Walking up, I thought the building looked like it could have been an old church, so I asked the gentleman behind the counter. "Yes - this used to be a church." Now it's a Church of Rock n' Roll. Space is at a bit of a premium, but the records are displayed well and you should be able to dig at your own speed, even if it's a little busy. Most of the records skew rock, classic rock, oldies, blues and country - which makes sense given the store's location. Limited cds are available, too, if you swing that way. I do and I walked with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers' Greatest Hits - a cd that my sister gave away to some random wannabe boyfriend years ago. I'm not bitter. (I'm so bitter.) Anyway - it felt good to roll the windows down and drive around listening to an old friend at an unhealthy volume. A note - watch your calendar. I have no turntable and no need for vinyl records, but I have friends that do and this place is a great place to shop for them for gift giving purposes. I spent 30 minutes or so browsing and could have spent hours. They have a medium sized collection of new and used albums and 45's that are mixed together. New albums go for anywhere from $25 to $50 depending on the album. It's clean, well organized, and the staff is friendly and cool. It's an eclectic mix of artists/bands and if you can't find what you're looking for they can probably order it for you. Deffo worth a look. read more

This amazing spot was recommended to me by a friend and it did not disappoint. I'm not into the rock scene so many of the record stores around can feel a bit intense. The vibes here are way different. Everything is organized, clean, and presented professionally. Service was amazing. Owner offered me a stool to help my searching. The selection of used records is incredible. Had a huge selection of the classical records I was looking for. Prices were more than fair. Newer stuff was in line with market prices and used was quality. I went home with two boxes of records and it was not expensive at all. Best record store around Tulsa in my opinion. read more

i've been visiting studio records before the relocation. it's good to know that not only that they moved into a bigger location, that also they didn't move that far at all (well within walking distance). new location, same spirit. i always like coming here to search for what's in-store, which is a good amount to choose from. the owner is usually there when i visit & is super nice & always willing to help out if i needed it. to those who aren't aware, the section of records that sit before the initial selections at waist level are cheaper & usually are the overstock that they try to move out of the door (ESPECIALLY when they were at the first location, they had so much). the sections + selections by genre are well organized. i leave with 1-3 records each time. sitting in the pearl district that's always trying to find its spotlight when it comes to attractions (businesses tended to move in & out of the location with all of the potential possible), studio records didn't seem to have a problem finding their core of record lovers. there are food spots right up the street to grab a bite before or after your visit. open 7 days a week. i will continue to be a regular here. read more

So glad to find this awesome record store. It has one of the best and deepest selection of vintage & new vinyl I've ever seen...with some really hard to find albums you hardly ever see out anymore. Mike, the owner, is a great guy & really knows his music! The store is laid out for an easy flow and the bins are clearly marked and easy to dig through. I found two albums I'd been looking for... clean copies of: Hourglass (Greg & Duane Allman's early band) and Jimmie Davis debut album along with several other great LPs! It's also just down from the historic The Church recording studio made famous by Leon Russell! It's definitely a must stop in Tulsa for vinyl lovers & music aficionados! read more

Came here from Topeka to check out various spots and decided to stop in. I really like the simplicity of this store. No frills, just vinyl. I liked the wide selection. Nothing more annoying than going to a record store and finding 9 copies of the same Krokus album. This place has a great inventory. Had great selection both new and used! Everything was easy to find and was sorted by genre and artist in alphabetical order. Got The Off-Season by J. Cole on blue vinyl for $15 used and it sounds PERFECT! It came in a clear plastic cover as all used records there had showing the care for the records being sold. 10/10 will definitely go back when I'm in Tulsa! read more

Alas, the internal struggle that comes when you find a place so truly spectacular such as this one. While I would love to keep this delightful treasure a secret, mumbling incoherently in the dark in a Gollum-esque fashion about my precious, logic (and my bank account) tell me that I need people other than me to shop here in order to keep it in business. As a vinyl soul in an MP3 world, I've come to fully expect the underwhelming experience that comes with the record hunting experience in modern times. I found a new record store, and expected the typical dusty, dirty haphazard bins, filled with overpriced classics in battered jackets. Instead, I found meticulously organized records, each carefully stored in plastic sleeves. I felt like I was flipping through the private collection of a fellow vinyl enthusiast. The owner pleasantly bantered with me about music history as my pile of purchases grew taller and taller. The prices were not only reasonable, I felt like I was taking advantage by purchasing them as priced. Each room brought a new pile of records to add to my personal collection. The first thing I was immediately amazed by was the amount of records in the store. I was then impressed with how many artists had every album on the shelf! That was cool! Tucked away on a side street is a small house like store with prominent signage informing potential customers that SR is OPEN! Walking in through the screen door you are welcomed by highly organized vinyl of all sorts - pop/rock in the center, which extend to the room on the left along with jazz, rap, and soul, and on the right with classical. Lots of options for new and pre-loved albums, with a nice selection of both vintage and newer artists. As many no doubt have noted before me, you can spend hours and hand over mucho dinero with the selections present. Last visit partook in 5 x 33 1/3 from Chicago to Mozart. The only limitation is your resource availability - and the prices are quite reasonable. Of course they have album cleaning supplies as well. True Nibbana for vinyl lovers. read more
