I love Josey Records. Every time I visit, no matter the day & time, I always leave with something. Outside of having an early collection, I've been adding more & more lately and Josey changed the game with the mystery packs they have. Genre or artist based, there's certain number of records that'll come in a pack that's usually for $10. During a recent visit, I got a Rod Stewart pack that was 7 records for $7. I also stack up on singles & I enjoy the selections Josey has of those. Another thing is that there's a section dedicated to local acts, that's major. I always like to see what's in-store with the local scene. Every time I'm there, the staff is always nice. They have a point system that comes with your purchases & can end up being discounts. Oh my goooooodness. I don't know where to begin. I had been vibin' hard along my Route 66 journey. This place is not a miss.. The staff will let you browse and touch things. So that's a good sign. The store staff are extremely helpful and friendly. I did ask permission if I could take pics, and they allowed me to. Which is pretty epic. I love record and music stores. Music is the library holder of energy of the soul. I felt it here. I didn't buy anything, since I had to get back home. Prices are reasonable. I will make another trip soon. My daughter's boyfriend bought a few things, and he enjoyed his purchase. My son and daughter went along on this trip. We all enjoyed the experience. DO NOT sell your old vinyl to this store. I brought in at least 250 records (some of them still sealed in their original plastic). The collection also included the Beatles blue box, and Elvis collections. Plus, there were twenty 45s, and fifteen 78s. They would only pay $100 for everything. That comes out to $.35 per item. You can do better at a yard sale. read more

Not so much. Sure, they have a lot of records but nothing is in any kind of order. I'm aware that part of the thrill of music collecting is the hunt but it's sad when Metallica is mixed in with Barbra Streisand. Like, WTF. LOL... I also think their prices are way too high. Yes, I'm aware that inflation is a b*tch but dang... you're really asking $18 for a beat up vinyl of the soundtrack for the movie Charade? Not only does the cover have dog ears but there was a good scratch on the record. I feel like many record stores just stock up on stuff for the sake of inventory without really looking at what they are bringing in. Not to mention, Charade isn't even a great film though Criterion would disagree. That record in that condition is in the $7 range. I will say I was impressed that they have a Ritchie Valens LP from a live recording at Pacoima High School which is super rare even if it's a Rhino re-release from 1987. read more

I found some Cradle of Filth, Wolves in the Throne Room, and Emperor to name a few. You can find some steals there as well, cause they're always running sales and markdowns. Was in Tulsa for work and found this little gem. Had to be careful because within 20 minutes, i had my hands full of records. I escaped out of there with a VHS skate video and memories of a cool vibe on a Thursday afternoon. They had a good collection of cassettes to dig through. VHS game pretty strong. First thing you notice is that this place smells fantastic. The shelves are all made from wood and I just loved the smell. Great selection of LPs also. Found a couple used that I had been looking for and didn't pay a ton for them. They have a great selection of new and used cds, and lps and the prices seem fair. read more

This record store is downright delightful! They have a nice jazz section, as well as a bunch of discount records in the back. I could spend hours in here. The store is clean, brightly-lit and well-organized, which makes browsing through the vinyl so easy. The staff is friendly and helpful, and plays good music. Also they have hand sanitizer at the front and require masks in-store, so they are definitely following COVID protocol. read more

I love to support small business when I can and this record store makes that easy to do. My father in law always takes us to a new vinyl shop when we visit and this was our stop this Christmas. They have super fair prices (no crazy mark up) and a large selection to look through. It was easy enough to find street parking when the parking lot was full. They've got a ton of vinyl as well as cds and cassettes. Not a pushy or "too cool" atmosphere. We'll be back next time we're in Tulsa for sure. read more

They've got a good stock of used vinyls and CDs at responsible prices. I've picked up some decent titles in their bargain bin and most of the well known albums are priced without markups. The only small strike is they don't necessarily have a ton of treasures lying around. They've got a wall of rarities but most of the stacks are run of the mill things. Mostly I visit to round out an artist's catalog or check on their new arrivals every now and then. They're an excellent place if you're curious about the hobby but you'll need others to find some of the more obscure things. read more

Me and my boyfriend go to this record store all the time. It has always been an absolutely amazing experience with the employees, etc. Until today.. Today there was an employee I was unfamiliar with ( mid 30s white male, reddish blonde hair) that didn't seem too friendly from the beginning but, didn't think anything of it. Me (18 white female), my boyfriend (17 Hispanic male), and my niece (11 African American female), were looking through records per usual. When my niece had dropped a discounted record that was $1 due to 3 of the sides being torn open (before she even touched it). Nonetheless, we were going to buy it anyway because the disk fell on the floor. The employee that I was unfamiliar with proceeded to come over & ask for our bag (that we had just received from a store a few doors down, after buying something). I said "sir this is my bag" he proceeded to say "I know, can I see it." I then said "sure, go for it." He looks through it, finding nothing. Then I asked him why he felt the need to do that, he had no response (while his face turns red). I asked him why he didn't check the people's bag's behind us (mid 40s white female, and 17-18 white male). No response. I said sir, do you understand what this looks like, no response. White male behind us proceeds to get involved, and start cussing at us along with the employee. While the women next to him continues to tell him to stop (because she even knew it was wrong), I was very frustrated at this point due to the racial profiling from the employee, and was continually trying to make him understand how belittling & how wrong it was. He asked us to leave, so we left. My dad then came in, and told him he had no right to look through our bag, and he was cussing & yelling at my father, unwillingly taking responsibility for what he did. Moral of the story, the store is great, the staff are amazing. Other than the one we had the unfortunate experience with today (white male with reddish blonde hair, mid 30s). Whom was also staring at us the whole time, and whom had an attitude with my niece when she asked for the bathroom key. But I will no longer be returning due to the racism of that one employee. Do better, I hope that man (boy) gets fired. read more
