Since COVID began 9 months ago, I…read morehaven't had a hair cut and living in Seattle, I didn't fully trust the safety protocols and social distancing policies of the salons in the city. While staying on Whidbey, I randomly looked up hair stylists and was extremely impressed by the phenomenal safety protocols that Salon Bella had (health waiver with sanitized pens, one client at a time, sanitization of chairs and tools in between customers, and even sanitization of POS surfaces used for payment). Tal was also able to accommodate a same day appointment at his very clean and modern salon. He helped me cut off 10 inches of quarantine hair into a lob that I absolutely love! Amazing service, COVID safety protocols, haircut, styling, and value for money!

When I was there Kalea was very professional and she helped me put together what kind of cut I wanted. I went for a shag/mullet type of style and Kalea executed it perfectly. I'll definitely be back in the future and I recommend anyone who is hesitant to go to a salon to try out Ship Shape!!

I took my son here today to get his hair pulled together…read more I'd originally made an appointment with the owner Carolyn Merrit but through no fault of her own, we had to cancel and reschedule with someone else in shop. So we saw Heather Head. Let me say first off...this shop is really cute and the nautical theme well done. We had a little bit of a hard time finding it within the building but it's upstairs :) in the same building as the bagel place. So back to Heather. She was absolutely adorable. Fun, friendly, and just about a perfect match for him. She listened and was just great. He was thrilled to get a scented hot towel treatment. It was his first time at an actual barber shop and it was a very good experience for him. It was an hour drive for us but worth it. We made a day of it and had fun. Ship Shape is a very inclusive place with a mission to be a comfortable experience to everyone. This is actually how we got there, looking for a good place to go where my largely queer family can go without walking directly into obvious nasty biases. This isn't a great experience and I do my best to not expose people to it. There was only a welcoming friendly atmosphere, fun music, clean and pleasant environment and a lovely hair stylist. My kid was in heaven and now his sister is demanding to go next time! I definitely recommend giving Ship Shape a try. I know we will be back.
