Denise is phenomenal and she surrounds herself with a team that is professional, considerate and competent. There were a fair amount of questions I had to answer about which photos we wanted and this made me feel at ease knowing that the team would make sure I got all the photos I wanted for my special day. I ordered a boudoir photo package in addition to the wedding photos and video. The boudoir photo shoot was an incredible experience and Denise made me feel incredibly at ease and sexy as hell. I got the proofs and was able to view them in the studio - this was a special day and it was helpful having another set of eyes and also someone there to help me not be so critical of myself!! The final result was a book of photos of me feeling sexy, confident and amazing. My husband sat, mouth open, carefully going through each page and I felt like the most beautiful girl in the world. On our wedding day there were absolutely ZERO ISSUES. When Denise arrived, I breathed a sigh of relief, she took care of everything. I was confident that the pictures were going to be exactly what I wanted and then some. Overall, my experience with Modern Love was beyond anything I could have ever dreamed of. They know how to take incredible photos and have done a lot of training to ensure that they are getting photos that you not only see as visually beautiful but photos that make you feel something, photos that make you experience and witness the beauty and magic of a moment. This is honestly a hard review for me to write. I did love Denise and her personality, and I loved…read moremy engagement shoot that I did with Katie. But my wedding shoot was extremely, so extremely disappointing. We opted not to have a videographer and told people not to take pictures during the ceremony, so I'm just left with sad pictures( or the lack of pictures I guess). For starters, the photographers were 45 minutes late. I heard there was a lot of traffic, and I wonder if this is the first thing that threw everything off. We initially signed a contract for Denise and Katie as the second shooter, but we found out that Katie was promoted as a main photographer, so there was a new guy. The second photographer was nice but pretty useless. You could tell which photos he shot, and they were pretty poor. He did the groomsmen getting ready, but all of the photos are just close ups. The guys did a pillow fight (tradition with his friends), and every single one of them is just a close up of a man holding a pillow. Also, one of the reasons we chose the venue was due to its interior, and I spent a lot of time looking at wedding photos done inside the building. I remember asking for photos in the hallway and taking a bunch, but I didn't see any. I was told they couldn't shoot properly in there because of the lighting. I'm not sure why all the other photographers from that venue were able to get pictures, but I couldn't. We ended up with a handful of portraits, many of them disappointing because either my hair is blowing all over my face or my husband couldn't keep a straight face. We spent a good portion of our decorating budget on flowers, but I don't have a single photo of my centerpieces. My florist asked to add them to my portfolio, but I didn't have any to offer her. The biggest, most disappointing issue is that there are zero pictures of the whole wedding party, and I don't have a single photo of the whole family. How did that escape people? I wasn't keeping track of each photo, and I really expected the photographers to do that. I don't have one with just my parents or with my sister, who was my maid of honor. These pictures were things I just took for granted. It definitely wasn't because we ran out of time because between the ceremony and reception, I was just sitting around in my room for about 45 minutes. Aside from Denise's personality,  I was extremely disappointed with the whole day.  I even tried to get a refund for the "trash the dress" session I had also purchased and was met with a refusal. They did refund us for the cost of a second photographer though. To this day, I get really sad seeing other great wedding photos and for years thinking about it could bring me to the verge of tears. That being said, obviously I survived and I did absolutely love my wedding. I still have beautiful memories of my wedding, and I'm happily married with a gorgeous kiddo. I just wish I had some photos too.

He immediately put me at ease, walked me through the process and made helpful suggestions, for which I was grateful. He took MANY pictures and I had lots from which to choose. He was also extremely responsive and finished the touch-ups quickly. I would go back to Hugo in a heartbeat and 100% recommend him to others. My needs were pretty conventional but his website shows a number of creative options and I think he could work with anyone to get them what they need.

As far as communication goes there seems like there could definitely be some room for improvement.

We are generally shy and awkward in front of the camera but Adam put us both at ease during our engagement shoot. He was very reassuring too when my wife thought it wasn't going as well as she had hoped. During our wedding, Adam beautifully captured all our special moments with the people we love. We like his style and the different poses he had us try. We have enjoyed viewing our photo gallery so far. The only thing that could've been better was his promptness in communication (resulting in this 4-star review). Sometimes we didn't hear back from him in a timely fashion about basic but important information, and could go several days without a reply. A response often times would only come after a repeat message to him. Although, we understand things happen, being more timely with phone calls/appts certainly would've earned a 5-star experience! It may help future potential clients to know up front what sort of communication or timeframe to expect. Do not hire Blue Lotus Films for your filming needs!!…read more I hired Blue Lotus Films to make a professionally edited film of a live performance I created. The quality of the film they created was beyond unprofessional. Sarah, the lead of this company, even admitted to me in emails that some of the footage from the videographers she subcontracted was below professional standards. To name a few issues with the video: -whole parts of songs are cut off -bows and speech at the end are missing -there is shaky footage throughout whole video where it jumps off the stage and into audience, audience's heads cutting off what's happening on stage (one of the videographers was videoing "hand-held" instead of on a steady tripod) -there are misaligned end credits with incorrect titles (e.g. "production" instead of "cast) -there are black spots in the video where it goes blank -the sound file was misaligned with video in certain parts -different color/lighting from the 2 cameras that were being used (one is dull and one is bright) -there are missing key parts of the show that I requested ahead of time to capture (both on the phone and in writing) - because of this lack of following direction, there was only 1 camera shooting for about a third of the show. -corrupted files which meant that end of show was completely cut off. After all this, I requested a refund, as the footage was completely unusable, and Sarah refused. Terrible business ethics. If you want a professional video and to work with someone ethical, find another company.

Working with Carolyn was one of my favorite photo shoots to date! She is incredibly talented and professional, but also has a warm and friendly vibe that makes the shoot comfortable and fun. Her studio is this amazing loft with incredible natural light (which is most flattering) equipped with different backgrounds, lights, props and a giant fan (fun)! One thing that made this session stand out from other studio sessions, is that usually you are limited with the items that you bring as a model, but she has a stockpile of fabrics, wardrobe and props that is fun to experiment with! Some of my FAVORITE looks were using a random hat or veil that she was like "hey, try this!" Another thing that I want to note is that Carolyn is a former model herself and this is HUGE. I've worked with many photographers who don't know what it is like posing on the other side of the lens, and Carolyn is adept at not only knowing how to capture a beautiful shot, but also how to get you to look the absolute best that you can. She gave great directions and wasn't afraid to take a second to smooth a stray hair or unruffle a piece of clothing. The final photos that I got exceeded my expectations and I use them professionally in my portfolio now. From my experience, she is exceptionally great at soft natural light, black and white, and has a style that is fun and almost-candid beauty shots. Like she just caught you at the perfect moment! LOVE HER!

I just had my second session with Stuart and Jackie, and I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. I'm an attorney, and I always joke that Stuart has saved me a fortune in therapy. There's something about seeing yourself through his lens that reminds you of the most confident, powerful version of yourself. He captures that energy, and carrying that with me has been priceless. He guides the entire photoshoot so naturally that you forget you're even posing. For this latest session, we walked around downtown San Francisco, and I have never felt more like myself. He doesn't just take pictures -- he brings something out in you. Huge shoutout to Jackie, the makeup artist, too. Do yourself a favor and book a session with Stuart.
