History
Established in 2005.
In 2005, after a 19-year teaching career in the elementary classroom, Meg Roberts decided to redirect her love of teaching and combine it with her passion for sewing, and opened Studio Stitch. Since its inception, Meg has taught hundreds of children, teens and adults the art and skill of sewing.
When Meg retired in December of 2025, Kim was ready to step in and keep her legacy alive for the next generation of creative kids.
Meet the Business Owner: Kim W.
I’m Kim Whaley, a passionate sewist whose love for the craft began with my great grandma’s vintage sewing machine and countless hours of YouTube tutorials. My sewing journey started humbly in an uninsulated garage, where a simple folding table and chair served as my first studio, and my Bernina—the exact same model as my Grandma’s—became my trusted companion.
In 2022, I landed my first professional sewing job at The Fitting Image, where I progressed to the coveted Consew machine desk and worked on everything from bridal gowns to paramedic gear. After gaining that invaluable experience, I returned to my growing garage studio with bigger dreams. I launched my business, Ravenwood Clothing Co., crafting and selling medieval and Renaissance costume accessories—veils, hats, bags, and more—while also taking on personal tailoring projects for local friends.
Every stitch I take continues to honor the legacy of the women who inspired me and fuels my excitement for the creations yet to come.
