Love Natalie! Seriously this girl is amazing! I starting working with Natalie when I was about 8 months into having extensions as my previous stylist had moved away. She has always been truthful about my hair and what it needs and helps guides me. I took a break from the extensions and dye it instead. Natalie did a great job helping to match the color I wanted and making sure it would fade nicely. Natalie never cuts too much off either and helps me gain length. Cindy Rochelle is AMAZING! She is definitely my new go-to! I recently went platinum blonde in January (aka YELLOW at the salon and had to DIY time it at home myself) and came in thinking I'd get my roots bleached and most likely have to do the same (I have dirty blonde roots, but have never been platinum blonde before and thought maybe this was just the battle I would have to keep facing). In my head I always wanted the color to be more of an icy or ashy platinum blonde, not white, not yellow. Cindy was AMAZING with how gentle she was with my sensitive head and very detailed/specific with my color, checking very methodically as I was under the dryer. She styled it great and toned it to the shade I just wanted! I love the salon too, they have great coffee, a nice calm atmosphere, good music and everyone seems to enjoy being there. I wrote such a detailed post as I feel the experience is just as important as the product/result and I've gone to Gene Juarez and "The Shop" (right around the corner... they are talented, but the atmosphere is chaotic and the receptionist always has a bit of an attitude) for YEARS to only have mediocre experiences. Finally a salon AND a stylist I'm absolutely in love with! I would definitely recommend this salon if you are looking for an experienced, passionate and detailed stylist/colorist as well as a beautiful experience while you're there. read more

Well I first of all would like to say that my Stylist Destiny did a phenomenal job on my hair extensions. Shes the sweetest most warm friendly person. Loved her. I wish that I could rate her instead. She seems to do her job well and follows the rules of the salon. Rules that make no sense at all. I was worried about coming in for my appointment at first. I initially called to inquire about hair extensions and check to see if they were skilled wit Hothead hair, which my sister whos a stylist in California, loves and recommended to me. So I found out that studio 150 had a girl who did them. I was happy to go in for the consultation after checking out the website regarding prices. I went in to speak to Megan and she matched my color and quoted me for the hair, we also discussed pricing for a root color which she said would be only 60. She mentioned the service would be 150.00$. I was happy with that and agreed to move forward so I paid for the hair, three packs total at about 600$ and scheduled an appointment. So two days later I get a call from someone at the salon, they left a message saying that Megan is no longer employed there and that another girl would be doing my hair. So I'm a bit worried, thinking well, why is this girl that I had a consultation with just two days ago no longer employed there, and what could have happened. I decided to go in anyway and took a chance. When I got their I was immediately greeted by Destiny and offered a cold beverage while I waited just a few minutes for her to prepare. She came to grab me and sat me down at her station and then the owner walks over. Announces that I must be the "extension girl, and then pulls my stylist aside. They were exchanging information about the service, almost in a way where the owner didn't want me to hear. It was a very uncomfortable moment and I felt left out. I'm the client so I'm thinking that i should be included about the services. So when my stylist comes back she explains to me that its going to be a much higher price than what I was originally told. Its not just 150$ for the service its per pack of hair, which i purchased 3. Then I was told they ordered too much hair and I had to take hair home with me. Also the owner tells the stylist to charge me a 10$ fee to do my root color on top of the 60$ because I have long HAIR? How does this make sense? I could understand if you pulled the color all the way through and used more product so charge more to cover the cost, sure. But this definitely was not the case. How is this justified? I later thought how many people went along with it. Silly me being one of them. All pricing should have been a closed book after the consultation with Megan and after I already invested in the hair. Extensions are a long term commitment and all of these details about pricing should have been disclosed before this appointment. I felt so awkward even mentioning anything at this point when your trusting these people to do your hair. But again Destiny was great. All she was doing is listening to the owner. I call the salon to clarify what the price of the " move up" would be,because after all of that I needed to be sure, and it was told to me that per "pack of hair it would be 150$ to move each of them up and 62$ for the roots. I have two and a half packs in so it would be a total of 454. Mind you this is something that needs to be done every 6-8 weeks. So include a tip and Ive already paid over 1000$ at this point. In a month or so more I'm supposed to pay almost 500 more? No! I then contact my family in California who recommended I get this service done and who are knowledgeable in the hair world. They were amazed at the pricing, explained to me what it should have been and suggested I call around in the area to other salons who provide the service to see what they charge. I was shocked to find out that a local business in the greater Seattle area would only charge me a total of 75$ for root color, and 175$ to move my hair up.This is what my sister says that her price is as well as my Aunts price. So my point is Studio 150 (owner) is over priced,not knowledgeable, non competitive, unreasonable, unprofessional and I will never return. read more

I can't review the hair services themselves but.......customer service is bad. I called yesterday looking for the soonest I could get in. I was told they had a 1pm (with Ashley) I was asked if i wanted a bob. I said no I just needed your typical wash cut and style. So i show up at 1255 sit down in the chair only to be told she only had time to dry cut my hair...So why make an appointment if you do not have time to offer what i asked for? If your first soonest appointment did not give you enough time to do what i was looking for, then it is not your first available is it? What a waste. I walked out. I will not return. I should have been told this upon making the appointment. If you are that desperate to fill every absolute minute of your stylists day, you are not full committing yourself to your clients..and are not giving it your all. read more

I have been seeing Acacia for over 3 years now and absolutely love the way my hair looks everytime. It also helps that she has an amazing personality and I look forward to seeing her. I have long hair and began as a brunette and have gradually gone blonde over the years which is hard to do without ruining your hair. I work as a bartender/manager and always get asked where I get my hair done which is why I thought I would write a review. She is constantly learning ways to improve her craft which shows her dedication to giving people the look and feel they want. My mom actually goes to her now and still says she wishes she knew about her and Studio 150 sooner. The staff is so friendly when you walk in the door and they are always making sure you are well taken care of, offering you a beverage before you begin your style and cut. She did a good job, but once I got home I wasn't really happy with it/ which was my fault for not communicating what I wanted exactly. So I called the following day and got back in. Once again, in search of a last minute haircut, I yelped Studio 150 and asked for their best person for a men's cut - not a barber chop. Admittedly, I have a slightly odd shaped head and great stylists can make it look excellent. The receptionist suggest Kensie and I was able to get in on the same day. I took it and she was cool and fun without being overly chatty or intrusive. Oh yeah, also the next day I received a courtesy call from someone at the spa looking for feedback on my experience - believe me I will be back: 1. Great haircut - listened to me and used her expertise to make it better 2. Professionally run - really care about making sure my experience met expectations (exceeded them!) 3. Six months ago I started losing a lot of hair - a LOT of hair - and I went from salon to salon trying to find a stylist who was not only compassionate to my stressful situation, but also who would take the time to talk with me about my concerns and work with me on how to style/cut my hair as I go through this regrowth process. Back in June, I was at the end of my rope and popped into Studio 150 which is right near my house. They were able to fit me in right away with Bebe. From the moment we started talking I could tell how passionate she was about hair and she was so very sensitive to my situation. We talked for over half an hour before she even began to work with my hair. She worked with me on how to style my hair so it would show as much volume as necessary and we discussed remedies I was currently using and her suggestions on things I could try for regrowth. I honestly felt like she was a blessing...it was JUST what I needed to feel better about my hair and know I had someone I could trust to work with me. I later returned with my 14 year old daughter to get a cut and bayalage highlights. Her old stylist was getting to be "outdated". Bebe cut her hair to perfection with a young and flattering style and her highights are gorgeous! She gets compliments all the time and she spends a lot more time with her flat iron and wearing her hair down now! I have tried the best of salons all over Bellevue/Kirkland/Seattle - I had no idea our little gem was right around the corner! Thank you Bebe!! read more

New place for me. Liked the reviews, and a gal from my bridge group recommended Regina. My hair is fairly easy to cut and style, but haven't had good luck anywhere recently. Enjoyed Regina's work! She listened and did exactly what I wanted and did a cut that looked perfect, contemporary and very natural. She stayed late and was very dedicated to me the whole time. Just wonderful service. I'll recommend her and Studio 150 to anyone. Great salon and decor, and nice downtown Kirkland location as well. Park BEHIND the building as they validate. DO NOT park in front or you will have to keep running outside to feed the meter. Get a Starbucks across the street first and take it in with you. Only missing a star as the traffic at the end of the day is quite gruesome. read more

The woman that did my hair was wonderful. She was sweet and did a decent job. She didn't cut my hair as short as I wanted and the highlight she performed was "off." I asked for pink and it was more of a red. I had some temporary pink at home and was able to fix it. The one star has everything to do with the manager. They scheduled my appointment for 11:30 and it took a long time. I told them on the phone before I came in exactly what I wanted and they scheduled me anyway. I have to add that this is the first time I've ever done something drastic to my hair like this but I was feeling bold. So, I had my hair dyed darker and got a few pink highlights. Also, when I called nobody told me there was parking out back and they validated. So, I parked on the street and had to go out 2 hours later to move my car with foil in my hair. As we approached 2pm the stylist walked up to me and I could tell she felt awkward. She then proceeded to ask me if I could leave and come back to get my hair cut because they were going to have an all staff seminar that the owner wanted her to attend. I politely declined. The new color in my hair required a cut (it would have looked strange with the current style) and that's besides the inconvenience of going home and trying to get time off work to come back. She understood and went to let the owner know. Then the owner came over. She was pushy and abrupt. She assured me they'd comp my cut but it wasn't worth it to me. I, politely again, told her no and she pushed back. I had to bluntly tell her no (in fact I think I used the word "ridiculous"). She looked completely put out and begrudgingly told the stylist she could finish my hair up in the back part of the salon while the rest of the staff was in the seminar. She was rude and put me and her stylist in an awkward position. I definitely won't be going back. read more

Based on positive reviews and a Groupon offer, my daughter went to see Kensie for a haircut and color. The groupon did not cover both services so I called ahead and asked specifically what they would charge for long hair. They gave me a definitive quote (not a range) which I confirmed. Then my daughter went in, and she was told that she would have to pay $30 on top of the quote because of the extra color they had to use. That seems like a bait-and-switch to me. I didn't like the fact that they didn't honor their own quote and charged extra but I would even be okay with that, if the cut/color turned out well. My daughter has a warm skin tone and the color was a severe blue-black (my daughter wanted dark brown/black) and the haircut does nothing to flatter... just meh. read more

It was ok. The cuts were slightly above average and the basic color was decent and the price point was a little higher than the quality, but the people are sooo nice and the place is pure convenience for me. Then I had a foil and had to leave. It's one of the worst foil jobs i've ever had. Huge, dark horizontal stripes of color that is uneven on both sides of my head. The price was nearly $260, so this was a shock from both $ and quality. I called and got a normal friendly voice, but not friendly enough to give me a corrective color. I ended up simplly cancelling all future apointments and paying another $120 from somewhere else to get it fixed. I really wanted this place to work out, but it didn't. read more

Nope. I tried this place out about 2 years ago and they put something on my head they said was toner and it literally was burning my head. They rinsed it off after i complained a couple times, finished up as I left but wtf? It burnt my head and the dull pain carried on throughtout the day. I don't know of the girl messed up or I had an allergic reaction to it but I've been told toner shouldnt burn. So who knows. My point is, they didn't discount me, or follow up. I wish I could give separate reviews for different Stylists. I have seen Acacia for balayage and she was awesome. Absolutely zero complaints about her or my experience. Unfortunately, I just went in for a haircut that I scheduled with a different Stylist because I couldn't get in with Acacia and I was not at all happy with my experience. Even though I explained that all I wanted was a very basic trim and bang trim she spent a solid 20-25 minutes trying to sell me various products (even after I told her I was on a timeline to get back to my 2 year old), putting random things in my hair (serious overkill!) and then another 20 minutes actually trimming. I was pretty shocked to see the cost of my 45 minute trim that should have taken 20 minutes and the additional $10 she added for a long hair charge- which was absolutely ridiculous and should 100% BE DISCLOSED AHEAD OF TIME. Extra annoyance when she didn't thank me after tipping her- that's just common courtesy! A really weird experience ... there are just too many salons in Kirkland to settle for unfair upcharges and poor service. If you go- stick with a Stylist that has been recommended to you and don't do a 'walk-in' appt. read more

I've been going to Studio 150 for cuts and color for over a year. I was always happy with it until my last experience. My colorist had left the salon, so I tried a new person. She had cut my hair before but never colored. I have honey blonde hair and she put in white/bleach blonde balayge, which mind you is $$$ and it didn't blend AT ALL with my hair color. It looked horrible and she even asked if this is what I wanted. I said no - so she proceeded to tone my hair 3X!!! She spent 3.5 hours on my color and cut - i've never in my life been in a salon that long before. And the finished product was not pretty - white blond ends, and the toner only took at the top and ended up looking red/orange. Needless to say I wasn't thrilled, but I thought I would think on it. I paid and when I got home i was sure it was as bad as I thought - I called the salon to request a refund and their response was that the SAME GIRL could redo my hair! You've got to be kidding me! I would think in Kirkland with all the business they're getting they could suck it up and refund me for a shitty hair dye job. I could've gone to Bartells and picked up a box dye and done better. Seriously really f$%^& pissed about it. I will never go back there for any service EVER!!! I am going to Seven Salon, Jacob there is a genus - lesson learned - don't try a new colorist. He's supposed to fix my hair tomorrow, there goes another $250 out of my pocket because Studio 150 is so f%^&* greedy. Really pathetic. read more

This place is a sinking ship. I've been having cuts and color here for over a year and it's culminated with the loss of my hair. First I saw Joseph who was wonderful but left; then I saw Destiny who was also nice and followed Joseph's notes. Then she left and they gave me Deana, who promised to cover the gray in my dark blonde hair but turned me completely and permanently black with a false promise that it would lighten out, and the added insult of a root touch up weeks later in a completely different color. So Deana left, and I went back to the salon and asked them to fix the mess: the dark lengths and the two tone. The owner, Teresa, acknowledged the mess, apologized and promised to do whatever it took to fix it at no cost. She showed me a picture of a lovely ash blonde with balayage highlights and said they could realistically do that for me if I wanted. I was happy they were willing to work to fix it and do a good job of fixing it at that. The reality was very different: It took three visits and around 11 and a half hours to complete, and it was not a good job by any means. At my visits I was repeatedly told by the stylist working on me just how much service in $ I was getting for free [as if I hadn't just wanted it right in the first place] & that she was not getting paid for the work. The manager, Cindy called me on the phone to tell me how much I was getting for free when I only paid for an $80 service originally [yes, the root touch up had cost me $80, but you're ignoring the service I paid for that turned my hair black, AND all previous service I'd paid for as a regular customer for over a year to that point], but she denied the stylist was not getting paid, and said she would straighten it out with her so I could be confident she would do her best for me. She also congratulated the stylist and the salon for having kept my hair in such great condition [yes, it was in good condition, before]. AND YET...during those three visits my hair was scrubbed so hard and for so long my head hurt and a large section of hair snapped right off in the bowl. No apologies. So I've found somewhere else now: had my hair cut as short as I can to deal as best as possible with the breakage and the bald patch [although it's really obvious to anyone looking at me there's hair missing], and am repeatedly having color services to retone the orange roots and green lengths. Thanks to Studio 150 my hair is in epically bad condition, is an epically bad color, and me and my hair were treated SO badly I can only conclude they did it intentionally or no longer have any stylists professional enough to fix the salon's own mistakes. read more

A while back I had a Groupon, so I set my appointment, and they set me up with Joseph. He was amazing. Well, I had another appointment a few months ago, and 2 days prior they called and said he no longer works there and to try to set me up with someone else. Really 2 days? I'm very picky about my stylist, so when I find a good one I stay with him/her. I said no. Now, I can't have Joseph do my hair because the owner of Studio150 is blocking him from doing any clients that apparently she thinks are hers just because you step foot into her shop. I follow my stylist wherever he/she goes, so the owner has now F*d up my hair because I can't get it done till she's through being petty. I'm not her property/client. If I want to follow my stylist I can without having to worry about her going after my stylist. read more

I was visiting Kirkland in business and randomly stopped at Studio 150 as a walk-in. Cindy the manager greeted me with enthusiasm and worked around my schedule that day to fit in a cut and beautiful color job. Even though I'm not local I was treated like a longtime client.. With warmth, professionalism and kindness. I trusted Cindy to give me bangs and change me to a much blonder tone and she did an amazing job. Been here twice for a cut and color and LOVED it! Went with a newer employee Diana so the cost was a bit lower, not sure if this is still the case or not but either way she is worth full price. We had great conversation plus she really took an interest in my hair and what I was looking for. Giving me in depth detail about how to keep it healthy, show off the fullness, and grow it out which is what I am trying to do. Definitely recommend calling and asking for her, she takes a bit longer but is worth the time in my opinion. Parking is a bit hairy but if you park behind the salon they will give you a voucher so you don't have to pay or worry about the hourly limit. Check them out! read more

I went to this place because I bought a groupon and my old hair stylist moved. The first time I went here was in November, I was matched with Kim who was awesome! I loved the color and she really listened to me when I told her what I wanted done with my cut. I was so impressed because I had a slew of bad hair cuts for awhile due to my hair being long and super thick! The second time I went was just a few weeks ago and I found out Kim left :( I was really hesitant to go again but I got 25% off my 2nd time due to the original groupon. So I went and was paired with a reallynice gal. She was young, fresh out of the academy, super sweet. But she was trying to make my hair more trendy with sweepy bangs, etc. Well my hair is WAY too thick to do more than layers and thining. My bangs don't sweep! I know it was my fault because I told her she could, I was impressed with her knowledge and thought she could do them. I have had sweepy bangs before and with my hair you have to work them more into heavy layering around my face, I thought I explained that accurately. Nope! Now I have one half of my face chopped to my cheek bone. I have been wearing clips since I left the salon. The other thing I didn't like was that because she took so long on my hair she was late for her next client. She started rushing big time! Now I have chopped areas and the so called "sweepy bangs" are uneven, which makes it hard to clip them back, etc. I also hated that they charge $10 extra if your hair is longer than your shoulders. I don't have that long of hair but I have never been charged such a silly fee. They add another fee for my hair being thick for the color, which I understand for the first all over color - but they charged it for my root touch up too. I have never gotten charged for the fact that my hair is thick anywhere! I still really like the salons color but I won't be going back. I would consider it if Kim came back but then again I don't know if I would want to pay for all the extra fees. read more

Just having relocated to Kirkland, I was in a bit of a panic to find a talented stylist. Thanks to Yelp, I discovered Studio 150, and asked for BB. I have extremely thick hair, and wear it long and layered, and also get highlights and some grey coverage. BB was able to decipher my descriptions, and gave me some advice about changing the base color so as not to continually cause damage to the hair (dry and tends to be coarse). She was lovely- pleasant, respectful, and sincere. My cut is one of the best i've gotten in YEARS, and this is including the salon I used to go to in Olympia, which I loved. She managed to layer it without giving me 1970's feathers :) and it really complements my face shape. The price was average. Not cheap, not crazy. I was really happy with the Brazilian blow out that I received from Kensie (sp?). She was delightful, easygoing, and nice to talk to - in addition to doing a very lovely job on my hair. I have now washed my hair for the first time since the treatment and it is lovely. Blow dries up with no effort and zero frizz. I have had keratin treatments multiple times and this seems like a lower maintenance (though not much cheaper, unless you get a bloomspot/Groupon deal) alternative. read more
