A picture is worth a thousand words. Jack is great- he is warm, personable and puts great attention to detail. He will take good care of you. He is an artist and he is committed to creating the look you are going for. He is not just good at shaping your hair and cutting, he is also great at styling and can share tips and advice with you. I went in shaggy & came out looking sharper than a mosquito's dick. Jack is a popular guy. I got lucky with a walk-in at the start of his day, but he's in demand & the phone rings off the hook. Call ahead and make an appointment, he's worth it. I was impressed with Jack's attention to detail. In a world of too many places that can't get you out of the chair fast enough, a meticulous barber is a real find. Jack takes the time to make sure you get what you want, and tailors the cut to fit the shape of your head & sense of style. No cookie cutter buzz cuts here. Jack's skill is a throwback to an earlier age. You're guaranteed to leave here feeling like a man. If you've got a job interview, or you're asking your boss for a raise, or if you're hunting big game or writing the great American novel, a haircut from Jack will give you that boost of self-confidence to put you over the top and get the job done. In my case, I went straight home and sired twins. I'm gonna name one of them after Jack.

This is a very new business that opened August 15, 2013. Mr. Jack Perez owns the shop and is a gifted barber. I walked in with my Beloved and he received a haircut. I enjoyed Mr. Perez's demeanor, professionalism, and being so personable. Hot towels and a straight razor were used during the cut. With the amount of focus to detail and effort, I was expecting a charge of $60, it was $18! AWESOME! Classic rock was in the background for our listening enjoyment. Cash only for now, as it is a new business.

You definitely get your money's worth here. Before, I would go to cheap salons, always disappointed. I even attempted Great Clips. It wasn't until I went to Studio One I found my Barber Shop. Jack is a very professional barber who takes time to get to know you and your hair. I told him what style I wanted, and since my hair isn't long enough yet, he gave me a plan to accomplish that look. Every visit, I leave with a very clean and very professional haircut and that much closer to my ideal look. Jack also gave me tips on how to make a very successful and delicious Thanksgiving Turkey. Jack will definitely take care of your hair!!! read more

To be fair, I've buzzed my own head most of my life. Over the past couple years I grew it out, but finally had to cut it. I came here because of the number of reviews and the photos. It took an hour or so to cut all my hair, but it wasn't rushed. We talked, but he wasnt oppressive, which i appreciate because im not a very talkative person. As for the hair, I am happy with the result, and I will be returning for my trims. Two things that I think are important, 1) He said I could give it a couple days, and if I didn't like it, to come back and get a complimentary correction. 2) There are no bike racks outside the shop, so he let me bring my bicycle in due to there being an obnoxiously large amount of bicycle theft in Hayward. So, in conclusion, a good haircut, a nice guy, and a desire to make the customer happy, got this shop 5 stars. read more

I have been coming here now for a few months. Had been to numerous places in Hayward but none really let me leave their shop or salon as happy as I do when I leave Jack's business. Everyone else seems to cut hair in a rush, not listen to what you want, and/or just simply not care. Then, there is Jack. A very personable and professional man. I go in for very simple cuts. But, this man is skilled and since it's only him holding it down, he makes sure you leave happy. read more

This is the best barber shop in the Bay Area! I went to college in Idaho and had the same barber for 6 years and when I moved back to the Bay I searched for months for a solid barber. Now I wouldn't go anywhere else. He even hooks it up on barbers weekends...Studio One is closed today but he hooked us up for my homies wedding!!! read more

I didn't know Jack before he cut my hair. Very friendly, very personable, very professional. He is the person I wouldn't mind getting some beers with. He provides razor shaves, razor fades, hot towels, and all types of hair cuts. You can't find barbershops like his anymore. They simply rare to come by. I am very particular with my hair cut because I had terrible experiences in the past with the walk-in haircut places. His services makes you think that you're going to have to pay a pretty penny, but in fact they are pretty affordable. Do not go anywhere else, Jack will take care of you. I can't find a reason to take away a star. All positive. read more

Jack is a wholesome legitimate business owner. I arrived as a walk-in, desperate to get a haircut and he met my needs. Not being from the Bay Area; I had no idea what I was walking into besides finding him on Yelp. Jack is by far one of the best barbers I've ran in to in a long time. Trust me, I've been around being a service member and have had many skilled hands cut my hair. He took his time and asked what were my needs. If you love your hair do not go to this place. I let my bangs grow out for three months. I went there and told them to only cut the side do not touch the front And now I have half cut in front and half long. When I said not to touch the front! I had the pleasure of meeting Jack at a dinner a few weeks ago and heard about his new business. After showing up for an overdue haircut, I found Jack to be very personable and professional. He has a very warm personality and did an excellent job with the cut, cleaning everything up with a straight razor and a warm towel at the end. Jack is my new barber and I won't be going anywhere. He is my first recommendation for any friend or family. Excellent barbershop! Jack Perez is quite the professional, both in his demeanor and ability to work with hair. While he is professional, Jack is also laid back and gives the shop a relaxed atmosphere. The shop itself is clean seeing that it's only Jack in there (I suggest you call to make sure he has openings). I wasn't sure how I wanted to cut my hair, all I knew was I had a lot of it and I wanted most of it gone. I told Jack how I wanted the sides and I saw his imagination run wild. He told me his vision and I told him to go with it. It's a little high maintenance for a guy like myself but , damn, it looks good. Jack was very meticulous in his cutting, making sure he got all the details right. Overall, wonderful cut, excellent ambiance, amazing professionalism and a guy you want to give your business to in Jack. Defintely going to be back again. read more

Jack is awesome. Plain and simple. When I first moved to Hayward I found his place through a friend of mine because I noticed his haircuts were so slick. So I thought that I would give it a shot. I couldn't have been any happier with my decision. Jack was very patient with me, even when I didn't really know what I wanted. He would recommend cool hairstyles for me to try, and then would make sure that I was comfortable with what I got. He really took his time throughout the entire process and made sure I got exactly what I asked for. He works by appointment only so he never rushes through the haircut. I've gone to him for haircuts for about a year now and I've got to say that he's the only barber I will ever go to when I'm in the area. He's also extremely personable and you cam talk to him about anything. Just make sure that you DON'T GO WHEN YOU'RE SICK!!! He's a one man operation so he has to stay healthy and happy in order to run his business. If he's out of commission for one day, then that is one day that no one will get a haircut. Don't take it personally if he decides not to cut your hair because you're sick. He has to be able to make money and buy food to eat, just like everybody else. read more

Wow. I made an appointment for my husband today. It was his first time there with Jack. My husband has been going with the same barber for years and didn't really know to tell Jack what he usually gets done. However, just by looking at his current cut Jack knew want he needed. Let me tell you...hubby look so handsome!!! Once we got out hubby expressed how he really like the haircut and how he liked how Jack was so informative while cutting his hair. 5+* for Jack. He is great! Now hubby needs to remember exactly what this cut is called. read more

Jack is a really nice guy but lacks the ability to do what the CUSTOMER wants. I asked him to cut a very tiny bit of the top of my hair and he cut way more then I could've imagined. I'm extremely disappointed with his lack of understanding and on top of that he charged me $35 for a simple fade which wasn't blended right. Please save your time and money and go somewhere else read more

Review is long overdue but now taking the time to do it. Heard about this place through my coworker and I've been going ever since. I've tried many barbershops in the area since I've been here my whole life and this one is by far the best. I've been going to this barbershop for about 6 months now and I've been satisfied with every haircut I get. Jack is a superb barber. He doesn't just give you a haircut but cuts it according on how your individual hair grows. There are people who cut hair ... And then there are barbers. Jack is a barber. I went into the shop today for the first time, and got a shave and a haircut. The process took about an hour ... That alone should tell you about the service. This was not one of those shops where you go in, get processed quickly, and get sent out the door. Jack took his time to do everything right. Hot towel prior to the shave. An expert shave with perfect sculpting of my goatee. Massage. Cold towel after the shave. Choice of powder or aftershave. Then came the haircut. Everything was well detailed. Questions were asked about length preferences around every part of the head. Did I want it blended? Taper or boxed nape? Details ... And everything was finished by edging out with a straight razor. And the price? MORE than reasonable! I will definitely be back ... And I'll be telling my friends. read more

I went in for a cut yesterday after having long hair, mostly back in a ponytail, for over 10 years. Having seen The Great Gatsby, I sort of knew what I wanted but also wanted to keep some of the length on top. I needed a professional opinion. I'm so glad to have found Jack. Been getting my haircut by Jack for almost 4 years. Well today he told me that I'm no longer a customer because in my 4 years I've showed up late to my appointments 4 or 5 times according to him. To be fair, I did show up 5 to 10mins late. However, there have been plenty of times I show up for my appointments on time and i had to wait 10 to 20mins to be seated and not once did I complain. So for him to cut me just like that is completely wrong. When Jack is in a bad mood he shows it and is very short with his customers. Like he was with me today. I don't want to give him a bad review but he also can't take out his personal aggressions on his customers. Especially a customer who gave him friendly advice when he needed it. You F'd up Jack and not cool. read more

I have searched for a long time for a classic barber. Most places cater to hipsters and don't seem real. Jack is a real classic barber. My son and I go for a classic cut. So you're a guy looking for a barber in Hayward and you don't care about nails and foot spas. This is the place to go. Just tell him your specifications and they'll be met, be it classic or modern. Jack's a great guy and knows his clients. Pay in cash or credit, at the least 18 bucks plus tip. Walk-ins are fine but it's best to give the guy a call to set an appointment. read more

Unprofessional and unreliable…read more Schedules only through text and doesn't always leave sufficient time for haircuts, which leads to him blaming customers for delays. I was 5 minutes late for ONE haircut (where I let him know in advance we were running late), and after that he started ghosting me whenever I tried to schedule. After a couple weeks of ignoring me completely with no explanation, I visited the shop in person to see what's up, and the dude starts yelling at me for disrespecting him. Literally yelling while he's got a kid in the chair. All the reviews here mention it's an "old school" barber shop. If that's what you want when you say "old school", then this is your spot. where do I start?...I'm not the kind of guy who typically does this typing stuff but I feel this is the only way I can pull a "Frozen" and "Let It Go"! ( shout out to my lovely nieces) So I was looking for a barber that still uses a straight razor and found a few but decided on Studio One due its location and reviews. I call on a Thursday and Jack answered, I let him know it will be my first time coming in and ask when the earliest appointment for the following day was (Friday); he asked if 10:30 was good I agreed. Friday morning rolls around and I was excited to get this amazing experience I have read about over and over! I get to the shop around 10:25 and find it to be closed still. I called Jack, he answered the phone in an almost confused manner, I told him that I was his 10:30 appointment and that I was outside his closed shop. He apologizes and said he couldn't make our appointment, (the one HE set up himself). A little frustrated I kept my head and I told him it was fine and asked him when he will be available, he tells me that I have free reign over two time slots which were: 2:30-5:30 or 6:30 to closing. I chose the 6:30 appointment. I get to the shop around 6:20-6:25 to find he has a client in his chair. I waited patiently. He finishes the client's cut and proceeds to call out to someone. A lady came out from the back with a camera and he asked her (in a semi rude and annoyed manner) to take photos of this client's cut at about five different angles! Finally around 6:45-6:50 he calls me up to the chair. I hopped in the seat and I ask him for a shave and a cut (this is where it starts to get frustrating) he then, in a semi ramble, begins to tell me that I should have told him I wanted a shave when I first called, like it was my fault (even though he never mentioned it when I first called Thursday and told him that it was my first time), and that he doesn't have time to do both the shave and cut, that the shave will take too long, he can do one or the other but not both and that he has another appointment after me so what did I want to do (even though he had time to take pictures of that client's hair, a comb over that I'm sure he already has plenty of pictures of) . I told him it was fine, I got out of the chair and proceeded to walk over to the coat hanger to gather my things, he then gave me his card; like I was going to return after being treated like some punk. I was so upset and frustrated that I forgot my beanie that I use to cover this mess on my head! I'm sure some apologies were thrown my way but out of being upset and frustrated I never heard them. This is truly the worst experience I have ever had at a barber! I really feel as a new client I didn't matter at all! Sorry Jack, but I won't be comin' back! read more

Honestly the best barbershop in SF bay area . I tried at least 4 or 5 other barbershops and none of them ever gave me what I want. So far he gave me the best haircut I ever had since I moved to the US. At Jack's studio ( studio one ), You will never feel the barber is doing another head and waiting to do the next one. Jack is never in a hurry, you take an appointment you come at time. He won't go for the scissors at first he will listen to you, suggests and then he would start. His expertise is probably more than 20 years. He will give you whatever you want he is good with scissors and the machine. This is so far what I saw. I believe the way he treats his clients is the reason behind his success. He doesn't care about the money as much as he cares about his client satisfaction and comfortability. Respect for that. -personal opinion. I never wrote a review in my whole life to anything. But Jack honestly deserve it and deserve my time. Other good points about this barbershop: 1. Easy parking 2. Clean place 3. No waiting just take an appointment beforehand Don't hesitate and go there. read more

Jack is a great guy and an even better barber. I walked into his shop with a friend of mine to get haircuts. He is a savior! My friend and I both had our hair cut by friends to save money and it didn't turn out well for either of us, I had a short uneven clipper cut all over the sides and back of my head, while my friend was the victim of a razor cut that had a bald spot. Although we entered Studio One Barber Shop looking like we got our hair cut with a weed-wacker, we left looking clean and stylish. This was the most pleasant experience at a barber shop that I have had in the longest time, and I will absolutely be a returning customer. Jack made sure that he understood what I wanted and explained what he was doing every step of the way. He also took his time with both of us, making sure we had the best looking results possible He offers a variety of services and all for a great price, a standard haircut is only $18! Jack really knows what he is doing with hair. The cuts are always great! Besides his skills as a barber, he is a good guy too. I was getting my cut and we were just conversating. I was telling him how my allergies have been killing me lately. We talked about some natural ways to help allergies and he mentioned bee pollen. I told him I've heard of It and actually attempted to go get some earlier in the week. He was mentioning he has used it, but just wasn't consistant enough with it. He happen to have some with him and just gave me the bottle. I really appriciated him going out of his way and helping me in ways far beyond what's requiered. So my usual barber flaked on me the day before new years eve so I panicked because like everyone else I wanted to look good for the new years party I will be attending. I jumped on yelp to find a barber and found Jack so I told my friend lets give it a try. First good thing he was very close to home for me. I walk in and was greeted immediatly. My friend gets cut first and watched as we all had a great conversation. Now Jack was a cool guy very attentive as I noticed he was taking his time with my friends hair. Once my friend was done I was impressed very clean cut and nice lines. I showed Jack a pic of what I wanted and 30 mins later perfection. He did a great job on my hair!! Great experience at Studio One Barber Shop. My stepson suggested that I treat myself to a professional shave at a real barber shop from a real barber. Jack is that guy. He gave me a great straight razor shave and is very friendly. He made me feel right at home. I felt like i was talking to an old high school buddy. Funny story: I have very long hair in a braid. I was thinking about changing things up and getting a crew cut or some other very short cut. Jack looked at me and said," Bro ,don't cut your hair. You don't want to do that. Better check with the wife first". Made me laugh but I appreciated his honesty.( So did my wife :) ) He's a very cool cat. I highly recommend Studio One and will definitely be back. This barber is the one! I dropped in to get a fade and a tight line and Jack hooked it up. He was very attention to detail and made sure he was clear on what I wanted, not what a barber wants to just give you. Very polite, personable and knowledgable about his walk in life. Being a female with short hair it's hard to get someone with this type of skill to give you a real cut. Will be returning and referring anyone who asks about my hair. Jack will do well for himself. He cuts like the old school barbers and takes out the time to give hot towels and straight razor shaves, instead of just using liners, which can't compare to that finished look. read more

Jack was very friendly and easy to talk to. He is very knowledgeable. I asked for a medium fade and it turned out better than I expected. He is the only barber I have been to that cut my hair exactly how I wanted it the first time without me having to go back and show him anything. He cut it so well I couldn't even find anything wrong that most barbers would leave unfinished. Definitely worth every dollar. I would recommend him to anyone. read more

There are two types of people when it comes to work. Those who have a strong passion for their work versus those dont. He is the former and plus he has the skills. Every industry is a battlefield, I don't know about other areas but he is the Napoleon in this area. I am lazy on yelp. I've been going to Jack for almost a year now. He always does an excellent job, and has helped turn my beard into something presentable, instead of the shag rug I walked in with. He works by appointment only, but is well worth the wait. I always make sure to set up my next one before I leave, to get prime time. Jack is awesome! Been living in the Bay Area on and off these past few years. I know if i need a cut to always come through and see Jack. He runs a one man shop, so you have to make an appointment. But being that its just him, you also get a more personal experience. And all his focus and attention is on you. You can go somewhere they try to rush you out as soon as they have you in the chair, or you can go to Jack and know he is going to take his time to get the job done right. I came to Jack earlier this year to ask about getting a razor sharpened, and he got a new regular customer, he's still asking when i'm going to let him shave me, though. read more

Jack is extremely talented, genuine, and a great guy. I got a haircut (to fix a bad one from last week) and a beard trim. He was like a surgeon making sure everything looked just right.
