Gas very high and store is dirty, bathrooms are a horror show. Made a note to never stop on that exit again.

Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop

Parking is a little tricky, but definitely doable. There's quite a bit of metered parking, and we were able to find a free meter on a Saturday by parking on a nearby side street. The moment we walked in, we were amazed, and clearly hungry, because everything looked so delicious! My daughter made a beeline straight for the $5 candy buffet, which she absolutely loved. It's such a fun and unique option for kids. The vintage bottle drink freezer was another highlight, so colorful and stocked with all kinds of interesting and nostalgic flavors. They also had some funny gag gifts and a great selection of bulk candy at reasonable prices. One of our favorite touches was the little train running around the ceiling, it's such a cute detail that really adds to the experience. They even have a penny press, so be sure to bring two quarters and a shiny penny! We will definitely be back and highly recommend this spot if you're looking for fun gifts or a sweet treat, especially for kids.

Gave dirty looks and negative attitude or responses. Both girls at the counter treated us like we were an inconvenience for wanting to pick out some sweets and buy things from the shop. Do better!!!! We shopped on May 4th in the evening time.

As soon as you walk in to the store you are transported to a magical land of candy. You can find one of a kind sweets and candy you haven't seen since your childhood. Aunt Laurie's carries a wide variety of confections including house made chocolates, nostalgic favorites like moon pies, pop rocks and wax bottles, novelty candy like gummy Lunchables, candied nuts, taffy, fudge, truffles, rock candy, chocolate roses, caramels, popcorn, and children's toys and beanies. The candy may be filled with sugar but nothing is sweeter than Aunt Laurie who wants to be everyone's favorite Aunt. She greets you with a silver tray of candy because you are family and no one can walk around her store without eating candy. I wanted to purchase a chocolate dipped pretzel covered in Rolos and she insisted on gifting it to me along with a freshly dipped chocolate covered Oreo. I had to insist on buying something so I purchased a chocolate dipped pretzel covered in Snow Caps. The chocolate dipped treats were amazing. I wish I had gotten more but I had a long day ahead of me in a hot car. Next time I visit I will be sure to bring a cooler. Auntie Laurie also does gift baskets and party favors. If your child is celebrating a birthday be sure to bring them in to visit Aunt Laurie for her special love and attention. The candy is wonderful but just being around Aunt Laurie is enough to put a smile on your face.

OMG! CANDY GALORE!!! I felt like I had gone back in time, like the 60's. I saw candy that you don't…read moresee in a typical convenience store nowadays. They had it all!!!! I bought an assortment of candy to share, and a Zero bar to share as well. WOW! I am so glad I found this place. The Cashier was just as nice, helpful and friendly as can be. On my way out, a box of Boston Baked beans caught my eye, so I will go back soon and pick some of those up. The shop is near the courtyard by the St. George Inn. It's under some of the rooms. It is actually located in the same store as Pepper Palace so we killed two birds with one stone. I read previous reviews and everyone had great contributions so that sold me. I am not sure how crazy popular St. Augustine has become in the past year or two for families but it seems like families took a really long wrong turn away from Disney and headed here. Anyway, this place is really small. I mean like maybe can fit 10 people maximum at a time. I expected unusual finds of candy and I did find some unique candy for sure! I really did not have anything specific I was looking for but was willing to spend money if I found something. Unfortunately, there were too many kids standing around like zombies and it made it really difficult to browse and shop. I was feeling too crowded so I made my way towards Pepper Palace. I intend to come back but only when there are not so many people. The selection was good but I think there could be more unique finds and a little more variety. They had bulk options, but not many. There was of course plenty of packaged candy that many of us are familiar with. There was also slushees, smoothies, and drinks behind the counter. Next time I really want to look at that.

We saw this place was in the plaza next door and decided to try and thank the LORD we did. Dominick's is one of those delis that you wish was on every corner. The menu was actually crazy - everything you can think of for sandwiches on one menu. Originally was going for a chicken Caesar wrap and I'm so happy I switched it up because everything here is FRESH - all the toppings, bread, deli meats, salads, everything seriously looked incredible. I was eyeing everyone's plates to see what others were getting and it all looked amazing. The place was packed for a Monday lunch rush and it makes sense why. I didn't grab her name, but the cashier at the front was extremely helpful and even brought me a spoonful of the chicken salad to try (which I ended up getting a side of!) The food, the service, atmosphere, and prices were all 10/10. It's true the perfect deli and if you're considering opening another location... Tampa would LOVE you!!!
