This last weekend, I was in such a hurry because I was late to warm up for my game. I rushed in the door and was immediately greeted by my team and my coach. Garet, one of the staff that I know, offered to take my bag and stick straight back to our locker room. The cold air stung my lungs as I jogged with my team around the rink. As we jogged past the bleachers, I recognized the familiar stands where my hockey family has cheered me on for years.
Before I started playing hockey, I would go to public skate a lot. It's very affordable, it's only 6.00 dollars per person and you get to stay for as long as you want. If you want, you can stay from when it starts to when it ends with family and friends. They put on colored lights and project them onto the ice and if you get thirsty or hungry, you can step into the lobby where you can purchase snacks and drinks. They also rent out skates and helmets. If you bring your own skates, you can get them sharpened when you are done. People there are so caring, and if you need something, you can have it, just walk into the lobby and get it!
