even though I did want to get rid of the items, I felt their practices were very sketchy and they were trying to purposefully be deceitful, which is weird. I told them I would be leaving with everything and selling nothing, to which they were shocked and asked me if I was sure I wanted to do that. I understand that they aren't paying the same price or anywhere near the same price that you purchased the items, but they are trying to scam you a little bit. Happened at both places. So if you have something you're selling that you for sure want a little extra cash for, make sure you're checking the bottom of the buckets and asking for an itemized receipt prior to signing over anything. That is all. Oh and P.S. they accidentally left a note with a pair of sunglasses I was going to sell to them where they had either marked its value at $35 or that they were planning to sell them in the store for $35. Unsure of what the total context of the note was, these are my assumptions. It's a no brainer that they had offered next to nothing for the glasses when I brought them in though. read more

I love this store! I ALWAYS find some unique and reasonable prices. It's my go-to for event/party wear.

It took me 5 tries but I finally got my clothes looked at. There are no details about the specific drop off procedure on the website. I learned by doing it incorrectly 3 times! They accepted only a fraction of what I brought in (I got $40.) They claimed that my items were outdated. So much was bought within 18 months! I gave them an extra star because one of the employees effectively calmed me when I had to again learn the hard way. Only 2 bins. 1 with clothing/1 with accessories. That means if you have only clothes, it is 1 bin. Also, the piped in Christian "muzak" was not conducive to shopping. I suspect it is throughout the entire shopping center because I walked over to Once Upon a Child and they had the same music. read more

No stars. I used to love this store but something has changed. Not friendly and unapologetic with a smug attitude....lots of rules and unwavering guidelines concerning the buy program. They give pennies on the dollar and make you wait all day and into the night before you get a call back mainly because there is no urgency to complete the buys. I brought in a laundry basket of clothing and purses. All clothing items that were purchased from this very style encore within the last 4 months. The purses were Calvin Klein, Michael Korhs, and Nine West. I was glad that they could not purchase ANY of my items Because they were "younger styles" that would be better off at Plato's closet. I'm politely told her that they were all purchased from the store and I don't see how Ann Taylor loft items & the like are younger styles but OK. If I bring them back next week they will probably buy half of them. Very hit or miss with reliability on what they actually will purchase. I've tried to sell items here are a few other times with varying results. I will just stick to donating from now on. read more

I went in yesterday to sell some unwanted clothing. I called before going over there and asked when they stop buying. The woman on the phone was very pleasant and said they stop at 7. I confirmed and said if I am there before 7 I can be seen and she said yes. I arrive at the store at 6:45 and was told that they couldn't take me because they need to be done sorting your items at 7. When me and another seller said that we were told we could be seen until 7 she said that she would speak to the day shift to correct that information and to give her about 20 min to look through our things. 20 min isn't very long for 2 peoples items but okay. I brought some other items next door to another resale shop while I waited. They were much nicer and quicker with their buying process. I was done there within 10-15 min. They offered me $7 for a north face fleece pullover. I return back to style encore after the requested 20 min and the woman ( I believe to be the manager) was just shuffling my items around in a bin. When she saw I was waiting she told me that she couldn't look at my items because her nose was itching bc she has an allergy to pets. She said that she was the only buyer there that day and that I could come back if I wanted. There was another girl doing buys standing right next to her. Why not have them swap? She did offer me $4.50 for a pair of leggings and a necklace but felt the need to explain why she couldn't look through the rest of my things because her nose was just so itchy. You work in a resale shop people have pets. Get over it. I got the impression that she was 1. Trying to shame me for having a pet and implying that my items were dirty 2. Was upset that I was making her do her job an hour before closing. Overall they have very nice items and plenty of things I would be interested in buying but selling there seems to be a very bad experience. I am going to give it one more try (hoping to get a different person)but don't have high hopes for this place. read more

They're charging more for SHEIN than SHEIN does. That was really disappointing to see. A SHEIN two piece will run you about $11 after the perpetual coupons. They have them for $15. The staff was rude when I asked a simple question. I love Plato's but this store was a totally different vibe. They just make you feel so unwelcome. This place buys and sells clothes from customers, it is a resale store. Has been my favorite store to shop for years. However, selling is a nightmare. I'm so disappointed because I don't think I can shop there anymore. The woman in charge of buying, Teresa, is exceptionally rude. I was there at opening (10:00) with my items and there were a hand full of people ahead of me. At about 4:00 I called to see how many more people's bins were ahead of mine and Theresa refused to tell me and then hung up on me! I called back asking for Lamonica, the manager, and since Teresa again answered the phone, she refused to let me speak to her. Teresa was obviously angry that any customer had the nerve to ask where they were in line. I was simply trying to plan my time, since they close at 8:00 and they tell you that you must return before closing, I needed to know. I was not pressuring only asking, "how many more bins are ahead of me". I'm so disillusioned and confused. Why would a business be so rude and nasty to customers they need to exist? I've shopped and sold to other locations and they have an organized way of managing buying This store does not, AND they are nasty to customers about it. It makes me feel sick. read more

Okay so I sell clothes at style encore and every time I go there the manager tells me my clothes smell like smoke but what's funny is right before I bring my clothes to her I get them from Plato's and I bring what Plato's didn't buy from me so I bring the rest to style encore so therefore I know she's lying she is so rude to me the manager that works during the day she is very rude to me her worker Bree rolls her eyes at me and my husband every time we go in there like they're very rude it's like they have something against us. I was extremely disappointed with everything about this store. I brought in clothes to sell and was greeted rudely from the start. I saw a few items on the racks that were just eh, was not impressed so assumed they'd definitely by my business casual, white house black market, New and newer styles. Nope. Nothing. Terrible customer service. Dropped shoes/jeans off at 11am to sell. I was told I would get a call but I thought I may have misheard them because by 2pm I had not received a call. I stop back in the store and ask if my items had been assessed. She told me o no they will call me once they have done so. Sn: if u do no pick up by 8pm they own your items and you will not get money and they can donate your items. 5:30pm I still had not received a call. Once again thinking maybe they lost or misread my number - I call them. The lady explains they will call me. I explain I dropped off at 11am and I can't continue to sit around when I have to go across town to handle my business. I'm not trying to rush them but does their 8pm rule get thrown out and I will come pick it up tomorrow morning. The store associate says let me ask puts me on hold and then another person got on the phone and asked how can I help you. I was like do I need to reexplain I thought the other rep was helping me. She re- explains the info I know and Gave No Solution. Lamonica set up a dressing room and made sure my "Yes!" clothes were set aside with my name on it. Such a great experience, especially for a plus-sized girl. From a shopping standpoint I will give it 3 stars. If you are a size 3 - 10 you will most definitely find something. However, if you are a bigger gal like me, its hit or miss. The last few times I have gone in I have not been impressed with the selection in sizes XL, XXL, 16 & 18 and what they did have was frumpy and cheap looking. From a selling standpoint, I give them 1 star. I have attempted to sell to them twice and each time I felt like I was being judged before they even looked at my items. Both times I have gone in with clothes that still had tags on them and they were refused. What they did accept I was offered a mere $8 for a dress, 2 shirts and a purse. I've just decided not to even try to sell there anymore. If you are truly looking to make some money off your gently used clothes, don't waste your time. Most of my friends have had similar experiences. This place is located right next to Plato's Closet. They sell higher end consignment pieces ranging from Coach to Kate Spade, Talbot to Jessica Simpson. I heard they started carrying plus sizes, so came I back to check out their inventories. Just like the first time, I felt unwanted. The last time, I thought maybe it was because they were busy closing up. I receive the same unwelcome vibe today when I walked in, and the 2 associates behind the counter didn't even bother to turn around. The 3rd associate asked a quick question if I was selling or buying; but wouldn't look me in the eyes. I'm not a picky person, but I believe the standard greeting for ANY retail store is fundamental. I don't believe I was underdressed; I was dressed in business casual. Unless, they feel they only cater to a specific type of customer. The place is clean and have expanded since my first visit. If you're looking for a few things at a good price, you might want to check it out. I overheard one of their policy rule: A female customer asked if they will call her to pick up the items once they go through it to see what they will accept. Associate by the name Maggie replied, "We will give you a time frame to come back. However, if you don't come back before we close...we will keep your items and give you a store credit at our discretion." Wait...what?!!! read more

I enjoyed every second of my experience here from the customer service to the high-quality resale items they carry. Style Encore has every woman in mind - the everyday woman! The store is highly organized, color-coordinated and clean". I was so impressed with the prices on the items, which were deeply discounted name brands. Oh yes, and the employees were so kind and were so helpful with any questions I had. It's always nice to be surrounded by people that love their job and are excited to assist customers. There are not enough words to describe my experience at this store and how it will now be on top of my list for go-to shopping for dresses and work clothes. Even though this is categorized as a re-sale store, there were still many articles of clothing I saw that still have price tags on them. The price tag on some of the clothes just blew me away! Three stars because I was totally bummed with the selling process as they rejected nearly all of mine and wasn't 100% impressed with the clothing they were selling. Also, I felt very well attended to while I shopped, but when I first walked in to sell, I got a rude vibe. Perhaps they were already assuming my clothes weren't gonna sell - eeks! So with this being my first time here, I can say that I will likely return and have learned a lesson in their buying process. I won't go for something specific to buy as you never know what you'll find at a secondhand shop, but just to find some cute shoes or accessories, I'm sure I'll find something as I did tonight. read more

Awesome store. I was trying to give it 3.5 stars. But it's a great place to shop if you are looking for higher end for less. However that's also the flaw. The less really is sale price for new clothes in dept stores. I usually don't buy used clothes for the same price I buy new clothes. But their sales are great when it's an extra 50% or more. I wait for those sales. There's also a lack of size 12+ clothing. It'll be 5 stars if there's a way to have more of variety of clothes at all prices and sizes. read more

Store is nice but kind of pricy honestly. Don't even take the time to bring your clothes here because they are PICKY. Brought two large bags of nice blouses there to sell that are name brand, barely worn and some even brand new--they didn't buy a THING. Saying it was out-of-date or whatnot. They didn't accept the clothes I brought in, but some of the items I saw in there for sale were questionable... On top of that, as I was taking the clothes out of the bags at home, I noticed they were still perfectly folded flat on top of each other as I had done before bringing them... so most of clothes they didn't even take out! I've heard they don't give you much of anything when you sell, so I'd find somewhere else to take your clothes. read more

I brought in 4 handbags, was told by the woman at the counter to wait 24 hours for them to be authenticated. When I called back 24 hours later, I was told that I could not get cash back because I had waited 24 hours, I could only get store credit. When they told me this, I decided not to sell the purses to them. When I came in the next day to get the purses back, they told me they couldn't find them and to come back the next day, they would have the purses then. When I returned the next day, they told me they had already sold the purses and that I could have a store merchandise credit card. I took the card, and when I came to redeem it, I saw one of the purses I gave them hanging on the rack, not sold, like the store manager had told me the day before (It was also the only purse marked for 30% off). It upsets me that I could've sold these purses on my own, but all I got out of the whole fiasco was a store merchandise card. I have never written a review on a store because I do understand things happen, but I feel very schemed by Style Encore and will never deal with them again or recommend anyone else to. read more
