The lady didn't seem to be paying attention, parting my hair in the way I didn't want it and missing an entire section of my hair. She even jabbed my scalp with an electric shaver and left a mark. I stood up after she styled my hair, removed the collar, and said she was done. Then she suddenly told me to sit back down because she forgot something. She had missed the whole back of my neck and went back in to cut it with scissors and a shaver. She left a ton of prickly pieces of hair debris in my jacket from this, and it's sooo uncomfortable when those pieces stab your skin! The next day, the right side of my head felt heavier than the left. I noticed chunks of hair that were blunt and cut unevenly. I think the positive reviews on this salon are mostly for the man and not the woman hairdresser. The men coming into the salon were practically glowing by the time they walked out. I felt like this woman is here because she needs something to do. I tipped out of pity.

He really nailed the layered haircut and gave me good advice. (It's helpful but not necessary to know Chinese before coming here. I just showed lots of reference photos to describe which parts I liked and wanted to my hair style.) My hair was super long and flat before but I actually love the layers and curtain bangs now. I think this cut was super worth and cost $70 for the cut and blowout. I'll definitely be coming back!

Pro's: they definitely know what they're doing! I like that they think about what's best for your hair instead of just taking the money. I originally wanted to get an ombré in a very light shade. Instead of frying my hair they guided me into doing it gradually once I grow the box dye color out. They even did a test and put bleach in a thin chunk of my hair to see how fast it could lighten but it didn't. I had also asked for a textured cut like an inspo photo I showed, and they did an amazing job! I definitely see why they have great reviews. Con's: I took away one star only because each time I've come here with a 10 am appointment which is the first of the day they're already busy. They end up taking way too many clients at the same time so it really makes your appointment go by even slower. The last time I went just for a root touch up I was there from 10 am - 3 pm. They were going between clients so much that it was becoming frustrating just sitting there waiting to get your hair washed for almost one hour. I also took away one star because I feel like paying over a hundred dollars for shoulder length hair root touch up that took 5 hours is a lot. They also don't speak English very fluently so unless you speak their dialect language is definitely a barrier here. It's by appointment only. Would I come back? Highly unlikely because for me the cons outweighed the pros. Also this place is an hour away for me so to make that drive and be this frustrated every time is not worth it. But if you're in the area it's definitely worth checking out if you're in need of color guidance or a great hair cut.

Best of all, when I came home and brushed it out before showering, it still looked amazing! *Sighs* had to brush it out otherwise, it'll look like a rat's nest in the morning, lol! The wash and curl took no more than 25 mins to do. Cost was $20 (not including tip). My curls were tight and intact with my baby fine hair. I did notice that unlike Drybar, Ched doesn't put mousse in there first, so some parts of curls were crunchy, but thank goodness not fried. However, my curls held up nicely, and so I was happy :) Located in the same plaza as Game Stop, Arby's and 99 Ranch Market in Alhambra. I would definitely come by again for a hair cut or wash and curl again, yay! :)

IF I COULD GIVE NO STARS I WOULD! i came here after all the rave reviews for massiel and because it was local. i should've figured out from her pictures she probably wouldn't have been able to do the cut i wanted. she only has pictures of colors and curls. i wanted a a line type hair cut, short. showed pictures, 2 hours later i couldn't stand to sit in the chair anymore so i thought we were done. about 4 times she kept interrupting, going to see another client, a color i think. i had a 3pm appt on a wednesday she couldn't even give me full attention?! her station lights were out so i couldn't really tell how much she fudged up my hair. got home saw how CHOPPY my hair was, i wanted short hair, a little texture and she chopped it, literally! after 2 days of trying to get her to fit me into her schedule she wouldn't BUT i had to deal with the fact she had no problem taking another client during my appt. saturday and i am pissed tried to get my money back due to the fact for 2 days she ignored the fact i wanted my hair fixed, even sent her pictures. she told me this is 'what you wanted' UNPROFESSIONAL response at its best. who wants chopped, uneven hair?! she offered to take me on tuesday, 6 days after she messed it up, no thanks, I WILL NEVER RETURN, why would I want her to fix it after all that?! and in vogue salon is the worst salon, its filthy, no one even sits at the front desk to help you, and they don't even have business cards. no manager was around to help me. If you want a real hair cut massiel is NOT for you. anyone can curl, layer long hair or color your hair, but she is not someone who should hold scissors. Saw my hair dresser in san diego, drove all the way there, should've gone in the first place and even she recognized how BAD my cut was, pointed out a she completely chopped a chunk out and it was blended. I've known Massiel for a few years now, I actually met her through my mom and I honestly can't recommend her enough. She's done my hair a bunch of times, from long layers to face-framing cuts, and it always turns out exactly how I want it, if not better. For my prom a couple of years ago, she styled my hair and it came out 10x better than I even imagined. I showed her an inspo photo, and she literally nailed it. The curls were perfect and lasted all night. I felt so confident because of how good my hair looked that night. This year I finally decided to dye my hair for the first time, even though I was a little nervous, but I trusted her completely. I showed her what I was going for, and she did EXACTLY what I wanted. She is super friendly and extremely talented. She has taken numerous Redken classes and is always in the know on the latest hair trends. On the day of my appointment, Kate did not show up. There was no prior notice, no courtesy call, and no communication beforehand. This was after texting and checking in the day before the appointment. After weeks and multiple attempts to follow up, and threats of legal action, I eventually received a refund -- but the stylist deducted the $50 deposit, despite the fact that no services were ever performed. I even had to formally notify the salon owner and file a small claims action just to get a response. While the owner was made aware of the situation, I was left to handle the issue on my own. I'm beyond disappointed by this experience and this level of unprofessionalism especially when you plan your time around an appointment and trust a business and stylist, with your money upfront. I would strongly caution others before booking here.

I was overwhelmed with sadness, disappointment, and regret. Her reasoning behind the drastic change of color was because "my hair was damaged and dry" which caused the toner to grasp my hair more and turn darker. Never in the 3 years going with my original hair stylist has she had issues bleaching or toning my hair. I believe Vanessa does not have the proper experience to work with someone with my hair. She then offered to make it better by trying to lighten it but I have completely lost my trust for her. I didn't want her to continue working on my hair or even cutting it. She did not charge me for the service. My advice from this experience would be to do your research when looking for someone to work on your hair. Your hair is not like your nails where if you were to not like them you can take simply take them off. This is my hair that took me YEARS to get to a stable blonde color that I love for my skin, body, and face.
