Dr. Boyer is an exceptional dentist, and I feel very lucky to have found her. She took me in as a patient during a difficult period between failed jaw surgeries and orthodontic treatment, and she was consistently kind, warm, honest, and supportive throughout my care. What stands out most is the integrity of the entire practice. Dr. Boyer never oversells or pressures you into anything, and if there is ever something that may need to be paid out of pocket, the team is very transparent and gives you the price in advance. That level of honesty is so hard to find in a dentist. They also work with excellent specialists, including endodontists, which made me feel even more confident in my treatment. I have to say this is by far one of the best dental clinics I have been to. I have been needing some dental work and I called this clinic to try to schedule the soonest appointment they have. Luckily for me, I was able to get a same day appointment for a deep cleaning. The moment I entered the Studio dental, I was impressed with the ambience and the cleanliness. It was a spa-like experience. Every encounter was welcoming and very friendly. A dental assistant April helped me with x-ray, scans, she made me feel comfortable and she explained the whole process to me. I was also informed of all the upfront charges and fees prior to any work done. Danylyn is one of the dental hygienists who performed my deep cleaning, she really did a great job in making me feel at ease. I fear needles, and I am not a fan of going to dental appointments, but Danylyn was very gentle and comforting. They have a tv installed on their ceiling and she provided me with headphones to watch Netflix while she does her work. Dr. Boyer was pleasant and thorough explaining things to me. My overall experience was superb. I am very satisfied, and I highly recommend this place. I will definitely be coming back to this dental clinic again. read more

Studio Dental, and specifically Dr. Boyer gave me results I didn't know were possible without veneers! Started seeing Studio Dental because the first dentist I saw in SF told me I needed a crown and I wanted a second opinion so I came here at the recommendation of a coworker. Studio Dental recommended a onlay instead and we did some more important dental work. I had mentioned that I wasn't happy with my front teeth that the coloring of the cavity was stained and that the prior SF dentist told me I would only be able to achieve any good results with 4 front veneers. Dr. Boyer was on the job and made it her mission to help me achieve a symmetrical and cohesive smile while keeping my teeth intact. She recommended re-filling the one front tooth and the smaller one to the left and reshaping slightly, and adding 1 bonded veneer to another side tooth which was smaller. I could go into much further detail but I will it short: I felt like every thing done to my teeth was conservative, while effective at making my smile perfect. The work was done very meticulously and with check-ins through out the process. I used to love Studio Dental. However, their dentists continually pestered me about wearing a night guard over a year. Some were better than others, but the last was intolerable. She was unable to present a coherent argument about why I should wear a night guard. Eventually, I got two second opinions, and both dentists said my tooth wear was normal. The second said that night guards are only indicated for pathological wear, and my teeth displayed no signs of pathological wear whatsoever. I recommend avoiding them for anything but a routine cleaning, and politely informing them that you are uninterested in expensive, uncomfortable, and unnecessary additional work. read more

I've been going to Studio Dental for about 5 years now, and it has always been a great experience. Recently, I've had an extraction performed by Dr. Wouden, and she was so quick and subtle that I didn't even feel anything. Zero pain or discomfort, I'm very happy with the results. There are definitely worse dentists out there, but I can't in good faith recommend this one. First, despite the sleek website, they're not particularly professional. They called to reschedule an appointment less than 24 hours before it was scheduled and when I was running late the next day (because the new time didn't work well as well), they cancelled outright. I've never had a dentist cancel an appointment, so this was a pretty big red flag. For reference, if I tried to reschedule less than 24 hours in advance, they would have charged me a $50 fee. Second, the cleaning, while admirably thorough, outright HURT. I don't just mean during the appointment, although there was a lot of shoving sharp metal tools directly in the gumlime. I mean my teeth physically hurt the next day and were sensitive for a week after. I don't have sensitive teeth normally, so it's very noticeable that drinking cold or hot fluids really irritates my teeth now. Again, I admire the thorough cleaning, but most good dentists are able to clean without directly touching the gums or eroding tooth enamel. They recommended three month cleanings, but I think that would be very abrasive if I did that with this office. Finally, the dentist was very aggressive in identifying problems that needed treatment. The doctor even emailed me after-hours to identify additional issues that needed immediate treatment. I didn't get the sense that they were interested in getting my consent since they just told me they were going to schedule the additional appointments without ever really asking.* The whole thing reminded me of a Groupon dentist I once went to who all but said that my teeth would fall out and scheduled a bunch of treatments that turned out to be unnecessary when I went to a second (non-Groupon) dentist. I definitely get the sense that this is a business first and foremost, instead of a medical center focused on patients. IPads and good tech are great, but they can't make up for bad fundamentals. * On the issue of consent, I don't think I ever signed a health privacy consent form. All of the consent forms involved clicking "yes" to one sentence questions on an iPad. read more

I wholeheartedly recommend Studio Dental! The folks there are excellent and every experience I've had has been wonderful. In particular, I just had some work done on my teeth by Dr. Patel. I don't like going to the dentist and not understanding what's going on during the cleaning/work or what the dentist recommends for treatment. Dr. Patel's bedside manner is great - during my cleaning, she clearly described everything she was doing and why. When it came time to make treatment recommendations, she made sure I understood my choices and felt good about the plan. I had an issue that I didn't realize could be addressed (previous dentists had not mentioned any treatment options) - gum recession caused "notched" areas of my teeth to get exposed near the gumline. Dr. Patel did a composite inlay technique I'd never seen before where she built a lot of the composite outside of my mouth. She was able to totally fix the notching issue, and now my teeth feel noticeably better - less sensitivity and solid, smooth tooth all the way up to the gum line. I love this place for general dental issues and emergencies and I went there for 3-4 years while I lived in the city, but they aren't great for Invisalign and I'd go see an orthodontist instead if you need to fix crowding. After I was done with Invisalign, I still had a posterior open bite (this could have been a limitation of the technology itself, but then I shouldn't have been recommended treatment in the first place). I ended up needing maxillary expansion, jaw surgery (and braces obviously) for sleep apnea so I wasted thousands of dollars on my Invisalign treatment. read more

Convenience. I'm a big fan of Studio Dental because they've a mobile trailer near my offices (past and current). Their mobile trailers offer two seats and they understand you're tryna get in and out because you're unfortunately have meetings to get back to. For their trailer locations, you check in on an iPad virtually. They ensure your insurance details are correct and if they aren't - (1) should have done it online when you booked your appointment or (2) they give you an iPad to complete the details. The trailer is very nice. There are monitors in the ceiling so you can watch Netflix during your visit. I've also had great understandable service here - whether it's the normal cleanings or a filling. They always seem to be on-time, I've never had an issue. This past weekend I went to office location and it's the same look and feel but a bit more spacious. They have more chairs and had a Saturday appointment - major win! I'd recommend!!! read more

Follow-up review, specifically on Invisalign. I began treatment in 2015, and due to extensive international travel, Drs. Boyer and Patel at Studio Dental worked with me to stretch out what would normally be a 52-week treatment to more than double that. They were communicative about what we could change in the treatment plan and what we couldn't. They were patient and detail-oriented in crafting me a well-aligned smile. They have continued to be generous in providing replacements when trays were lost (thankfully only twice), broken (once) or just needed a UV cleaning. I debated leaving a review after the first time I came here but after the second time I thought I'd share my experience. Overall my experience here was good. The office is beautiful and the dentists and staff are very kind. The reason I'm giving a low rating is because these dentists are very aggressive and I think it has to do with them being young and fresh out of school. I went to two separate dentists here within a year apart and was told that I had multiple cavities. I haven't had cavities since I was a kid so I was pretty shocked. I decided to fly back home to have my family dentist give a second opinion. He told me my teeth were healthy and that the areas they said were cavities were not. I have deep grooves in my molars and he said by filling them it would be considered preventative for a future cavity but they were not in fact cavities. Before moving I had gone to him for decades so he knew my teeth well and didn't recommend filling in the grooves bc it can create different issues later. The first time I came into Studio Dental in 2018 the dentist told me I needed three fillings at $350 each for a total of $1,050. Then a year later a different dentist told me I needed two fillings rather than three... in different teeth. I found this to be peculiar. All in all, I wouldn't come back. After my first experience I figured I'd give them another chance at least for a teeth cleaning and to try a new dentist. But honestly I've had much better cleanings elsewhere. I think the concept of this dental studio is cool but I'd take an experienced dentist over all the fluff any day. read more

Studio Dental is a modern and convenient dental practice with mobile locations throughout San Francisco. They have mobile dental clinics located near my work but also a fixed location on Taylor St. with more appointment availability to fit my schedule. Appointments: Easy to make online without needing to call into their office. The website shows a calendar with available dates and times, click and input information, then confirm. An email will be sent with options to reschedule or cancel. There's a charge for late cancellations so keep an eye on when that cut-off is. Service: I've only been here for cleanings and they've done a great job getting me in quickly, cleaning my teeth thoroughly and professionally, then sending me on my way. Their dental clinic has modern equipment with televisions and Netflix to entertain you while you're getting work done. Arguably the nicest dental office I've been to. The only issue may be their staff changes often and so if you're the type of person to prefer a specific dentist or a specific hygienist all the time it may be tricky to coordinate that. I've never checked who was doing my cleaning or who the dentist was because it hasn't mattered, all the cleanings I've received from various hygienists have been comfortable, thorough, and excellent. I've never gotten advanced dental treatment here but for cleanings this place has been the most convenient and comfortable experience for me. And best of all, as far as I can tell, the dental care they provide is excellent. The dentists are all friendly, knowledgable, and excellent communicators. I had my first dental appointment at San Francisco. I checked and compared several dental clinic and chose this high score one, which does not disappoint me. The online appointment service is easy for everyone and convenient to use. The whole service process is professional and comfortable, the doctor is knowledgeable and all people here are friendly. Above the teeth cleaning/checking bed (sorry do not the name of that), it has a TV monitor. You will be asked to choose the movie/TV shows you love on the Netflix. When you lie on the bed during teeth cleaning and checking, you won't feel boring any more. Highly recommend this feature. Also, the dental hygienist will give you the goggle to avoid the water splash. After leaving, you will receive an email for the conclusion of this visit and the bills information quickly. The only little thing I do not like for this clinic is that all room is half open with no doors, which is easily to hear some sound from other rooms. But it is not a big deal. Overall it is a wonderful experience. I had my annual teeth checking and cleaning here. Will consider to do the filling and orthodontics in future if needed. read more

I started going for regular teeth cleanings at the truck near work for convenience and love their whole experience. After chatting with Dr. Creighton and weighing the pros and cons, I decided to go for Invisalign, which I've been considering for nearly 10 years. She was so great in patiently answering my questions and did not at all try and push any treatment on me like other practices have. All of the dentists are great - I appreciated the flexibility of being able to see other practitioners when schedules didn't match to see Dr. Creighton and with their truck and brick and mortar office, getting a convenient appointment is always a breeze. Their attention to detail, ease of working with your insurance, efficient online portal system and friendly staff are amazing (shout out to Colin and Lizzie for being so great). I continue to be very happy with my experience at Studio Dental. I started using them via their mobile dentist van outside of my company's HQ. Then I realized I could use their brick and mortar location if I wanted or needed to see a dentist at a different time. Every time I've been seen whether for routine or somewhat urgent care, it's been an excellent experience. The office equipment is all latest and greatest. The dentists are non alarmist often saying "let's watch this" rather than the horror stories I hear about people feeling like their dentist is always drilling and filling potentially unnecessarily. I have recently moved to the east bay and I considered finding a more local dentist, but the ease of making appointments, availability of Saturday appointments and overall great experience have me thinking I'll just keep using Studio Dental! read more

This place will completely change your view of dentists forever and make you question why you don't love the dentist more. Very few dentists will live up to the Studio Dental experience, it's almost unfair the competitive advantage they have. Entering the building feels like you're at a Zen-like spa. High ceilings, wooden slated walls to divide an open space and walkways lined by sections full of black, polished stones as decor and potted plants. You're handed an iPad to submit your new patient information and have little wait time before you're taken back to your chair. You'll be confused at first when they invite you to sit down to start your appointment with X-rays. Rather than having to stand up with awkward magnet pads in front of a machine that makes weird noises and takes forever, you lie down in the same chair you will be in for your cleaning, wearing the magnet pads, and the assistant will then scan your teeth using a giant X-ray gun with a shield built into it. It seriously looks like a device straight out of space wars and it gets the job of taking X-rays done super fast. Then, you're told to look up. Coming down from the ceiling is a computer screen that shows all your X-rays and the dentist comes in to talk you through a very detailed explanation of how your teeth are represented. 35 years on this planet and it's the first time a dentist has been able to clearly and quickly explain my teeth and what to watch out for. Then, you're handed an Apple TV remote and given your option of Netflix shows...because guess what, that screen in the ceiling is also a TV with wireless headphones for you to listen. Watching Queer Eye while getting a cleaning will make anyone want to come the dentist! Efficient cleaning followed by a clear explanation of billing and insurance and you're on your way! The only downside is being onone of the roughest corners in the Tenderloin, you almost wouldn't know it's there. But the seamless online appointments and game-changing experience is worth the trek over. read more

Studio Dental makes going to the dentist as painless as it can be. They have several location options in San Francisco to choose from. Just go to their site pick a location, and choose from the available time slots. They move the truck around regularly and can even come park at your office. I was able to book an appointment for the very next day. My visit took an hour for a routine cleaning which seems normal, if not somewhat speedy. I arrived a few minutes late and was shown right to my chair to get started. You're greeted at the door by a virtual receptionist via a video call through an iPad by the door. I'm still not convinced "Jake" was a real person as his level of pep and telephone voice were almost *too* perfect, but hey, I'm not complaining! He also goes over your bill with you on the way out. My insurance covered 100% of the visit so I didn't even have to swipe my credit card. The hygienist and dentist were super friendly and professional. Before your cleaning starts they offer to put on anything from Netflix for you to watch on a screen mounted in the ceiling above your chair. It felt somewhat ironic watching Anthony Bourdain chow down on Peruvian chocolate on Parts Unknown while I was getting my potential cavities inspected, but it was a welcome distraction. Overall, I'd recommend Studio Dental because of the convenience, cleanliness, friendly staff, and good customer service. And of course the novelty of a dentist office on wheels is kind of fun. Pros: Convenient. They were parked across the street from my office, my company had arranged insurance information with them so I just had to do an online form and not provide any other forms of payment or insurance verification. Efficient. I was in and out in about 30 minutes. Chill. You can watch Netflix while they clean your teeth, it felt less cold and personality-less than a normal dentist. Areas for improvement: I felt like the cleaning could have been either more thorough or just given me more feedback on how things were. Dr. Patel did provide some comments and suggestions but some more information on the state of my teeth and such would have been helpful. No x-rays were taken either which I have always had with my twice a year cleanings. I also felt like there was a fairly long gap between when I sat down in the chair and when the cleaning started, but I think the doctor was preparing. All in all, this wasn't a perfect dentist experience but it was definitely convenient and I would consider going back for sure.They clearly keep costs low by not having a huge office overhead, having a remote receptionist (that you communicate with via Netflix), and other such things. If I was getting something more extensive done, I would probably do a little more research in finding a dentist but for a cleaning, Studio Dental did the job pretty well. read more
