They are very accommodating and will even help you book at another Study Hut location if they are full and you are in a bind. There are many different tutors to fit your child's needs. Erika is above and beyond our favorite. She not only teaches more that one subject really well, but she is extremely patient and understands the stress that these kids are under. Not only is the location seriously gorgeous ( 1 block from the ocean ) all the employees seem really chill, nice and have always been most accommodating and flexible and really treat my (usually moody) teenager with compassion and kindness. I have never written a Yelp Review before, but this was very important to me. My son struggled in high school and was failing and falling behind. Unfortunately half the class was failing in math because the math teacher couldn't explain how to do the problems herself. A friend told us about Study Hut and we thought it was worth a try. I never imagines the success we would have! Justin sat down with us and went over all of my son's grades in PowerSchool. He talked about what subjects we wanted to tackle. We focused on Math. He connected my son with the perfect tutor right off he bat. Kelepi was patient and was able to speak in a way that allowed my son to grasp each and every concept without feeling stupid. These tutors are natural born teachers and understand what it is like to be a student. They are relatable and help to provide a low pressure environment that allows the kids to learn. We had one tutor that didn't have the patience my son needed, and as soon as I told Justin, he found someone new and it was just the right fit. Justin was also great at accommodating a very difficult schedule and changing times and dates when there was a test coming up or scheduling conflicts with school and tournaments. We used Study Hut for 3 years in High School and we are now using them (via Zoom) to help my son with a very difficult statistics class in college. Unprofessional, loud, cramped. I went here as a last resort for a Algebra 2 test to try and get help, and for my second ever visit there, I had first a nice and pretty productive tutor for the first hour; but focusing was very hard as you can hear EVERYONE from everywhere. It is worse if you're downstairs, as you can hear noise from other tutors/students above, to the left, right, behind, and in front of you. I was upstairs this day and it was equally as loud and hard to focus because there were at least 7 overlapping voices. The second tutoring hour session was with a new tutor. In the session he seemed agitated and very annoyed that I couldn't grasp the concept he tried to teach (seeing as it was different than how I was first taught by my primary teacher). At the end of the session he said "are you able to stay for another hour because to be honest you are no where near ready for this test... yk there's just only so much I can teach someone like you in an hour" (which first of all destroys any and all confidence someone may have, and second of all it was 9pm on a Thursday), after he said this, before I could respond, another tutor in an entirely other room exclaimed "oh god I feel you with that" referring to the statement "there's only so much I can teach you in an hour". My parent heard the whole conversation and was equally as shocked. After leaving the building I had a break down and my confidence was so shaken that even my parent didn't want me to take the test, knowing that what he said undid anything I might have learned , as it placed so much doubt in my mind about my capabilities. Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had. The tutors do not know how to do their job, they're disrespectful, and they don't teach you lessons that need to be taught! they cost way to much, and they don't do anything to try to help you. Stay away at all costs! read more

As a student I can officially say this place is great! I have been struggling in math and this place has really helped me out!

to make a long story short: my son is a 6th grader at a local middle school. His teacher waited ONE WEEK before the end of the school year to notify me that he was failing math. In the same email she informed me that my son had the opportunity to retake 6 optional exams to replace them for a better grade within 4 days on top of the 6 exams that were REQUIRED to be taken as part of his final grade. With very little time i began scrambling in search of a solution. I called study hut and they were able to get my son in for 3 sessions on extremely short notice. the price point- extremely affordable. My son worked with Marissa and after only 3 sessions in less than 1 week he raised his grade from an F to a C. I could not be happier. Thank you to Marissa and the Study Hut staff for being so accommodating. We will definitely be coming back next school year. read more

The tutors here are patient and extremely knowledgeable in their subjects of expertise. They are also natural teachers that know how to establish a good connection with their students and they are experts at assessing a student's fundamental knowledge and skill level. I used them for my son who struggled with math for years. He hated math until he started working with Study Hut. He was happy to go to tutoring and he told me he thought math was fun after just a couple of weeks. I couldn't believe that statement came out of his mouth. They went back to the basics with him and helped him build a solid foundation of knowledge in the subject matter while also helping him tackle his present assignments. These tutors are top-notch and your kids will enjoy working with them. My daughter has anxiety and self confidence issues and was going to Study Hut for tutoring for Algebra I. She would come back from her session more upset as she would say the tutor didn't have any patience with her. He would sigh and groan when she couldn't get the concepts. Sure my daughter may need some extra sessions for her to grasp the work, but I don't want an environment that makes her feel worse and less confident in herself. read more

We first discovered Study Hut during my daughter's sophomore year in high school. She was drowning with a super rigorous academic schedule at a school that was pretty much sink or swim. Study Hut came highly recommended and became a lifeline for her. In speaking with the owner, Justin - he seemed to know instinctively who to place my daughter with. We needed a tutor that was versatile, yet particularly strong in math and science. My daughter spent the rest of that year meeting with Daisy several times a week - who helped her to not just survive, but to THRIVE in all of her classes. When Daisy moved that summer, I didn't think lightening could strike twice, but it did - when Justin matched my daughter up with Loie (who she spent the next two years studying with). Loie helped her achieve the highest grades in the class in both Pre-Calc and Calculus. He is the "math whisperer" - helping her to comprehend the concepts in a way the teacher never could. He is equally good in science as well and even ended up working with her on ACT prep, helping her to raise her scores high enough to qualify for the honors programs in college. Whether your child is older or younger, smarter or struggling, I can guarantee Study Hut has the right tutor for him or her.
