All In A Jar - Having fun in class.

The first thing I want to mention, is that All in a Jar is in a residential neighborhood. I thought…read moremy map had taken me to the wrong place, but if you are up in the hills you are in the right place! I had an amazing time at All in a Jar. We had a deal, so it was $35 for 3 hours of entertainment plus the food you take home! This was a steal, and I would definitely pay more for such a great experience. The roasted red pepper eggplant spread we made was so delicious, and I am anxious to try the pickled vegetables. Penny is quite a character, and makes the class so much fun. You also get to try a bunch of her jams, curd, and other pickled items. She does a BBQ/jar class that I want to go back and try. The other fun part, is my friend and I who did the class, became friends with the other people there! It's a great way to meet new people in the area!

Penny is very knowledgeable and passionate. Passion, I think, is just as important as knowledge because passion can be very infectious and engaging. We've all had teachers sans passion, did you learn anything? FEAR NOT! You will learn and have fun! Our class of six arrived to a lovely spread of tasty treats that were all prepared with the canned goodies -- and they were all GREAT! We prepared pickled Okra (can't wait for the 6 weeks to pass to taste it -- gotta wait for it to pickle, don't ya know) and Peach Pie filling... I have to admit, half of the pie filling filled my family's tummies the same night -- soooo good! Everyone receives the jar of each recipe they prepared -- bonus! Capture the bounty of summer and sign up for one of her classes, but be warned -- the slots fill up quickly! -- Yep, she's that good!

And she does that through food and hand-picked dishes that you will never uncover without a guide. Even though locations may change per tour, our group tasted a mix of cultures and got some stories behind the dishes, the restaurants, and their owners. Few examples - * Russian cuisine - Herring with a pickled onion on fresh bread * Indian street food - I was surprised how much I enjoyed this vegan street snack - I would have never ordered anything without meat, and I dislike spinach, but the fried spinach snack was mind-blowingly good. * Mexican - Quesadilla with plantain. Again, no meat but it was soooooo good. * Chinese - Glazed Pork and pork-filled bun I won't spoil the surprise for some of the other locations. And more, and more - Total of about 7-8 places. You won't stay hungry, guaranteed. The walk itself is not challenging; there are no hills to overcome, even though it's San Francisco. Don't wait - Just go!

All the mental health treatment I was going through just wasn't enough. I learned by working with Ajinder the significance of gut health, daily hydration, exercise, meditation, sleep hygiene and even cycle syncing. Before working with her, I would have prided myself in most of those aspects and my knowledge of them, but she helped me put the pieces together to help them make sense and actually work together. Most importantly, she did it all in a manner that made me stick to these habits. Now, nearly 4 months since my last session, I can proudly say I've kept up with all my goals. I wish I could shout from the rooftops how amazing this woman is! It's also worth mentioning that i live on the opposite side of the country as her so for anyone hesitant to do virtual or phone visits, she made it work, even with the time difference. I am so glad I took the leap and did this for myself because it was the foundation I so desperately needed to build my new "me".

She was charming and helpful throughout our initial planning conversations and when it came down to cooking she was excellent. She prepared the most lovely charcuterie boards for us as an appetizer with homemade bread, a wonderful chicken entree, and then a just-sweet-enough chocolate cake for dessert. And then there was homemade ice cream (so good it makes me want to learn to make my own!). Daun really made our evening special. If I'm ever in the area again looking for a private chef prepared meal, I'll be calling Daun.
