I'd like to communicate a series of incredibly unfortunate experiences I recently had with Dr. Hanz and his staff. In early 2024, I met with Dr. Hanz and his clinician to discuss having Bellafill inserted into my jawline. During the consultation, Dr. Hanz expressed confidence that Bellafill would provide me with a positive and long-lasting result. Importantly, we also discussed that Bellafill is designed to bond or adhere to the bone. This fact was crucial in my situation, as I was having Bellafill placed onto my mandible (jawline), which is a part of the face that is in constant motion. I then scheduled an appointment with Dr. Hanz's clinician and had Bellafill inserted into both the left and right sides of my jaw. Very soon after that, I moved away from Dallas, and I now reside overseas. To make a very long story short, Dr. Hanz's clinician did not correctly insert the Bellafill into my jawline. Instead of adhering to the bone as was promised, the two Bellafill injections immediately became free-floating and unsightly blobs of disfiguring filler. One blob looks like a frisbee of floating filler, while the other looks like a misshapen football of floating filler. Try to imagine: Whenever I open my mouth, my jaw moves but the Bellafill blobs do not. Over many months, I expressed my frustrations with Dr. Hanz's clinician via email, I shared photos and a video documenting my horrible outcome, I requested a refund, and (because of my residency overseas) I requested a telehealth appointment with Dr. Hanz to discuss options. As I've meticulously documented, on five occasions Dr. Hanz's staff rebuffed my requests for a telehealth appointment. Instead, they continuously indicated that I would need to return to the clinic for an in-person appointment. If Covid lockdowns taught us anything, it's that telehealth appointments are an effective option in the patient/caregiver toolbox. I can only presume that my five rebuffed telehealth requests were at Dr. Hanz's direction. After my fifth request for a telehealth appointment, I was granted a call (but not a video call) with Dr. Hanz. During our call and through subsequent emails, Dr. Hanz expressed the following: 1) Yes, a review of the photographic evidence indicates that his office did not place the Bellafill properly, 2) Because I am unable to return to Dr. Hanz's office, I should consult with a different physician (at my expense I presume), and 3) No, Dr. Hanz would not be refunding to me any portion of the cost of the disfiguring procedure because he had (and I quote) "already paid the makers of Bellafill for their product." I couldn't believe it. Additionally, Dr. Hanz would not commit to discussing or acting upon, at no expense to me, surgical or other therapeutic removal options related to the misplaced Bellafill at the hands of his clinician. Before you schedule a procedure with Dr. Hanz or his staff, please ask yourself the following: Do you want to put your appearance at risk with this doctor? How would you feel if Dr. Hanz's clinicians improperly injected a semi-permanent filler into your face, causing a disfiguring aesthetic outcome? Do you believe it was ethical for Dr. Hanz to put his profit motive above his patient's wellbeing? How alarmed would you be if your requests for a telehealth appointment were stonewalled on five occasions? I have come to accept that I must live with two discs of floating Bellafill suspended in the proximity of my jawline -- Bellafill that will likely last for 3-5 years. I've also accepted that Dr. Hanz's financial self-interest prevents him from refunding to his patient the cost of his office's botched procedure. I've also learned that customer service is a mirage with this office. You, however, do not need to meet the same fate that I did. Please do not seek aesthetic treatment from Dr. Hanz or his staff.

I know quite a few people who trust these dermatologists, their methods, their diagnoses, and their treatments. And we all have different skin types, too. It can take a little while to get an appointment here if you're a brand new patient, but nothing crazy long. I've called doctors (in other fields for other reasons) as a new patient, and have been told things like "we can see you in 6 months." For real!? I could be dead by then! I understand 4 weeks or so, but half a year? Anyway, Mid Cities Dermatology can most likely get you in for an appointment in a decent amount of time. They're extremely friendly and patient as well. As a current patient of this clinic, I visit Dr. Miller about 1-2 times a year. I'm lucky enough to have mostly clear skin, but I'm super fair-skinned and have to get checked regularly to make sure all moles are skin cancer and pre-skin cancer free. I've had more than one procedure to keep my skin as healthy as possible, and this staff (receptionists, nurses, Dr. Miller) has always made me feel extremely comfortable, confident, and reassured. Make sure to always take care of your self... this includes your skin! And wear sunscreen! I definitely recommend Mid Cities Dermatology Clinic for all of your skin-health-care needs.

The nurse asked what other medications I recently had and I told her I had a Physer covid booster 2 days prior. She quickly got an antidote to neutralize the reaction. She was apologetic for someone not telling me to avoid certain medications before getting Juvederm injections. She treated me very well, apologized and gave me ice pads for my face. And I felt it was my fault for getting the covid booster before the Juviderm. When I got home and looked in the mirror, I was very surprised. It was very ugly. It was surly a bad reaction. I texted the spa and told them that my face was very ugly. Now, fast forward to present day: I made the appointment on November 19th. Then I received a call from a woman who said that I could not return to the spa at all for anything because of the way I acted after the Juvederm reaction 2 years ago. She continued to accuse me of many things. She told me that, at that time, she tried to call me back to the spa, and I wouldn't come. (I don't remember this) She said, that I told her to stop harassing me. I believe this as a lie. I would never say that because she was nice to me at the time. I remember the nurse was not mad at me 2 years ago, nor was I mad at her or upset at anyone. It was a continual verbal abuse on the phone and a very big surprise. I don't know why she would make these accusations at this time. Possible she thought that the same Juvederm reaction would take place if I had it done, and it would embarrass her or the spa?? Or, she didn't like me texting the spa to tell how I saw my face? I don't know. My wife and I spent well over $45,000 on plastic surgery and some on Juvederm from Doctor Anderson during the last 20 years and everything was great with high quality, perfect surgeries. Why am I treated this way now? This above is the absolute truth. I am a Christian and it would be very difficult for me to lie.

I think there needs to be a redesign of the reception / lobby area to take the store feeling out of it. I know it is how in Texas - but for the love of good god don't leave you front door hanging open to the elevator area - that also made your lobby extremely hot. They are not inclusive of the spouse and may zero accommodations for you to see or support your spouse. The communication is terrible and they did not even explain to my wife the medication she was supposed to use, which resulted in her almost taking blood thinners long after she was supposed to stop. She had complications with retaining water and they won't explore other options, but merely drain her three times a week. Texas is a large state with very qualified professionals, just go elsewhere, you will be thankful you did. This place was an awful experience and I would never recommend it.

Nobody ever called, so I headed up to visit my wife. I got here at 8 pm. Nobody in the lobby. The doors are locked. The phone goes straight to a recording. Even pressing the urgent but not an emergency option sends you to voicemail (that says they check it twice a day). Knocking did nothing. It took me 45 minutes to get here only to be locked out with no way of contacting anyone inside, waiting around for over half an hour outside, and then another 45 minutes heading back home. So in the end, after her surgery, I wasn't even able to check on my wife and see how she is doing. Absolutely ridiculous.
