Aeon Dental Centre is part of what is now a rare breed in my experience - a dentist that does NHS as well as private appointments. It's situated in the Tollcross area of the city, with an on-street location opposite the RBS building near the top of Lothian Road. The orange lettering on the front ensures you're unlikely to miss it. This dentist has only opened in the past few years, and this shows on the inside. It's bright and airy; in fact, almost welcoming, which is not something you would expect of a dentist's surgery. This is a well-used surgery due to its prime location. Appointments sometimes run late, but with paying NHS prices, I am not going to complain in a hurry. Reception staff are efficient and helpful, and I trust the abilities of the dentists. Whilst I have not had any work done on my teeth here other than a standard check-up, I would have no hesitation in using them for more major dental procedures. I would strongly recommend this as a great city centre dental surgery. I feel odd saying that I am a fan of a dentist, but good places like this need to be pointed out. And I believe they are still taking new NHS patients, so make sure to use them! read more

Genix Healthcare - General Dentistry Near Me - Edinburgh, EDH

Do not go to this dentist, now called Genix! I have never had trouble with my teeth but decided, since I moved to the Uk, to get a dentist here for a check up. In my check up the dentist decided that I needed 5 fillings in total. I found that a bit shocking but trusted the dentist and let them start on 3 new fillings in the first sitting. After this two of the 3 fillings were extremely sensitive. I could not even chew a banana without going through the roof with pain. I went back. The dentists reply was "Oh I didnt think I had gone that deep." She polished down the fillings a bit more and told me that it was not uncommon and to give it more time. Two weeks later one of the fillings fell out. I went back to have it put back in. It fell out again 2 weeks after that!!! By then the tooth was constantly painful and I was unable to chew anything. I went to the walk in clinic, not wanting to go back to this dentist. I was given a temporary new filling and antibiotics because the root had started to get infected. Freaked out by the experience I packed my bags and travelled back to Germany to see my old dentist there. I was able to bring the x ray GENIX had based their work on. My dentist in Germany said that non of the fillings had been nessesary!!! I underwent extensive treatment on the one tooth in order to save the root. At that point if could have gone either way and I could have lost a perfectly heathy tooth. This is a year ago now. Both the other fillings have fallen out also over the course of the year. One of those teeth needed more root saving treatment also. I paid over 200pounds for getting my teeth ruined, on top of that I paid other dentists for new fillings and emergency treatments. One of the affected teeth is still troubling me and I still receive treatment for it but it will never recover completely. To top it all off I had asked GENIX to deregister me as I was going to go to a different clinic. The lady at the reception gave me a weird grin and said she had done this. It turns out she lied right in my face as GENIX still sends me mail reminding me of my check ups. They still benefit from me. This clinic is staffed by liers and incompetend dentists. read more

Went for a check-up and found that the comments about NHS treatment available and dental work to be done was very poor. For example: I aked if the capped tooth that i have could be replaced as the gum has shrunk back ,revealing a black unsightly area above cap. The reply to this was that "NNS caps are not very good and that is why it looks that way" When the caps were fitted years ago they were perfect ,but through time gum shrinkage has occurred. I would say she tried to pull wool over my eyes,until i questioned this. Only hope treatment is of good standard as i will be on strict observation of all tasks carried out. read more

I'm very happy with the service at Aeon Dental Centre, though I must qualify that by saying I have only been in for straightforward NHS check ups and cleans. The dentist was very professional and friendly, keep me informed of what she was doing and why and made sure I understood everything she had to tell me. The admin staff are very friendly, and they do everything you expect for a dental centre these days - send you a reminder card when you are due for a 6-monthly check, and a text message a day or so out to remind you of your appointment. The dentist and admin staff were happy to oblige my rather unusual request for a certificate of dental health (needed by an empoyer) even though this is not something they normally do. I was apprehensive to go to a Dentist, as most people, but after delaying it for too long, I finally decided to try this practice after reading some of the reviews. And I'm very happy that I did so! The staff was brilliant, from the nurses to the doctor that saw me (Dr. Roger) - they put me completely at ease, explained everything to me so that I was put at ease, and I felt that I was in good hands. Very poor dentist, possibly the worst I have ever experienced. Surly receptionists who demand payment upon arrival, poor attitude from the dentists themselves who aren't in the least bit helpful or understanding. Very difficult to get an appointment and once you do there is no guarantee that they will have kept a record of it! Avoid at all costs!! read more

I've only been to this dentist for standard check ups. It was really quick and easy to sign up as an NHS patient as they always seem to be taking new patients. They have always had the appointments times I ask for and I've never had to wait at all when I arrive. I am a bit ocd about dentist surgeries being clean seeing as all that stuff goes into your mouth and this one always passes my high standard. I don't dread going to this dentist as they're always so professional. read more

Terrible place. Seriously. Unprofessional, uncaring, socially inept and generally awful. You don't have to resort to this low standard if you're NHS, just find somewhere - anywhere - better. The only good thing to say is that the reception staff are good. The actual dentists.... not so much. read more

Having issues with my teeth I was initially super impressed with the timely fashion I could get an appointment with genix healthcare. Maybe this isn't a good thing!! I went in and was told I would need two root canals which was fine it was what I was expecting. The treatment was done by the female dentist in the practice. Avoid at all costs!! The root canal treatment I believe is done in two sessions in case the roots are not completely gone within the first treatment. She did it all one hour apart... Two days after I was in absolutely agonising pain! To which I had to go to the emergency dentist. They then filed down the tooth because it was sitting far too high! I left there but still not in a good way. I then phoned the dentist to say I don't think it's right. She saw me but shrugged off the pain. After I had pestered her for 3-4 days she finally said that she will give me some antibiotics, I went in to pick them up and she refused to see me and shrugged me off so the receptionist gave me the drugs. this came little too late after day 7 enough was enough and I asked to see another dentist in the practice. My jaw at this stage was in a lot of pain aswell as really swollen. I saw a male dentist and He took out the filling to realise that there was an abscess in under the filling that had been there for a week. It took another 2 sessions to fix this dentists mistake to which she didn't care. The treatment received by the female dentist was borderline malpractice. To top it off she suggested that she not continue and treatment on my mouth... What a joker. read more

I am completely unsatisfied with this dentist. I got a filling two months ago and recently has become sore. I was due for two fillings the other week, half way through this treatment I was informed that they had hit a nerve so treatment was put on hold whilst they fixed their mistake. I was told to go back for the rest of my fillings on another date and was given a hefty NHS bill. I had to pay for the mistake that they made! i've been in pain eversince. read more

I am very annoyed at this dental surgery. I went in nearly 3 month ago to have vaneers on my four top front teeth. I went in for preperation work to be done and the temp vaneers. the dentist told me the temps may not hold for the week but this is ok. By the time I had got home the two front temps had fallen off already, and my teeth were extremely sensative. I was having to drink from a straw. One week later returned for my vaneers to be fitted, however only the two front ones could be done as the moulding was not accurate. I had to wait another week. agai, she fitted temps which again fell off before I had got home. Another week my teeth were highly sensative. I returned once again to be told the moulding was still the wrong size and had to be done again. Another week, still in pain I awaited my two vaneers. Today I went expecting the work to be finished. She did one vaneer which is massive and said she changed her mind for the forth one. I am now left with 3 massive teeth to the left side of my mouth, therefore my right sie looks as though I have no teeth. She said I can re arrange for another toot even though this was to be the arrangement. My confidence is at an all time low as my teeth look like something out of a cartoon. My chidren even told me I look goofy. I do not advise anyone use thi dentist for vaneers. I amm sending a complaint. read more
