I had the best experience with Carmel-Ann today from beginning to end. I came in for my first haircut in a long time. What I thought would be a quick 25 minute snip ended up being 1.5 hours. She really took her time with me and I felt like she cared about my experience. I felt understood and never felt rushed. She made sure multiple times that I was pleased with the length, even offering for me to come back within the week for her to make it shorter if I wanted. I never liked layers but Carmel-Ann did a great job. Her studio is spacious and comfortable. It was quiet and relaxing. I appreciated the effort she put into my appointment. It was a great experience and I highly recommend her. I left feeling really happy with my haircut read more

Carmel-Ann was wonderful to work with. As a stylist, she really took time to listen to what I was looking for from the email questions before my appointment to the time she spent once I was there. She did a fabulous job with the highlights. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her! read more

I found Carmel Ann through Groupon. Sometimes when you buy Groupons, the salons don't treat you well since you come in via a discount, but not Carmel Ann. She was appreciative of the new business, thoughtful, friendly, and attentive. It's always hard finding a new stylist, and especially for me since I have long curly hair that is sometimes complicated to cut. This was my first time going to a salon to get my haircut where I didn't go wash my hair right after - usually my curly hair gets styled and I look like a poodle, but Carmel Ann knew when to stop blow drying and how to get my natural curls to relax. Carmel Ann made me feel comfortable and relaxed, with great conversation and a very clean work area. She works a chair in the M&Co Salon which is right off of El Camino. The studio has other stylists but I've kept coming back to Carmel Ann specifically. read more

Carmel's hair services is located in M & Co Salon. Beautifully decorated with reclaimed, sustainable farm wood floors that gives you a comfortable feel as you walked into the salon. Meeting Carmel for full service (haircut, conditioner, blowdry) was a good choice. We discussed what haircut look I was trying to achieve when one has thick, healthy hair. In the end, my hair look great. It's was shiny, balanced, and flowing. The thermal conditioner smell wonderful, helped lay down any runaway hair. read more

I've been going to Carmel Ann for the last 2.5 years that I've lived in the Bay Area and she's the best! I have thick, curly, and long red hair that is colored. It's really difficult to find someone that can work with my hair and get the color just right, and she does such a fantastic job! Also, she has so much patience. She's always smiling and taking her time, and you can really tell she loves her job! It takes about an extra 30-40 minutes to straighten my hair, and sometimes I give her the option to just style it curly if she's in a hurry, and she always takes the extra time to straighten it for me! I would highly recommend Carmel Ann as your long-term stylist/colorist! read more

Carmel Ann is the only stylist I will trust with my curly hair! After decades of cutting & coloring my own hair because no one else could get it right, I approached Carmel Ann for advice and decided to work with her. I am so glad I did!!! She is extremely talented, kind and professional! I would highly recommend her to anyone, who is looking for a stylist. Wheather you need regular maintenance or a total makeover, Carmel Ann, is your Stylist Lady!!! read more

You know when you get that pre hair appointment anxiety when you try a new stylist? As soon as I met Carmel Ann that feeling completely dissipated! She really takes her time to fully understand the look you are trying to achieve, and provides excellent recommendations. I went in with a harsh ombré balayage, that was on the verge of brassiness. I left with a beautiful sombre as a result of root touch up, toning (with all Guy Tang products), conditioning treatment to preserve the integrity of the hair, and a fresh cut! I definitely found a hidden gem of a stylist, can't wait to return and continue upgrading my look! read more

I have been going to Carmel Ann for over 5 years now. She is an amazing hair stylist and wonderful person. She always listens to what I am thinking and my curly, long hair turns out perfect every time! For my 30th birthday, Carmel Ann did an awesome job putting me hair into a fake bob for my "Roaring out of my 20's" themed party. It looked spectacular!! I would highly recommend Carmel Ann if you are looking for a highly trained, highly reliable, friendly, great hair stylist! read more

I have been seeing Carmel Ann for the last year and a half and am always happy with the results after a cut and highlights. She's great at making blonde look natural (people ask me if it's my natural color!) and making my thin hair look fuller with layers. Carmel Ann is also very personable and flexible. Her new salon is located in an easy to find shopping center off El Camino with plenty of parking. The prices are very reasonable for the area and she takes her time with clients. I've sent many people to Carmel Ann and would recommend her to anyone looking for a great haircut and/or highlights! read more

Over three years ago I was in the market for a new stylist because I was not happy. A acquaintance friend of mine has curly hair, like mine, that is super cute. I asked for a referral to her stylist, and Carmel Ann came into my life. Carmel Ann is very good with listening and executing what I want. We've changed the shape, length and color of my hair over the last few years, and I am very happy. I can recommend Carmel Ann without reservation for blonde (going grey) highlighted, curly hair. Her location in San Mateo is convenient with lots of parking. Carmel Ann is very friendly and doesn't upsell the wonderful products available for purchase in her salon. read more

I write YELP reviews once every two or three years; only when I am really impressed with service and want to spread the word. I have to Yelp about the fantastic service and hair style I received at my first visit to Carmel's salon in San Mateo. I recommend treating yourself to her attention to details and fine, caring professional service. Ms De Rosa is very knowledgeable and experienced and I feel that you are in good hands when you choose Ms. DeRosa to style your hair to perfection. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Carmel and her talents. She has amazing focus and knows exactly what to do with even the toughest color cases. She is an artist. Her calm energy makes the experience a relaxing one. The private suite makes you feel very pampered. I had a lousy day... until my hair appointment with Carmel Ann. We chatted and became friends very quickly. Her energy is very lovely, calming- she has a delicate touch but really knows how to do hair. She taught me how to do my styling after years of not getting it. She has a lovely presence- and gave me great hair from a simple sketch! I wish I would have found her years ago!!! read more

Such good customer service, so polite and listened to my needs. Had a great conversation about expectations.
