I had the best experience with Carmel-Ann today from beginning to end. I came in for my first haircut in a long time. What I thought would be a quick 25 minute snip ended up being 1.5 hours. She really took her time with me and I felt like she cared about my experience. I felt understood and never felt rushed. She made sure multiple times that I was pleased with the length, even offering for me to come back within the week for her to make it shorter if I wanted. I never liked layers but Carmel-Ann did a great job. Her studio is spacious and comfortable. It was quiet and relaxing. I appreciated the effort she put into my appointment. I found Carmel Ann through Groupon. Sometimes when you buy Groupons, the salons don't treat you well since you come in via a discount, but not Carmel Ann. She was appreciative of the new business, thoughtful, friendly, and attentive. It's always hard finding a new stylist, and especially for me since I have long curly hair that is sometimes complicated to cut. This was my first time going to a salon to get my haircut where I didn't go wash my hair right after - usually my curly hair gets styled and I look like a poodle, but Carmel Ann knew when to stop blow drying and how to get my natural curls to relax. Carmel Ann made me feel comfortable and relaxed, with great conversation and a very clean work area. She works a chair in the M&Co Salon which is right off of El Camino. The studio has other stylists but I've kept coming back to Carmel Ann specifically. read more

Carmel's hair services is located in M & Co Salon. Beautifully decorated with reclaimed, sustainable farm wood floors that gives you a comfortable feel as you walked into the salon. Meeting Carmel for full service (haircut, conditioner, blowdry) was a good choice. We discussed what haircut look I was trying to achieve when one has thick, healthy hair. In the end, my hair look great. It's was shiny, balanced, and flowing. The thermal conditioner smell wonderful, helped lay down any runaway hair. read more

I've been going to Carmel Ann for the last 2.5 years that I've lived in the Bay Area and she's the best! I have thick, curly, and long red hair that is colored. It's really difficult to find someone that can work with my hair and get the color just right, and she does such a fantastic job! Also, she has so much patience. She's always smiling and taking her time, and you can really tell she loves her job! It takes about an extra 30-40 minutes to straighten my hair, and sometimes I give her the option to just style it curly if she's in a hurry, and she always takes the extra time to straighten it for me! You know when you get that pre hair appointment anxiety when you try a new stylist? As soon as I met Carmel Ann that feeling completely dissipated! She really takes her time to fully understand the look you are trying to achieve, and provides excellent recommendations. I went in with a harsh ombré balayage, that was on the verge of brassiness. I left with a beautiful sombre as a result of root touch up, toning (with all Guy Tang products), conditioning treatment to preserve the integrity of the hair, and a fresh cut! I have been seeing Carmel Ann for the last year and a half and am always happy with the results after a cut and highlights. She's great at making blonde look natural (people ask me if it's my natural color!) and making my thin hair look fuller with layers. Carmel Ann is also very personable and flexible.
