I decided to try a new shop a couple of days ago, and as any man would confirm, this is always a nerve-racking feeling. Moving from one barber to another takes time, trust, and risk. I booked an appointment with Marlon at MGX Barbers, and the experience was seamless. The shop is in a prime location with plenty of parking and is easy to find. There are several other businesses nearby (CVS, Safeway, etc.), which is extremely convenient if you need to run errands before or after your appointment. Now, for the good stuff: my experience with Marlon. He was ready well ahead of our scheduled time. He took the time to understand exactly what I was looking for, asked clarifying questions, and kept checking in throughout the process. This immediately gave me confidence that my satisfaction was his primary goal. I also appreciated that he asked for honest feedback; he made it clear that his goal was to deliver a result I was truly happy with. The environment was clean and professional. I usually visit shops solo first to see if it's a good environment for my kids, and this place definitely felt family-friendly. Prices are competitive for the Bay Area, and given the quality of service, the cost is well-warranted. I can definitely see myself coming back here for many more haircuts. read more

A little context. I needed my beard shaved really bad, I let it go a few days to long, my electric razor couldn't handle it, without a lot of screaming and swearing. Rather then put myself through the misery I thought I'd give a professional the chance to make it right. Jorge and Marlon are the best - my son's hair looks amazing every time we come in. Our first appointment was with Marlon a while back for picture day for my son, and even though my son was nervous about having his hair cut and reluctant to get rid of any length, Marlon listened to what we both wanted and came up with something great. The next time we came in, Marlon wasn't available so we booked an appointment with Jorge a few days before my wedding. My son had a picture of the look he was going for, and he said he's never had a haircut turn out just like the picture before. Brought my son here a couple days before my wedding looking to get a haircut since he's the ring bearer AND also walking me down the aisle. I showed the barber a photo of how I wanted my son's haircut to look while maintaining the length. I even told him about my wedding and how I wanted him to look as handsome as can be. He sounded like he knew what to do. Giving him the trust, I paid no attention and merrily got on my phone. After all is said and done, I was super disappointed in the result. At $50 for a kid's haircut, you would think it would come out nice. Nope! His hair had been butchered! There's no redeeming it by going to another barber since the length had been cut too short. We've never had to wait very long and been really pleased with each style that the boys walk out with.
