Stumbled on this place whilst leaving Greensboro late night (around 10pm +/-) heading back home to…read moreWinston Salem on a rainy night. Now this place is on my radar and when I need coffee in Greensboro I will look for Common Grounds. Most other places were closed or closing at this time of night and consider ourselves so fortunate to have found this place. To me it is the essential Coffee House. It must cater to college age clientele, as observed that night. Grungy and edgy atmosphere with a beatnik vibe that night. Especially with the poetry reading and rotation of musicians doing the music of The Beatles and the 1960s. Which makes sense since it was Sir Paul McCartney's birthday that day. I felt like I time traveled decades back. The coffee that we got was excellent. I believe I got a standard cafe latte. Inviting coffee aromas. Housed in an building from an older error, in an immense space with multiple areas/nooks. Back area I did not spend time in but I could see there was a pool table back there with people just hanging out. Definitely seem like places where people could just be themselves whilst being warm and inviting to those near them. Felt welcoming to intellectualism and good discussions. Also felt like a place not to be rushed and just stay however long. Plenty of board and other games on site. Kind of limited parking in the lot right in front of the building. Parking on the avenue might be challenging? We were lucky to get a spot right by the front door in the parking lot. Close proximity to UNCG campus and other schools. Probably a place that can be walk to fairly easy. In closing one of my favorite coffee houses that I've experienced in the Piedmont triad area.

My cold mocha was so delicious. There was a band playing and it was so relaxing to hear him sing…read more This coffee shop is such a vibe. They have a lot of choices in the menu and they also offer coffee by the bag.

We've had an amazing time on all occasions. The space is very comfortable inside with a huge bar top and cozy seating throughout. They have a ton of books and wall decor on the history of Greensboro as well. TVs inside with sports on so the place appeals to many. And the covered patio is great with plenty of seating outside. Huge variety of whites, reds, sweet and dessert wines, plus a nice beer selection for those more into the hops. They also have a small menu of bites, apps and charcuterie's to go along with the drinks. Not a full meal, but a perfect pairing for the drinks. The owners are a blast as well. Inviting, friendly and a pleasure to talk to. They have a ton of activities planned weekly and monthly. Live music all the time, special wine flights, and amazing dinner and wine events you can sign up for in advance. A great pit stop while shopping at Friendly, an outing for drinks with friends and family, or enjoy live music and special events throughout the week and month. Something for everyone!
