A hidden jem in the plaza! Got highlights put in and I love them! This is a great professional salon. I won't go anywhere else to get my hair done. The staff are wonderful, the service excellent and the work is top notch. Angel did a one of a kind Italian highlight job to my hair I had never seen before and it turned out better then regular highlights done at other salons. It's priced well to. My story starts out by telling you that I recently moved to Elizabethtown from being a DC native for about 6-7 years. In February I had a highlight appointment in Louisville at the Paul Mitchell salon "Focus." Yes, they did a good job, but the prices were very high and almost an hour drive away. So when it came time for highlights again, I was lucky enough to get an appointment with the Alpha Salon. I did get lost on the way to the place since they sit off the road behind the Planet Fitness, but was seen right away by Kasey. I will sum up my experience from here to say Kasey did a PHENOMENAL job with a very picky persons hair; she took great care to do her very best job, and it showed. She gave me an amazing scalp massage during the wash and...most importantly....I love the job she did. This salon's prices are honest and straightforward (unlike in Washington where you actually have to pay extra to have your hair washed and dried.) I have already rescheduled an appointment with Kasey which I notoriously do not do. This chick is fantastic...I highly recommend to all my blonde friends out there! read more

II received a gift card for a facial and a massage. The massage was wonderful. I felt it was very thorough and that she was well skilled. She spoke to me but not too much and made me feel very comfortable. The facial on the other hand was less than thrilling. I like to be told what is happening and why it is happening. IE: this is a healing cream and I am going to apply a cloth to your face now. While I enjoyed the peace and quiet I would have preferred some small guidance about what was happening. I also specifically requested blackhead removal but was told that was a process that required several treatments. I understand that but I know that removal of a few can be done at each visit. When I left I felt like I had been cleaned, creamed, and moisturized but I didn't feel like I had gotten the deep clean I would have liked. It felt very superficial. All in all I would suggest the massage again and would try a facial again but I would hope I could get a more thorough experience. read more

If there was a negative star I would give them a negative star. I had my haircut by Christina Cook and wow that was a mistake! My hair is normally a medium brown which now is jet black on the bottom with white highlights on the top. She even wore shirt that said something about she could do better than your last hairdresser. Don't get me wrong I'm usually not a hair hopper but I was really looking for someplace close to home that could do my hair. Since I've been around the block when it comes to your hair, and I know what to ask for and what I like I should know better. I'm very laid-back and really if you do great job I'm an going to say you did a great job. She even tried to talk me into it Keratin treatment for my next haircut. I am sure there are other stylists there that do a great job. However I will never be back , I originally spent around $100 to get my hair colored and cut which was good price at the time, but not after I looked in the mirror. I had to spend an additional $200 to get my hair fixed at a salon in Louisville Kentucky. So all I can say is if you're looking for quick-fix, buyer beware. Take the time, make an appointment at another salon, and go there and get your hair done correctly the first time. Good luck to all you hair hoppers out there, I have learned my lesson! read more

Sorry for the extremely long post...I don't usually do many reviews on here but I have to share my awesome experience with this salon. We just moved here a few months ago and I had been to another local salon that I was not impressed with so after looking at all the reviews about Alpha I decided to try it. I was very warmly greeted at soon as I walked in the door which made me feel comfortable right away. I was offered my choice of coffee, hot tea, water, and soda. My stylist, Jenn took a lot of time to listen to what I was looking for which was a very natural looking warm, subtle highlight. She got right to it and moved through the application quickly. When it came to shampoo we back into another room with a bit dimmer lighting and soft music which was relaxing. I have to add that Jenn gave the best shampoo that I have had. Very gentle head massage which was amazing. Went back to the chair to start my blow out and she noticed that the highlights were brighter and brassier that she was expecting so right away she stopped and asked me if that was the look I was going for. We both decided that wasn't the look for me. I greatly appreciated her not letting walk out of the salon like that. Some would say "oh it looks great" and just move on to the next client knowing that really it didn't look good at all. She really took a lot of time to make sure I was happy with my hair. I've had my hair done by Jennifer at Alpha in the past month, and can honestly she will stay my stylist! She knows exactly what she's doing and understands your needs to look your best. Also, I had a pedicure by Gibby, and loved every minute! My toes looked beach perfect for my trip to FL. She was great to chat with, and was fun and professional. Last Thursday, I had a significant amount of hair cut off into a bob. I've been feeling self-concious about looking old (my oldest has medical problems that require demanding care), and I was worried the cut would age me even more. Yet I just didn't have time to care for my three, young kids and deal with long hair anymore. Fast forward a few days... Sunday I got carded, and today my middle child's bus assistant told me I look like a teenager. It's music to this thirtysomething's ears. Angel is the best. I ventured back to this SPA to give them one more try. When I went the last time, they had just come under new management. This was my third visit. The staff was nice this time, like usual. I just wasn't happy with the condition of the robes and towels (looked dingy and very worn). Honestly, I know I could've found a robe in better condition at a thrift store. Honestly. The massage was nice. The pressure wasn't exactly what I would've preferred, but that was my fault for not speaking up. I was concerned with the facial. Every time that I've been there, the Esthetician, doesn't take the time to really evaluate my skin or use the magnifying lamp to look at my skin. The lamp was in the room, I've seen it every time. I won't be going back here. The staff is nice, but for the price I want to feel like I'm getting my money's worth and not having to worry about whether something is really clean, or if the full service is going to be provided. read more

I have read a lot of great reviews here, especially about Angel. I called to make an appointment for color and highlights and requested Angel specifically. I arrived on time, but was seen late. No problem, I thought; it happens. Angel met me and applied my color. However, when it came time to wash out my hair, she passed me on to another person. I did not understand why and asked the woman washing my hair why this happened. She answered that she was in training. Angel then came to me to explain the same thing. I replied that I had not expected to have more than one person doing my hair as I was in the processing of finding a stylist. Despite my comment, and even though there were no other customers in the salon and Angel carried on conversations with the other idle stylists, she let the "trainee" continue with my hair. It got worse. When the trainee was applying conditioner to my hair, I realized that she never washed the color out from underneath my hair when I felt the color running down my neck. The trainee corrected the situation, but then Angel told me the trainee would also style my hair. At that point, I said no thank you and I would do my own hair. (I walked out with wet hair.) As the owner, Angel should have seen how unhappy I was with my service, especially given my expectations (I have never been to salon where I was passed off to a trainee without asking permission first), but she did not apologize or discount my services. I will not be going back here, and I would advise anyone that if he or she expects to have Angel do all of your hair, from color to cut to style, that this is not how she operates, as she told me that she never does all of these services, because of how busy she is. read more
