I am from out of town, and made an appt here. The salon is beautiful but, I was disappointed with the service. I was a bit early for my appt but, my stylist didn't arrive until shortly after the appointment time. She was wearing sweats, and it really didn't look like she'd even combed her hair. She was, in my opinion, very new at this. I explained what I wanted, and even showed her a photo of myself when I had my haircut that way. I don't think she heard a word I said, or even looked at the photo. I told her that I didn't want a bob, angled toward my chin. I walked out with a bob, angled toward my chin. I had to ask her to cut more after her first cut. The photo I showed her was a shorter style with waves. The style I left with was ironed straight. Even my adult son asked me what happened to my hair. Maybe I am of a different generation now but, when working in a salon, I would expect a professional dress and hair done. I probably should have gone back but, I just needed to get it fixed, and I really didn't think, going back to the same stylist was going to help. read more

First timer at Studio MK in Elkins, West Virginia, and I absolutely love it. The interior of this beauty salon is so soothing and classy. Original wood floors have been lovingly refinished to create a warm and sleek atmosphere. And don't forget to look up-- the original pressed tin ceiling provides antique elegance in a space that has been so handsomely rehabbed into a perfect commercial space. In short, it is a pleasure just to walk into the space of Studio MK. The lovely floor length mirrors seem to rest gently against the beautiful plaster and brick walls. High ceilings give this hair salon class and elegance. Pleasant music played while I had the pleasure of a shampoo, haircut, and blow dry by Carleigh. She listened to what I wanted and then worked with me to create long layers that help to shape my face. I can find absolutely nothing to critique about this place. I didn't have to wait. It was $30 for a shampoo, haircut, blow dry, and I enjoyed every minute that I was there. I am considering to go back to become a redhead...we shall see.
