Overall, it's a nice outdoor mall that has nouveau architecture that is meant to look like Bourbon Street. It's nice and there are cool stores and restaurants. It's a bit bourgeois but quite frankly that's what malls are for: spending money. Perkins Rowe is where California meets Baton Rouge. With many little boutique stores to various high end shopping spots, various restaurants, a movie theater, and condos sprouting up everywhere, this little district is bound to change Baton Rouge shopping as we know it. Whether or not its working, remains to be seen. A lot of stores still haven't been added to the area, which with its palm trees and building look, resembles Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles. The new movie theater is fantastic and the little lounges / dessert joints around the place make it a very hip, youngster area. During the summer months, Baton Rouge is muggy, humid, and so hot that walking outside to window shop doesn't seem very feasible. Until the Spring and Fall seasons roll around, perhaps the Mall of Louisiana is the only place to enjoy actual air conditioning. As Baton Rouge continues to develop into a metropolis, Perkins Rowe is sure to continue to become a real district worth visiting for all visitors and locals. read more

I visit here often and am glad they are back up and running since the world went bonkers. The theater is usually clean and the staff is polite. The seats are the uber comfy ones that recline. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare - use the garage. It's the easiest. But they are near numerous restaurants so it's an easy night out if you want dinner and a movie. read more

This is a well kept area. It is nice to walk around, and has safe sidewalks. It was clean and offered shade in the summer when it reaches triple digits. They have a good variety of national brand stores, that aren't located at the mall. read more

I live right around here so I am literally here every day. There's a wide variety of shops and restaurants. My favorites include Rouj Creole and Bin 77. I wouldn't say I spend too much time shopping here since it's pricey. I'm constantly taking walks around the neighborhood and it's very clean here! I like this shopping center area with pretty decent restaurants and a movie theater. Main complaint is the parking is extremely limited even with the parking garage. The parking garage is so tight not good for a not so good parker. The movie theater has pretty comfy seats but I think it's pricier than the amc mall of Louisiana not %100 sure on that. With an extra "e" Perkins Rowe reminds me a ton of Santana Row in San Jose, California. It is on a smaller scale than Santan Row but exhibits that same outdoor shopping vibe with residences. I honestly love Perkins! I come here at least once a week - either to pick up food or to browse stores or both lol. I love the vibe, it's clean, parking is hard but not impossible and it has my fav stores stacked together! An evening of Francesca's, frock candy and champing Charlie, followed by dinner from Zoe's and I am a happy, at peace person!! This place has something for everybody and I was told that the men of BR think of this place as a 'pick-up' spot for women. Very modern and trendy in its design. Perkins rowe is a fun place to be. The courtyard square is a nice place to sit out and eat or just relax. At night it is lit up beautifully. Every Thursday they have live bands that come out and perform. My favorite store out there is Charming Charlie's! Jewelry and purses in all colors. Barnes and Nobles is also there. There are plenty of places to eat like kona grill, Zoe's voodoo, and Texas de Brazil! For dessert you can check out rock n pops. The Perkins rowe movie theater is really nice as well. At Christmas time the whole area gets decorated and it's nice to walk around! read more

The Rock N Rowe concert series in the fall and spring is my favorite. It's a good time on a Thursday night to get out and let loose. Bring the kids and/or the dogs; it's a great time for everyone! A high-gloss, picture-perfect, sterile shopping center. Completely void of any originality or culture and all sense of real neighborhood or community. These places are popping up all over the country, and frankly, I'm not a big fan. You can find them in Texas, in Florida, in California, etc and they all feel exactly the same. Alright, just like many people I love Barnes & Noble, Urban Outfitters, and Anthropology, but shopping centers like this always get way too crowded and no one shops at the cute local boutique anymore or the great friendly bookstore that has been there for 50 years. Maybe in big walking cities they do like New York City. But not in a city like Baton Rouge where everything is really spread out. Especially when you can just park and go one stop shopping for everything: food, clothes, books, movies, sporting gear, etc. You can even go see a movie or work out while you're at it. OR you could even just live there and never leave "home" again. Places like this are what is driving rent up in Baton Rouge. If Perkins Rowe can charge $1000+ for a one-bedroom, the apartment complex across the road can increase their rent too and so on. No thanks. I mean, I'll come shop here occasionally but I can never stay too long or I start to feel like I'm in Plasticland where everything is artificial and fake and cold. I get super creepy vibes from places like Perkins Rowe. I'll take the dodgy local pizza joint under the overpass any day over California Pizza Kitchen. read more

Coming form Los Angeles, which most malls were outdoors, I really enjoy the Perkins Rowe area. Several great eateries: Zoe's Kitchen, Kona Grill, Voodoo BBQ, La Madeleine, etc. A perfect place for a family outing...has a movie theater, Barnes and Noble Bookstore and unique shops. During the late spring/early summer they have a concert series outdoors in their courtyard area along with other great events throughout the year - my favorite is the caroling event during Christmas. If you like coffee shop hangouts...Barnes and Noble has their coffee shop and there is also a Starbucks on the corner. If you are looking for some upscale dining...check out Texas de Brazil and the Wine Loft. Need to get your workout on? There is a Bally Total Fitness on premise. Are you looking for some specialty health foods or some high-quality fresh produce? There is a Fresh Market above one of the parking structures. This is Baton Rouge's REAL DOWNTOWN. Great variety of boutique shops and restaurants for everyone's taste. It really feels like you are in another small city. This is a really cool place. Since I'm thinking about moving to BR, I got the chance to see the condos that are for rent in Perkins Rowe. These apartments are much better than the "smelly carpet" apartment complexes that BR is plagued with. The apts are very spacious and luxurious. Many have their own balconies and access to the terraces, which will add to the monthly rents. One bedrooms go for $900 - $1,500 per month and the two bedrooms start at about $1,800 per month. One parking space is included in the rent. The building itself is very nice. read more

Perkins Rowe was designed as an all inclusive condo community within an outdoor shopping mall. It has a great group of high end stores, a nice setup, movie theater, several good restaurants, Barnes & Noble books, etc. In general the atmosphere is festive. The stores and restaurants are pricey but pretty good. The downside is the variety of patrons, including droves of teens. Parking can also be a real problem. read more

Multi-use developments are popping up all over suburbia, but PR seems to stand out next to others in BTR (maybe because i live 2 miles away? moped distance, baby). What you can get from PR: fresh air, wine tasting, people watching, window shopping, occasional real shopping, book browsing, latte sipping, park sitting, happy hour'ing, movie watching, game spitting, urban outfitting, and unfortunately sometimes parking tickets- Don't let your meters expire, kids! read more

If you like crowds, crappy parking and the same generic stores and restaurants you can find in any city, you'll love this place. They tried to make it nice with fountains and cool lights but can you really polish a turd? Where are the charming mom and pop shops and local flavor; oh yeah, in the dumpy part of town (don't ask me to elaborate). I just don't see why this is recommended in so many tour guides and by so many people. When someone visits Dallas I don't send them to the mall unless they forgot to pack something. Perkins Rowe is one of the highlights of Baton Rouge. I enjoy coming here for family days and girls days alike. It is also very lively at night. Perkins Rowe has a good number of restaurants including Texas De Brazil, Kona Grill, La Madeline, and California Pizza Kitchen to name a few. There is a stand alone Starbucks and also a Barnes and Noble with attached Starbucks cafe. There is a movie theater which is really nice and the atrium area is beautiful. Perkins Rowe has a lot of posh clothing and speciality shops, including jewelry stores and sunglasses stores. They usually have music and such on Friday nights for Rockin the Rowe. There is also apartments on the property here with a very New Orleans vibe with the adorable balconies. Also note, parking is tight but there is a parking garage. There is also the Fresh Market grocery store on site. If you're looking for a shopping day, catching a movie, picking up that new book, grabbing ice cream or coffee then head on over to Perkins Rowe. read more

Good old Perkins Rowe. I enjoy strolling through here and doing a little shopping and a little eating. The food offerings are so/so. It's mostly chains. The only place I really crave in there Is Texas de Brazil, and that's not just a regular spot to dine. I will say I've never been to the wine bars, so I can't speak for them. The shopping is alright. I will hit up Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters. That's about it for my taste. Most of the stores are kind of expensive, except for maybe Frock Candy and Charming Charlie. I enjoy going to the Barnes & Noble and cruising through the area to catch a movie and maybe pick up some yummy groceries from Fresh Market. It's fun for Rock N Rowe on Thursdays (live music out by the fountain). All in all, good addition to Baton Rouge. read more

I enjoy coming here to shop and dine. Usually when my guests are in town I take them here. The development is similar to those in Houston. The selection of retailers is higher end than you would find in other centers throughout Baton Rouge. I hope more retailers will open up here. read more

Perkins Rowe is really great. If you're from Texas, like I am, it's a mini version of La Cantera in San Antonio and The Domain in Austin. About a mile from the Mall of Louisiana, it's in a great location and the outdoor atmosphere makes shopping pleasant in Baton Rouge's great weather (except when it's raining). It has some of my favorite spots including Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, Kona Grill and La Madeleine. read more
