My two year old daughter and I attended the Mommy & Me class and it was super fun. Compared to other Mommy & Me classes in the area, it is certainly the most affordable, only $40/6 week session. They are offering various summer camps and they work with the Manor Schools to provide classes during the school year. Check them out on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/centerstagedancevb

She then wanted to try hip hop so I put her in the summer camp for hip hop and she loved it. Well when the time came to re register her for fall classes, I took too long and the classes filled up. I wrote the staff explaining how much she really wanted to be in hip hop. Next thing I know I got an email confirming the hip hop registration. I love how involved the staff is with each and every student. I love that anytime I go in to pick my daughter up from class, it's nothing but positive enegery. I love this company and I dont ever see us leaving.

I knew that when I moved away, I would never find another dance studio that compares. The teachers are amazing, the classes become families, and the recital's are always so fun. The recitals are once a year, and they're always an amazing, broadway-style production. They're on the big stage (Harrison Opera House or Chrysler Hall), costumes are carefully selected, and the production of the show is NEXT LEVEL. I recommend everyone attend and sign up their kids (boys and girls!) for dance classes at Bobbi and Helen. It is so worth it, and the greatest memories will be made.

The sudden news came with a promise that the multiple deposits could be moved to 2021 but they couldn't afford to refund my money. Pretty awful considering I then had to find 3 weeks of summer camp at the last minute for my two children with almost no notice and down a few hundred dollars. I email immediately that I would not put my trust In them for any future sessions, no response. So 2021 rolls around and I send numerous emails requesting my refund for the previous years camp hoping they can "afford" to return my 6 deposits rather than steal my money as a punishment for their business' poor performance- nope. They do not even acknowledge my emails. Pathetic. So I can't speak to what kind of service they might provide but beware giving them any deposits Bc if they decide to cancel your service- they'll collect your money with zero regret or ethical consideration. Being involved with other dance studios, I've never seen something more selfish or unprofessional.

There are classes that range from 3 year olds to older adults to teach you an array from ballet, hip hop, jazz, lyrical, tap, acrobatics, and more. The instructors who teach have been doing this for years! As for the little ones, you'll be amazed at how much they learn. The instructors are quite good with kids and reward them with stickers for good behavior. Lessons are typically held during the school year, but they also offer summer workshops. Recitals are divided according to level: Petite, Intermediate, Junior, Senior. So far they have all been held at Willet Hall in Portsmouth. A wonderful benefit of my Medicare Supplemental plan is free access to lots of gyms, including the Rec Centers. So I get free cards without having to pay the city resident's annual fee. Recently my use has been limited to watching from the bleachers while my son & grandson swim. Also I love early voting at the Rec Center. In my earlier pre knee replacement days & before retiring I would walk to the Rec Center to both swim & use the machines in the work out room. The pool is great for water walking & other non impact exercises that I learned in a pre knee surgery physical therapy program at another facility. The machines in the weight room were also knee strengthening learned from previous Physical Therapy. Because of the swim teams & classes offered I learned the best time for the pool was when the Rec Center first opened for the day. There were always tons of people waiting for the door to open. The crowd mainly consisted of seniors who would go to the pool every day or do gym walking decked out in fashionable sweatsuits, probably widows or widowers trying to attract a new spouse. The Senior crew that chose the pool didn't interfere with any of my exercises. There was a group who spent their time in a circle treading water & gossiping. Since I knew a few I was invited to join, which I did from time to time. Those sessions provided me with all the scoop on everything happening In Bayside at the time. The crowd left when classes began, which gave me time to get home & ready for work. The weight room is well stocked with equipment on which one had to do a short training session before using. The early crowd there consisted of buff guys who wanted to work out before work. The Rec Center consists of much, much more. There are a plethora of classes ranging from Crafting to Yoga & Pilates, which I really should take advantage of. Workout groups are offered. There is a racquet ball court that seems very popular. Adjacent is a disc golf center. The very large indoor pool offers an open area, swimming lanes, diving section & much, much more. I wish it had built when my son was young & was on a nearby Bayside neighborhood swim team. The bleachers & lounging area outside the pool window wall offer a great view for parents to watch. It's such a wonderful facility to be in the neighborhood. Thank you Virginia Parks & Recreation.
