Our son needed some simple attractive headshots for his Linkedin profile, and that's exactly what we got. Which certainly sounds like damning with faint praise, but they were exactly what we needed, the price was outstanding, and it was FAST! read more

I needed professional photos for my residency application and Nick was amazing and talented. He took plenty of photos from different angles and let me pick which angle I liked best and then he took more photos from my chosen angle. He was very informative and let me know exactly the process of how the photos would be taken and which angles etc. I got my photos within 15 mins after I left the studio. I was also running a little late because of directions but he was patient and I didn't feel like I was rushed during my time slot. I would definitely get more photos from Nick in the future read more

Nick was very easy to work with, photos arrived quickly, and look great! Very satisfied.

He did a great job, knows what he is doing. Recommend him! Good quality photos and very quick turn around.

Nick was awesome. He ensured that I parked my car in the right spot after he came down in no time to open the garage door. I was a bit nervous initially as it was my first time taking professional headshots for my eras application. He made sure that I looked sharp, fixed my tie, made sure that there were no glares at my glasses , and showed me how to pose. He's very friendly, and his headshots are very professional. I picked my favorite and asked him for retouching and resizing. 10/10. I highly recommend him to anyone. read more

During our session, he was able to clearly coach me through the entire photoshoot process and I was in and out of the studio within 45 minutes. This guy is awesome!!! I have never had a professional headshot taken but I am so pleased with the experience. First, with the the pandemic, you can tell he genuinely takes it's seriously and does the most to make sure it's a covid-free environment. I appreciate the time he takes to ensure safety for himself and his clients when in the studio. Secondly, he did an amazing job with making me feel comfortable and letting me decide what I like best but also giving me his professional opinion. He made it very easy to figure out the best pose and best angle. I personally don't find myself very photogenic but was incredibly impressed that he was able to take very lovely photos of me. I'm very excited to upload these to my LinkedIn. I will without out doubt be recommending this place to my friends and family read more

I scheduled a headshot session because I needed a new photo for work and LinkedIn. My appointment with Nick was awesome overall! First, prior to the scheduled shoot he texted to confirm I had the correct directions which I thought was helpful. Once there I had time to touch up and he explained how the session would run. If you don't know how to pose for photos don't worry because Nick will tell you exactly what to do and correct the tiniest details so that your photos turn out nice! I have so many great headshots to choose from which is amazing because not all photographers will give you every photo to keep and pick from. I received all of my headshots 10 minutes after I left! Definitely a plus. 5 stars to Nick, will definitely recommend to my colleagues and anyone who needs a new professional headshot. read more

Wow I just had a really great experience for my ERAS/fellowship headshot Photoshoot with Nick. This guy is incredible, and you can tell he's been doing it for a long time. Through his experience with residency photographs, he poses you and gives you the tips on how to look your best. He took me through a series of shots, first without my glasses, then showed me the frames. Once I found a position/smile I liked, we took a few more without my glasses. Then we put my glasses on and took a few more. At the end I ended up with 62 frames, most of which were great for ERAS. He offered retouching for $25, and resizing for AAMC platforms, which I didn't even end up needing because the photos were high quality to begin with. I'm extremely happy with my results and will recommend that anyone looking for this type of professional headshot seek out Studio Redleaf and Nick, be it for Med school, residency, fellowship, or even a professional shot for a website or LinkedIn. 13/10 very satisfied. read more

I went there for a professional head shot and had a groupon. It came out to be about 92 bucks without retouching for about a half hour session with one outfit. Here's my ratings breakdown. Overall process: ease of booking an appointment, reminders, response time: 5 stars Session: 4 stars. Nick was friendly and gave clear direction and great to work with. He did take a phone call during my session which was not very professional but I'll cut him some slack for this one as a small business who's trying to juggle multiple things. Location: 3 start: It's really easy to find. But my Lyft driver dropped me off at the 1st floor of the building which was very confusing. If you go there just make sure to use the 18th st. entrance. After photo shoot: 3 stars. I have mixed feelings about this. He sent the images right away which is great. But it was basically all the photos that he took. There were a few ones where I was blinking etc. As a professional I would expect that you'd remove those so it's easier for the client to sift through. Understand it's a little extra time but it should be part of his process to sift through it and remove the ones that cannot be used. Retouching: 2 stars. I picked an image for re-touching. I needed it pretty quickly and he was very accommodating and I got it back pretty quickly. However I noticed that there was one spot he missed close to my hair line and upon close inspection it looks like 2 skin tones now. If I did that on photo shop that's totally fine. But from a professional I was expecting something better. Yes, I could've reached out to him again and asked him to fix it. But I was already late with my images (this had nothing to do with him, I was out of town for 3 weeks and had schedule issues). This was not part of the package and 25 dollars extra. So to me it was not worth it. Also the groupon really was not a good deal. His normal charge is basically the same based on the conversation I overheard on the phone between him and another client. I'm not an expert in photographers as this is the first time I worked with one. My experience was pleasant overall. But I did find a better value on groupon later with 3 outfits and retouching included for a little less than Nick's price. For me it doesn't make that much of a difference since I only needed one look for a head shot, but if you're looking for more variety then it probably is worth it to do more research. Update 8/28/17: I received a long email from Nick because he didn't like it that I only gave him 3 stars. I wasn't going to get into that and was too busy to respond anyway. But to my surprise I just noticed in my credit card statement that there was a refund of $25 for the re-touching. That was unexpected since I didn't even request a refund. So that was very nice of him. Thank you Nick. read more

I was having my ERAS picture taken for medical residency. Nick was excellent! He was very thorough in the beginning and explained out each of the shots would work. He stopped multiple times throughout the shoot to let me look and decide what I liked and didn't like. I did not feel rushed for time at all and the pictures looked great! I highly recommend! He has the most affordable price! read more

My wife bought a package for me to have a few headshots taken. I normally wouldn't go for professionally done photos, but considering I couldn't post outdated unprofessional pics, I gave into my wife's suggestion to try this studio. I have to admit from the beginning Nick (owner/operator) was really personable and professional. I was impressed by the studio itself, because it did in fact look like a straight up professional, contemporary, studio and NOT some quasi-living room which was turned into a part-time business. Nick was hospitable and offered my wife and I complimentary water. It was San Pellegrino sparkling water, so you know he spent some decent coin to impress by not opting to buy that cheap Ice Mountain crap. : ) He's a got a great waiting area which is spacious, clean, and definitely not cluttered, so anyone just waiting around feels quite comfortable. The studio itself is an impressive setup of high end photography equipment. Although I am not a photographer by any means, I do have several friends who work for local marketing firms that own high end cameras and all the accessories that are used in the industry, so I have somewhat of an idea of what an amateur part-time photographer would be using as opposed to someone who does this as his main source of income. Nick definitely is using professional grade equipment and it's evident when you walk into the main studio. Nick demeanor is candid and he will explain every single aspect of what he is doing and more importantly WHY he's doing it. He is very fast and efficient, but you never feel rushed. You have the ability to interact with him and he's able to give detailed explanations as to why or why not a particular suggestion will work or not. Both my wife and I would recommend Red Leaf studios to anyone whether it be an amateur or professional event. read more

As a medical student -- applying for residency is hard enough. A big stressor for students is having a professional picture that is set with all of the upload requirements and one that captures their personality as a future doc. I think that this headshot absolutely did this for me . He was efficient and took my concerns about the pictures into play before the session started! Highly recommend for all ERAS candidates ! read more

Great experience. Nick made it easy, was easy to work with and the pictures came out great.

Nick is an extraordinary photographer who provides unparalleled customer service. As someone who has never had a professional photo shoot, I expected the experience to be slightly daunting. This was not the case. He made the experience comfortable, effortless, and even enjoyable. Scheduling is incredibly easy with his well built website. The location is in South Loop and has free parking. Instructions are well laid out via email and he he was easily available via phone for other questions. On arrival he had a dressing room area to freshen up. He began by getting a sense of what I wanted and then he provided an overview of the shoot format. He started by taking a series of photos in multiple different poses and angles. He then reviewed them with me, had me select my favorite ones, and he gave his professional opinion on which ones looked best. We then focused on the best specific poses and angles. He was very patient throughout, helping to guide me in order to get the best photo. After completing he made sure I was happy with the photos and provided an opportunity to take more -- which was not needed. By the time I got home photos were already in my inbox. I was able to select my favorites and he then did a magazine quality touch up on those. The whole process took less than 30 minutes, it was easy to schedule, was extremely affordable, enjoyable, and overall a great experience. Highly recommended. read more

I cannot recommend Studio RedLeaf enough! First and foremost, Nick was so careful with the pandemic. He really takes COVID-19 safety precautions seriously - he maintained 6 feet of distance, wore a mask the entire time, and sanitized his hands and my hands multiple times throughout the session. You can tell he really put a lot of thought into how to keep his clients and himself safe during this time. Second, he is an amazing photographer - truly talented. I needed professional photos for my firm website and walked out with 52 AMAZING photos after a 20-25 minute session. (It was so hard to pick just one photo I wanted for my firm website). Halfway through the session, Nick allowed me to see the photos and welcomed feedback and asked what I liked/didn't like before continuing the session. After leaving the session, I received my photos within 10 minutes. I am so impressed with the entire process from start to finish. If you need a headshot - this is the place to go! read more

What an incredible headshot experience with Nick & Studio Redleaf. I came in for a professional headshot session and Nick did a great job making me feel comfortable and walking me through each step of the shoot. He had great ideas on angles and expressions that by the end of the shoot I felt like a pro :) He emailed me a link to every single photo he shot that day that I had access to download and keep. I chose to have one image retouched for $25 and Nick was able to get me back my retouched photo within one business day. I enjoyed my experience so much that I brought my colleague to Nick for her headshots as well. These images really helped elevate us professionally and the process was quick and easy!
