Had Botox with Maria. She was fantastic - friendly, thorough, and thoughtful. She listened to my concerns and was never pushy about additional procedures. She was so gentle, I could barely feel the needle pricks. The front desk attendants were also very personable and helpful. I visited the studio yesterday to do a consult about some dark spots I had from acne ahead of my wedding. I was told by Merve that I should do fraxel spot treatment. She said it would be $50 per session and she suggests booking a package of 3 sessions. She didn't have availability to do it that but suggested I book the next day with Sophie. It is a little bit of a trip for me to visit the medspa and I had to step away from work. When I arrived the next day Sophie said it's not a good idea to do it. This contradicts the opinion of the other aesthetician. Sophie said she called her medical director Maria and Maria did not approve the treatment. Maria called me to apologize and when I called out it's not fair for me to come two days in a row get different opinions and not get the service, she said I didn't not approve the service, you can do it if you want but we don't have time today. It's so disappointing to be super busy and make two trips and get contradicting opinions. It's also scary had I done the treatment and it caused damage ahead of my wedding. The lack of consistency in the opinions of the aestheticians is scary and hurts the credibility of the medspa. I don't recommend going here. read more

I had a Microneedling appointment on February 25. Three hours before my appointment, the receptionist called, asking me to come an hour earlier due to overbooking. I could do 30 minutes earlier, but after some back and forth, we agreed on 45 minutes earlier, so I canceled a conference call to be at the Brooklyn studio on time. Upon arrival, I was told my appointment had been moved back to the original time, and the equipment wasn't even in the studio. The receptionist said she texted me an hour before, but I was on the subway with no signal. She didn't follow up with a call to ensure this last-minute change was communicated effectively. The staff seemed frustrated and dismissive, insisting, "but I texted you," and that was the extent of their effort. This is the second time I've dealt with overbooking and equipment issues. Previously, my face was numbed for 1.5 hours, only to leave without treatment because the equipment wasn't available. They later sent a complimentary session, but lidocaine left on for over an hour can be problematic. No one seems to be managing these issues to prevent them from happening again and I think the customers should be informed of the above pattern. read more

A bit of background, I have also hated the way my face was so squarish and wide. No matter how much weight I lose, my cheeks remain chubby and my jawline is so squarish. 100% due to the fact that that's how Koreans are built. I read online how botox can help contour your face so I looked online to see if there was a place in NYC that I can try out. I've done this before in Jersey and did not see much results and assumed it was because I got it from a family friend and this was not her expertise. I walked in with low expectations and thought it wasn't much money going to waste if it did not work out since I paid almost the same amount as I did in Jersey (I know! I am a bit mindblown that it costs the same). Let me tell you, I literally see results and am so happy it is in the city. I already booked a follow up appointment and will be making this part of my beauty routine. My guy as well as many other people tell me I don't need it and I am just blowing cash, but ladies and gent, don't let anyone tell you not to do something that will make you feel better about yourself. I personally do not think there is anything wrong with doing something that makes you feel more confident, especially if it does not require any invasive procedures (not that I am opposed to it. Just not for me). If you are interested in botox face contouring, try this place out. Prices vary depending on how much botox is used. One disclaimer: I hate needles so it is a personal problem, but wow was it painful! I felt drop of botox go into my face. Thank goodness it was temporary, but wow, it really made me tear up. read more

I am a black woman who went to Studio MD Soho for a laser session - chin on October 4th 2024. Both sides of my chin ended up burnt following that laser session. I made the provider aware of the fact that the laser intensity was too high as compared to previous sessions. She told me that she did use the same intensity as my usual provider usually uses, and I seriously doubted it because I ended up burnt, which never happened before during previous laser sessions at StudioMD. This led to a first-degree burn that required medical treatment. I sent them pictures of both sides of my chin by email for their reference, and expecting them to come back to me with at least an apology. I have not received any email or written note from StudioMD with at least an apology and corrective actions from their side. Do not ever go there if you are seriously looking for a high-quality and safe experience, and a respectful customer service. read more

I submitted the following complaint to the BBB on 9.22.23 and StudioMD never responded. -- On 06.16.2022 after having 4 sessions of tattoo laser removal at StudioMD Soho, I went to their Brooklyn location for the 5th session. The technician in BK Dana burned my chest with the laser and also zapped an existing keloid that was near the tattoo. I knew something was wrong with the amount of time the tech took to do the procedure (it's a small tattoo - needs no more than 5 mins but she took almost 20). I contacted StudioMD the next day with pictures when I was able to take the bandage off my chest and saw the LARGE BURN on my chest along with another burn. The way they taped the bandage also led to the tape ripping my skin off since it was so sensitive. Jacqueline Garrity emailed back saying sorry. I asked for a refund which never materialized. I didn't know what to do about the burns since it was oozing and painful, near my breasts and it was also about to get very hot (summer). They had me wait weeks to see their technician Nancy (not even a doctor) who tried to deny any wrongdoing and blame it on me. Why the hell would I burn my own chest in multiple places???? The best she could do was give me a bleaching cream to put on once it healed, which took weeks to heal. When you have a laser burn, it can't be exposed to sunlight so I was wearing turtlenecks and high neck shirts the whole summer. Their negligence hindered my work, my lifestyle, and enjoyment of summer since I constantly had to cover up so no tanning and put ointment (which I had to buy myself and no sun exposure). Nobody was going to hire me to model anything with visible burns on my chest. Who wants a big BLACK BURN right above their breasts? It's been 464+ days (1 year and 3 months as of 9.22.23) since the burns occurred and it's still big and black on my chest. I haven't received any refund for the remaining sessions I had purchased (I didn't trust them to go back to do anything) nor any previously paid sessions. If you're interested in Botox and fillers and are looking for a particularly talented doctor, Dr Vafa is your person. After doing a solid amount of research all over the internet, I setup a "consultation" with Dr Vafa where I basically told him what I wanted to achieve and he let me know what I needed to do. There is numbing in the product that's injected, so it hurt much less than I expected. It's totally manageable - just close your eyes and let Dr Vafa do his thing. He's fast- there is no countdown and you're finished before you know it. I'm really pleased with my results and still have one session to go. As a side note, Dr Vafa does some pretty magical work on noses with filler. If you've considered a nose job you should check this out first! read more

They did not solve my problem ( a deep wart on my hand ), they actually aggravated it, i had to have a proper surgery to remove it. They are not doctor, nor dermatologists. They just get the money, very aware that they are not able to do the job you are asking for, but they do not care about the health of other people. I am totally disgusted. When i asked them to reduce the bill that they charged me, since the job that they did was a disaster and the person who treated me totally INCOMPETENT, they never answered me. 5/5 update: After 4 visits and giving it time, I was hoping this result would get better but it's the same. It's lumpy and uneven. Very noticeable. I'm so self-conscious about it and it's affecting me really badly. She recommend that I go get it redone elsewhere & while that's what I will have to do because I just can't leave it like this. I know sometimes results just aren't what we expect, however, I think it's fair to expect a certain level of quality in this neighborhood and at this price point. At $800 for volbella (which is not an expensive filler but as in all things you pay for the expertise) it should be absolutely perfectly placed. I think Kysse is a better choice for this area but the issue isn't the product, it is the placement, in my case. She dissolved and Re-did an area on the same day & it just wasn't right. I have one normal side and one wonky one. When I came in I wasn't happy with how it looked so the entire idea was improvement (seems obvious). I was told "well when you came in it didn't look great." Why would one pay for you to make something better if it was great when they came in? Sadly, this will have to be entirely dissolved and redone at my expense. I think it's quite patient of me to give it 4 visits & I really thought it would eventually get done properly. I am on the waitlist at an office that my previous injector from another city recommended. I regret not going their first but I assumed no place would stay open here if they didn't do good work. I'll end up paying 1600 for this to be done correctly & that's just unfair. If you won't stand by your work until it's done properly, you should refund the customer. That's my opinion. Updating the review after visit #4 for lip filler. I have a big lump that looks like a finger print over the RIGHT lip, just got this done today. The size/shape of the lips still aren't matching yet* but since it was today I'm hoping that is just swelling since I've now gone back 4 times. I still see a major difference in the product placement between the R and the L sides. The R has a "tube" on the top portion of the lip, and you can actually see the product, like a bubble, which to me isn't very attractive (the whole idea in my case is not to see it). I like a natural appearance. Might need to go somewhere else. This will end up costing $1650 if I need to go have it all re-done. Going elsewhere was recommended to me today at my appointment, which is a bummer. But it's honest. I am surprised that this is the best they can do here. My expectation was that this would be fixed completely. I'll give it a day and see if this smooths out. read more

Updated Review: Shortly after posting the review below, the StuioMD operations manager contacted me to apologize and ask if I would come back with a consultation with another employee. I was rescheduled with Jennifer at the midtown location. Jennifer was so kind and personable, she provided a reasonable quote based on the size of the tattoo, explained how many sessions would be required for removal, and ensured that I was comfortable during the treatment. With a much improved experience, I chose to purchase a package for 6-sessions. StudioMD made great efforts to correct for a formerly negative experience, and ensure my experience with them moving forward was positive. I will continue treatment with StudioMD, and would recommend them to others. ------------------------------------------------------- Horrible experience with a consultation for laser tattoo removal. The consultation was with Nancy, she is incredibly rude and incompetent. I have a tattoo that measures 4.5 inches by 1/2 an inch - which equates to 2.25 square inches. Yet was quoted $269 per session, when the cost is advertised as $129 for the first square inch plus an additional $10 per square inch. I told Nancy the pricing was incorrect, the tattoo was not large enough to correlate to that size. So she took out a measuring tape, and measured it in cm - not inches but equated 1 cm to 1 in. She measured the length as 16 cm - recalculated and said Its actually more than $269 now. Nancy magically came up with a new area equivalent to 8 square inches. I said she was calculating a square inch wrong. She threw her phone, with the calculator app open, in my face and told me to calculate it myself then - utilizing a snotty tone. I said do not talk to me like that, and she stormed out of the room. Note that I have had the same tattoo treated by LaserAway, and was billed for a 3 square inch tattoo. Additionally, I have a PhD in physics and can assure you the tattoo is far from 8 square inches. The front-desk didn't do anything to remedy the situation - other than offer an appointment at another location. Nancy is clearly incapable of basic math, and interpersonal skills. I would advocate that you do not trust someone with her skillset to do anything to your body. Frankly, I believe that StudioMD should be embarrassed to have someone with her technical incompetency, lack of professionalism, and poor interpersonal skills on their team. read more
