Colleen has worked with my hair twice now, first time was a trim with partial highlights on my dark curly hair. My hair looked great after that one appointment, no brassy orange color at all! The second time I went in for a keratin treatment. I let her know I wanted my hair straighter and more manageable but I still wanted to have volume and she did just that! When I met Colleen my hair was like straw from having bleached and colored it for many years. Then I found Colleen. She came up with a plan to restore the life back to it by gently adding low lights and highlights to allow the hair to grow out in a healthy way without taking away the blonde I was so attached to. I found Colleen through a Groupon and came in on a Wed. for a baby trim. I explained that my hair had been burned several years ago and I had been growing it back ever since. I said my goal was to keep the length, as it was now finally well past my shoulders. During my haircut, she identified what she called a "shelf," or a short layer left by my last haircut. My last haircut had been several months prior, and I had never noticed. When we finished, I told Colleen I was trying to make it to another appt. on time, but she proceeded to show me a portfolio of headshots of herself and asked me to pick my favorites. I found this odd and unprofessional for a first meeting, but I was polite. When I got home later, I noticed my hair was uneven. I called Colleen right away and came back the next day to let her fix it. She started cutting more to even it out. She cut on both sides, leaving it so short, I had to ask how many inches she had cut total. She said, "Wasn't Wed. my busy day? When I had to get up at 7:30 for my meeting?" referencing the small talk she made with me the other day. She couldn't rememberer and didn't know how much of my hair she had cut. I couldn't wait to get out of there and see what I looked like after washing out the blowout. As I suspected, my hair was ruined. I had a mullet, nothing but a tail left in the back. I immediately asked for a refund. She was reluctant and said it would imply she was incompetent. This whole experience was so bizarre and shattering. I lost all the length I had spent almost 4 years growing back. She did issue the refund after more of a back and forth, which was stressful. Colleen is great. I have very thick hair and like a very short cut. Until Colleen, I had never found a stylist who could cut it right, and it always looked like a bush or a man's haircut. Colleen does a great job of texturing and doing all the detail work that makes my hair come out exactly the way I want it, every time. She is a wonder! I highly recommend her, especially for those with short hair. She is also very warm and friendly and makes you feel really at home. Her salon is really cool -- she has an individual room in a larger salon, so there is total privacy and quiet, and a chair to sit in if you come with a friend (or a child). I bring my son (12), who likes a traditional short boy's hair cut, and my daughter (15) who is growing out her hair (it's shoulder length right now) and Colleen always makes it look like it's a real cut, and not just an awkward growing-out style. She does such a nice job with it that it continues to look good for several months until we come in again. I can't say enough good things about Colleen. I'd give her 6 stars if I could. read more
