It's situated in the Tollcross area of the city, with an on-street location opposite the RBS building near the top of Lothian Road. The orange lettering on the front ensures you're unlikely to miss it. This dentist has only opened in the past few years, and this shows on the inside. It's bright and airy; in fact, almost welcoming, which is not something you would expect of a dentist's surgery. This is a well-used surgery due to its prime location. Appointments sometimes run late, but with paying NHS prices, I am not going to complain in a hurry. Reception staff are efficient and helpful, and I trust the abilities of the dentists. Whilst I have not had any work done on my teeth here other than a standard check-up, I would have no hesitation in using them for more major dental procedures. I would strongly recommend this as a great city centre dental surgery. I feel odd saying that I am a fan of a dentist, but good places like this need to be pointed out. And I believe they are still taking new NHS patients, so make sure to use them!

Do not go to this dentist, now called Genix!…read more I have never had trouble with my teeth but decided, since I moved to the Uk, to get a dentist here for a check up. In my check up the dentist decided that I needed 5 fillings in total. I found that a bit shocking but trusted the dentist and let them start on 3 new fillings in the first sitting. After this two of the 3 fillings were extremely sensitive. I could not even chew a banana without going through the roof with pain. I went back. The dentists reply was "Oh I didnt think I had gone that deep." She polished down the fillings a bit more and told me that it was not uncommon and to give it more time. Two weeks later one of the fillings fell out. I went back to have it put back in. It fell out again 2 weeks after that!!! By then the tooth was constantly painful and I was unable to chew anything. I went to the walk in clinic, not wanting to go back to this dentist. I was given a temporary new filling and antibiotics because the root had started to get infected. Freaked out by the experience I packed my bags and travelled back to Germany to see my old dentist there. I was able to bring the x ray GENIX had based their work on. My dentist in Germany said that non of the fillings had been nessesary!!! I underwent extensive treatment on the one tooth in order to save the root. At that point if could have gone either way and I could have lost a perfectly heathy tooth. This is a year ago now. Both the other fillings have fallen out also over the course of the year. One of those teeth needed more root saving treatment also. I paid over 200pounds for getting my teeth ruined, on top of that I paid other dentists for new fillings and emergency treatments. One of the affected teeth is still troubling me and I still receive treatment for it but it will never recover completely. To top it all off I had asked GENIX to deregister me as I was going to go to a different clinic. The lady at the reception gave me a weird grin and said she had done this. It turns out she lied right in my face as GENIX still sends me mail reminding me of my check ups. They still benefit from me. This clinic is staffed by liers and incompetend dentists.

This will be a long review, but I wanted to provide as much info as possible for anyone who might…read morebe thinking about coming to this clinic for aesthetic work. I had Ultherapy done by Dr. Victoria here several months ago. The results, though only 3 months out, have been very good so far and my experience with the clinic has overall been very professional and good. The clinic is quite posh and plush. Prices are dear, but you are being taken care of by a real doctor and not someone who took a 3 hour course on how to give Botox in a nail salon. You will indeed get what you pay for here. Consult: The clinic is busy, so plan accordingly. Dr. Victoria saw me herself and after I asked her a few questions about the procedure (I had been doing research for months) answered them well. She would be doing the Ultherapy herself, rather than a nurse practitioner. I went in for Ultherapy on my lower face, jawline and under the chin. Although I'm in my late 30's and overall have very little wrinkling and good skin (thank you sunscreen!), I was starting to get jowly over the last 3-4 years and noticed I looked angry and like I was scowling or frowning, not to mention that my jawline had lost most of its definition. There are no creams that will give that lift but I also didn't want a drastic, invasive procedure. I liked that Ultherapy was gradual (results develop over 3-6 or more months) and it really is a lunchtime procedure, as there is very little risk of bruising or redness. There was one slight problem, which Dr. Victoria was well aware of and addressed quickly: most of what I had read described Ultherapy as extremely painful and I have a pretty low pain threshold. She offered a test zap on my jaw, at the same frequency that would be used on my face if I chose to go ahead, and it wasn't painful. There was a quick, hot zing, but it was more than bearable. She told me that due to the laxity in my jawline I would be a good candidate. Of course, the cynical part of me expects an aesthetic doctor to say that, but I come from a family of doctors and knew she was right. She wasn't trying to push other procedures such as Botox on me, although she suggested *maybe* after seeing the results develop if I wanted a chin filler since I have a weak, receding chin. After my last follow-up Dr. Victoria said my results were coming along so well that she didn't feel the filler was necessary anymore, only if I wanted it (I'll pass for now). So let's move on to the Ultherapy itself: I took half a tablet of pain medication just in case. During the consult you can ask Dr. Victoria about pain management options but for most people it should be bearable, though perhaps uncomfortable at times. The Ultherapy machine works on ultrasound waves and self-regulates based on sensors that scan the thickness of the skin and its laxity. There were dozens of zaps along my lower face and under my chin. No nose or upper lip. Out of those dozens of zaps maybe 4 or 5 were painful, mostly right under my chin and on each side of my nose along the cheekbone. From start to finish it was all done in less than an hour. Over the next few days I had no redness, pain or bruising. There was mild soreness in my face, comparable to when you've had an intense workout and your muscles are a bit achy. That lasted a few days but wasn't an issue. I was still able to chew and speak normally and I slept through the night fine. I noticed a lift in my jawline over the next few weeks. Very gradual, subtle but definitely there. When I came back a few days ago for my three month follow up both Dr. Victoria and her nurse were surprised at how well and quickly my results had developed so far. I saw the photos side by side and was very pleasantly surprised too. This procedure is ideal if you have mild to moderate sagging. If you are much older and the sagging is severe, it may not do much for you and you will likely need a thread lift or a face lift. It is also apparently good for the neck, as a gentle eye or brow lift and for the chest area, but I wasn't in need of that. But so far I got the results I was looking for so I feel it was well worth it. I don't look like I'm frowning or scowling as much and my jawline has definition again. We'll see what kind of touch up I need 3-5 years from now.

So far I have only had a consultation with a lady called Becky who is extremely friendly and has answered all my questions and demonstrated a accurate knowledge and complete understanding witch makes myself feel at ease. I have my complete confidence that I will be satisfied with my treatment but feel the clinic is slightly just a little over priced for myself, but other than that no problems thus far. I will be giving an update when i have had more treatments done in the near future.

It is horribly plain and lifeless when you walk in, with white walls and a stale feeling about it. There seem to be too many plain chairs lined up, and the long corridor dotted with closed doors looks more like an interrogation center than anything good. Ok, not that visiting the dentist is harmless, but I had a strange sense that I should leave, and that if something bad happened I would remember that I hadn't left when my instinct told me to. Clearly I was in a strange mood Thursday last week when I visited, because two smiling faces and the best dentist I've ever met worked on me. She told me things no one has told me (not american or scottish dentists) about grinding my teeth and a broken filling (ok this later could have happened recently). She showed me xrays and told me her recommendations. I'm heading back this week for the first part, which is some kind of guard to stop my teeth being worn down due to clenching (how was she to know?). Most importantly, I was not hurried in and out. She answered questions, she was knowledgeable and polite, and I felt like more than anyone before she cared what happened to my teeth. Thanks!

Haymarket dental care is run by husband and wife team Charlotte and David who are both lovely and they have a team of dentists at the practice. My Dentist Lorna Burns is just fantastic! She talkes me through any procedures and options which leaves me at ease. The place itself is spotlessly clean even down to putting plastic covers on the handle of the dentists light above you. This is an NHS dentist but you can opt for paying extra for example paying to have a white filling rather than an amalgalm. There are two parking spaces at the front of the dentists which are free. I reccommended this dentists to two of my work colleagues who hadn't been to the dentists in years as they both had a fear of the dentist and both were reassurlngly and gently eased into it and both have overcome their fear and are pleased with the results. They text you a reminder the day before your appointment which ensures I never miss an appointment. very handy!
